2 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: Cheap and if you're not far from your router its good i guess

Cons: I get 40% signal strength from a VERY small home the router is on the floor below me and its a d-link DIR-655 when i check the routers strength to my computer it is at 95% yet the pci wireless card gets only 40% do not buy this thing.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Windows 7 support!

Pros: Cheap. Grabbed it for 10 bucks with a rebate.

Cons: Chucked that 10 bucks down the drain! Tried installing it on 64 bit Windows 7RC with brand new drivers downloaded from Zonet. It recognizes the card, but the driver doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: Guess I'll have to shell out a few more bucks and avoid the cheapies - you get what you pay for!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Alright for the price.

Cons: No Linux drivers. Major Bummer!

Other Thoughts: With the Linux community growing by leaps and bounds, manufacturers had better wise up and be Linux ready. We're here and we came to stay!

3 out of 5 eggsGood signal, but disables fast user switching

Pros: Good signal from a floor directly under 108MB router, good statistics that show error count. Connects right out the box.

Cons: Replaced my msgina.dll with RtlGina.dll, causing Windows to disable the welcome screen and fast user switching. After 24-48 hours, it caused BSOD, STOP 0x0000006E. It happened overnight. I don't use screensavers, and the monitor turns off after 5 minutes, but this is not the cause as I leave my desk frequently. The auto rate change is the default, and I had to disable it and set it to 54MB. It disconnects every few hours, unlike my older D-Link 54MB card which stays connected for 5+ days. The drivers are unsigned, and there are no drivers or utility to download from the manufacturer. I installed the software first, rebooted just to be sure that everything was installed, then shut it down and installed the hardware. Using XP Pro+SP2 32-bit + 4 GB RAM(3.5 GB shown). Driver version is rtl8185.sys 5.1106.0325.2008 Made by RealTek.

Other Thoughts: I have used this card for about 5 days now and plan to return it to the local store I bought it from. Netgear, Linksys, and Trenda all replace GINA. I don't know about the newer D-Link adapters, but home users prefer to keep the fast user switching feature.
