4 out of 5 eggsWorks great once you get it working.

Pros: Good reliable product overall and works great once you get it working. I had to use the included software for initial setup, but reinstalled Windows afterwards on all home PCs (don't ask). Now the print server works even better :-D. I love being able to print wirelessly from anywhere in the house.

Cons: The included PSAdmin program behaved differently and not very reliably on all PC's I had it installed - very odd.

Other Thoughts: Used with Netgear and Westell(Verizon) wireless routers and HP DJ960 printer.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: First one working great at a branch office for a year with no problems. Using it to print to a Lexmark from Windows and Linux with no problems.

Cons: Included windows software required to configure the unit. The instructions are unclear. The software is not required to print through it once it is set up, if you know how to set up standard network printing manually.

Other Thoughts: I'm buying another one soon because reliability in service is more important that an easy setup for me. Also I've got it figured out so a second one will be easy...

5 out of 5 eggsYOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE!!

Pros: Once you get it configured, it truly is set it and forget it.

Cons: You must install its print manager in order to use it on Windows.

Other Thoughts: The direction translation is laughably bad, but a fun read. Enjoy!

2 out of 5 eggsUnsatisfied

Pros: Works ok IF you can get it to connect.

Cons: Difficult to setup!

Other Thoughts: Home equip includes: Toshiba laptop, Linksys wireless router, HP 8150 Photo Printer.
Run PSAdmin, it finds the server, gets IP add, but still cant get it to Print. After hours of playing around it finally sent a print job. All was fine for a couple months. Now I’m back to square one.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: Didn't work. One of my PCs could find it on the network, but would not connect. My other PCs could not even find it. Then none of them could find it on the network.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: Poor user interface
Poor support
"auto translated" manual
Does not work with many printers

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend this product. Even if you are savvy in Windows networking, getting this thing to even recognize in it's software is difficult. The utility is poorly designed and it requires you to do a lot of the configuration on your own. Even after opening up my firewall for its software - pointing the printer port to the server and creating at static IP for the server - it still doesn't work. I called Zonet, who said that it was probably defective, but really was just trying to get me off the phone. The manual was obviously written in another language and then machine translated (which is annoying) and after all of my troubleshooting I found some information on the zonet website that says "Many of the Lexmark printers model are known to be incompatible with our print server". Great... like Lexmark isn't a popular printer brand.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Works every once and a while.

Cons: It works for one print job, then it fails and its back to trying to figure out what went wrong this time. I've seen other print servers in action, and this one is not worthy of being called a "print server." Its useless and when I want to print something I take my laptop to the printer and hook it up directly!

4 out of 5 eggsGood For USB 1.1

Pros: Does exactly as is claimed. Replaced a HP Jetdirect card that had gone bad. Using Novell Iprint installed the configuration software on a PC in the same subnet and reconfigured the ZPS1K to the same IP address the failed jetdirect had. All the qued jobs started printing immediately !!! :-) Took all of 5 minutes to Configure.

Cons: Would have been nice if it was USB 2.0 and backward compatible to USB 1.1. Manual is worthless... does't even tell you what the default password is for getting into the cfg of the print server. By the way its no password ! ie.. blank

Other Thoughts: All you need for this to work is your own Networking knowlege and some comman sence to work around the manuals short commings, thats why I gave it a 4 out of 5

5 out of 5 eggsworks on xp and ubuntu if you know how to setup ip addresses

Pros: i have a samsung ml-2010 laser printer and needed to get it setup for both xp and ubuntu version 5.1

In xp make sure you can print a test page via normal usb connections, before even attemption to set it up with the zonet print server. download the necessary printer driver from samsung if you have to.

insert the printer server cd in xp, install it, change the dhcp setting to be assigned automatically. In my case it was set up to 192.168.1.133

then press start, control panel, settings, add printer, add local port printer, for mine it was lpt:psf2b9-2
do a test print and bam it works good in xp.

for ubuntu its even easier once you have the ip address:

my samsung ml-2010 uses the ubuntu samsung ML-200 driver.
add a printer, connection will be unix printer lpd type
type in 192.168.1.133 in the ip address and print a test page.

solid!

Cons: requires knowing about ip addresses and running ping commands in either
cmd mode for xp or exitting out to root terminal mode in ubuntu to make sure you got the right http address.

i even went into my router settings and displayed all available devices to make sure i got it right.

Other Thoughts: all in all relatively easy way of printing via ethernet.

I can even print wirelessly through my laptop so long as the print server is attached to the router.
