Other Thoughts: Disappointed in this server's functionality and features. Have to keep resetting the server in the web browser because the printer stops before finishing its job or the printer doesn't even respond. I had issues setting this up with the included software so I set this up manually. I wish I would have just used an old router (with usb) to work as a print server.

The software is only a wizard to help with configuration and is not needed. Once the DHCP IP address is obtained ( this can be done by logging into your router) you can log directly into the GPSU21 for configuration. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

Pros: It does work as an Ethernet to USB protocol converter for printing (Computers on Ethernet LAN have print drivers defined with the IP address programmed on the GPSU21. The USB port is connected to a Xerox Phaser 3610 and print jobs work and the printer can be managed from any of the computers)

Cons: IOGear technical support said the GPSU21 must be connected to a printer in order to be configured. It would be easier to manage if it did not require a printer to be connected to the USB port.

Other Thoughts: Did not test if a USB hub could be attached to the GPSU21 to provide multiple print connectivity nor did I try connecting it to storage devices. This GPSU21 replaced an old HP JetDirect box after our HP 5 with a parallel port was replaced was the inferior Xerox Phaser 3610 (the Xerox is a cheaply put together product - thin plastic walls output tray that is too short for legal, etc).

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR. The GPSU21 is a network device. This pulls a DHCP address when it is connected to a router or switch. You can get this address by logging into your router or by using the software wizard. You could then access the GPSU21 from your web browser using the IP address or use the software wizard to find the GPSU21. For this procedure the printer does not have to be attached . To complete the installation and have your printer on the network so it can be shared, it would have to be attached. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

Pros: Small, lightweight

Cons: I made Very many attempts to install the s/w to make this work on Win 8.1x64 and Win 10 x64. I must have reinstalled it 5-6 times with different settings. I found that it works slightly better with the MSUtility installed. It now takes about 5 minutes to print a page and I get a printer error on my screen and in the print queue. I corresponded at least 6 times with tech support, and they're stymied why it doesn't work right.

Other Thoughts: I RMA'd the first one, and they sent me a new one stating the one I sent in was obsolete (GPSU21W6). Sorry, I like IOGear products very much, but I can't recommend this one. There is a web interface, but for me, it didn't help. This thing just didn't work right. I'll sell this online as I recently installed a Synology DS215j file server with 2 USB ports for printing.

Pros: Installed and working successfully with an old Sharp AR-M237.

Cons: Not a biggie, but it doesn't include an ethernet cable or a USB cable.

Other Thoughts: Installed in a small office environment to add network printing to a Sharp AR-M237 for which no network module could be easily sourced. Worked great on both Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8.1 x64. Never used the CD, just configured via the web interface. Only been in service a week so no long-term reliability data.

Pros: Easy, fast Setup on Windows7

Other Thoughts: Running an HP F4400 printer off of a wireless bridge with no issues.

Pros: Works great once you get the software / drivers installed.

Cons: The drivers supplied do not work with Win 8.1 Enterprise x64. I downloaded the latest drivers but they did not work either. When you auto run setup.exe a menu will show up. From that menu you select setup but nothing ever happens. I found that running it in compatibility mode was the answer.

Other Thoughts: Once I ran it in compatibility mode I watched the old windows 95/98 installer pop up and install the files. Must be why you need compatibility mode.

Once they ran the setup was easy as pie as it should have been from the beginning. Really could have gotten 5 eggs if I didnt have to spend so much time troubleshooting.

Pros: Small.

Cons: Can not run setup on Win 8.1 Enterprise. I tried to run all the setup files form the CD and downloaded the latest drivers from their website http://www.iogear.com/support/driver/GPSU21%20Drivers%20Win8.1%20V3.7.1.zip which is almost 1 year old.

I attempted to look up the IP through DHCP and it is not pulling an IP at all. From what I read it looks like DHCP is the default. I cant find any documentation on default static IP.

Other Thoughts: I based this purchase on the reviews. This isnt a difficult task. Perhaps the software wont run on Enterprise? I know this version is limited to public use since I am a Microsoft Partner.

I am sure at some point I will figure something out, but until then 1 egg.

The wizard is not even needed for configuration once the GPSU21 pulls a DHCP address and you make note of the IP address assigned. You can then log directly into the print server. Other Thoughts: Bought two of these to replace dead Dymo Print Servers. I won't buy those over priced rip offs again. Took 10 minutes to get them up and printing. DHCP is the default network setting so it was easy to loacte them and configure the address I wanted.

Pros: Does the job

Cons: I had multiple network interfaces on my machine, took me awhile to figure out their wizard was looking for the device on the wrong one. Disable all NICs that don't connect to your local network before starting the wizard.

Pros: This is a great little print server for the price, I had an HP Officejet that needed to be shared and, unfortunately, it had no Ethernet port, only USB. Configuring the device and connecting it to the printer and network were a snap, no issues there.

Cons: None that I can think of.
