Pros: Cheap. Works wonderfully.

Cons: None. As long as you take the time to follow the instructions.

Other Thoughts: It pains me to see the negative reviews. All you have to do is follow the instructions and it WILL work. Two key things: First, it has to be in the same IP group (say 192.168.2.xx) as the router, so be sure to use the utility to change the Zonet's number. Most importantly, you have to use the Zonet web interface to FIND THE PORT NAME of the Zonet (e.g. "P2") and INSERT THAT BACK into the properties of the printer port that you create. When you do that, the thing that was making you tear your hair out suddenly starts working, and you say, "Dang."

1 out of 5 eggsWhat's a peice of junk!!!

Pros: NONE

Cons: Did NOT work with my USB HP laser printer, despite I tried multiple printer drivers but still no luck. It kept seeing my printer offline but it's not. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Other Thoughts: I bought this device to make my UBS HP laser printer into a network printer. Installed the hardware driver but wouldn't see my printer online. After over one week of headache, I decided to return it and get my money back.

3 out of 5 eggsworked great (for a while)

Pros: Very easy setup with XP and Vista computers. worked perfect. Very small and low-cost.

Cons: I wish mine didnt die after 3 months. The leds intermittenly didnt lite and then wouldnt send data to the printer. I tried unplugging and resetting it, but it was DEAD..

Other Thoughts: I would buy another one, but I dont trust these anymore. I will be sticking with linksys or netgear as I should have in the first place

5 out of 5 eggsCheap and Works Great

Pros: Price. Simple Setup. Works great. Prompt customer service at Zonet web site.

Cons: First one was defective.

Other Thoughts: I set this up by hooking to a port on my wireless network access point/router. I had to change the IP address to one that was in the same group as the router ( is the one I gave it) so that the web setup program could talk to it. This was easily accomplished by using the utility on the accompanying disk. One critical thing to do when setting up is to find the port name via the web interface and plug that into the IP printer port that you create. When you do that, it works like a champ.

I found the manual on the DVD to be very comprehensive. I also found the customer service to be fast and responsive; they gave me an RMA number right away and sent me a new device within 2 days of receiving the one I returned.

5 out of 5 eggsLow Cost - Works Great

Pros: This is a great low cost solution for turning your regular desktop printer into a network printer. The instructions were short but clear enough for me to get this thing to work. The software did what it was supposed to and I now have network printing.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I used this with an ethernet cable plugged into one of the wired ports of my wireless router. I thought there would be problems with the ip address of the print server since it is the same as most router (including the one I was using) but somehow the software found the device and I was able to configure it esily.

4 out of 5 eggsSimple, effective solution

Pros: Extremely small and compact. Easy to set up (see below) though web based configuration. (Did not use included config software so can not comment on it.)

Cons: No user’s manual in the box or online for the hardware. Very limited manual for included software. Default IP is – same as most home routers. (Be sure to disconnect your router before plugging in Print Server if your router has same IP. Once you change the IP of the print server your router can be reconnected.) Lacks statistical information that other print servers have and some users may want (at least through the web admin). I am using this at home so the stats are not that important to me.

Other Thoughts: I consider myself very knowledgeable in this area, and despite the cons, I was able to get this print server up and running with my HP LJ1300 in less than 5 minutes using the web administration. It’s a very simple and straight forward product and does its job well. I recommend this to anyone with print server knowledge, and to those novice users who don’t mind digging in and learning how to set up a TCP/IP printer port. If you are wanting some hand holding to get it set up, well, you may want to consider another product with better documentation. As with any USB print server, be sure that your printer is supported.

All-in-all, a good product for the price.
