1 out of 5 eggsToo Many Problems

Pros: The UI is easy to use

Cons: Constantly drops connections. This includes wired and wireless devices.
Unreliable wireless coverage. Using a network meter I can watch the wireless signal strength fluctuate. These fluctuations are so severe that devices are dropped, then reconnect 30 seconds to a few minutes later. Not good when you are streaming video or using a VoIP service.
Router needs frequent reboots. Router will stop responding to DHCP requests, so devices cannot connect. After rebooting router, devices can connect again.
Overall - this router is way more trouble than it is worth.
I have contacted support and worked with them on several occasions. Bottom line - this router just doesn't work reliable. There is no fix! It's an expensive lesson. My last router was about 1/3 the cost of this D-Link and performed far more reliably.

5 out of 5 eggsThis product is not for your average user although it sets up very easily.

Pros: I have over 14 items around the house that connect to the router including, wireless cameras, rokus, amped wireless pro range extender, smart tvs, tablets and phones. It was easy to set up if you read the instructions in depth meaning unplug, turn off or disconnect anything that uses a wireless or lan connection. If you do that you will see all of your connections and speeds take off. Setting up the different (3) bands for my streaming items, and browsing items makes a huge difference and the speed of all my items took off. No more buffering when all three rokus are streaming while downloading steam games. The big plus is to easily be able to prioritize bandwidth from the 2.4 and 5ghz bands. Doing it from you phone is great also. So unless you understand standard networking protocol and a DNS service, i.e. DynDns.org, this product will not optimize itself, although it does with other D-Link products.

Cons: At first I was taken back by the price but after a week of tweaking and finding out many of its available settings, I feel I got what I paid for.

Other Thoughts: If you have a few items on your network, this item may be overkill or if you are just a plug and play user, this item is overkill.

1 out of 5 eggsPathetic performance

Pros: faster processor
better UI

Cons: unable to connect to many home devises
decreased range
slower speed

Other Thoughts: Replaced Dlink DIR857 with this new DlinkAC5300. I made a wrong choise. Router does not provide connectivity to many of my devices including my PS3, Samsung Note 5 and Dish Hopper. I emailed Dlink support asking if they can provide any help. Never received any reponse, either they dont care or they themselves do not know what to do. Range of the WIFI is not all that great. I can certainly say based on my user experience DIR857 has a greater range and much faster connectivity. Please do not buy this router . The performance is pathetic.

2 out of 5 eggsNeeds a lot of work

Pros: Easy setup

Cons: Doesn't show all connected devices.
Devices dropped and constantly changing in the interface
Legacy 802.11B devices seem to have issues with this router

Other Thoughts: I would say hold off on this product as there are a myriad of issues with this device. The interface does not show all connected devices and should. Devices connected disappear constantly and sometimes show up and sometimes don't. You should be able to see a list of leased devices and you cannot. The smart connect seems to be the issue as devices are moved around the bands based upon a usage algorithm. If the router perceives heavy band usage it tries to balance the load which is what I suspect is causing the ever changing device connection list. I have several 802.11B which were unable to connect to the router and stay connected.Tech support was unresponsive to my request to be called before a certain time on the night I called and called back 3 days later .... not good tech support practice. Have a call ticket open for them to explain why I cannot see devices that are definitely connected to the router but do not show up in the interface. I would wait until the kinks have been worked as I don't believe this router was ready for primetime despite being released almost a year later after its announcement.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Fast speeds, reliable, doesn't drop connections, worked right out of the box. Purchased the Asus AC5300 before this one and returned it due to multiple problems, but the Dlink AC5300 is far superior in quality and ease of use.

Cons: Upgraded from the Dlink AC3200 and I don't see any real differences or upgrades other than two more antennas. Stick with the AC3200 before dropping $420 on this beast.

4 out of 5 eggsDD-WRT support *NOT* there yet

Pros: Easy to reflash when you brick it....repeatedly...

Cons: The recommended DD-WRT image (from the DD-WRT website) currently will brick the unit. Was able to install the latest development build but all kids of things are broken (wifi only works with NO crypto/authentication, bridging WAN/LAN does not work, and it doesn't appear to use the third radio). Still some work to be done it appears...
