* No signal flicking.

Cons: Only thing: It's not remembering different wifi connections. But for me it doesn't matter.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: I own a few of those and I am really pleased of how well they serv me. No wifi drops good speeds

Cons: Price went up from a year ago and hasn't gone down since. I used to get them a lot cheaper. I guess they caught up with the demand.

4 out of 5 eggsIOGEAR GWU627

Pros: It works perfectly in its current use, turning a "smart" BluRay player into a wireless one. Thinking about buying another for the Internet tuner I just bought which has a reputation for a bad wireless implementation and has an Ethernet jack. Connection is very stable, but it is only 1 wood floor and 12 feet from a high-power (Engenius 17CC6) wireless access point.

Cons: No direct access to unit's web interface. It must be configured using it's default ip address to enter a WEP or WPA key. Only then can it be set to your network sub-net. Of course, this requires temporarily changing your entire network's subnet or a notebook's IP address, only to have to reset it after the unit is configured. But, this is a one-time issue and pretty typical of such simple devices.

Other Thoughts: It's really small and needs to be fastened to a surface with tape or Velcro or the weight of the power and ethernet cords alone will pull it to the floor. (The cat thought it was a play toy before I fastened it down.) Unfortunately, that will permanently obliterate the sticker containing the unit's serial number and MAC address.

4 out of 5 eggsConnection where there wasn't one before

Pros: Solid connection, holds connection well. Remembers WAP.

Cons: Seems a tad sluggish, but not enough to be a concern.

Other Thoughts: Bought one of these w/in the last year to add wifi to a non-wifi TV. Didn't work well with that (TV's fault, not the adapter) so I brought it down to the basement for my workbench. Got it hooked up to a small switch, it pulls a nice connection, even if I'm working with three systems at a time, and hasn't given me any trouble. No complaints.

2 out of 5 eggsSemi-useless

Pros: Never got it to work so hard to say. If it worked this would be a great device.

Cons: Basically, if the device you are trying to use this for can't be configure for static IP, as is the case for me, then it will not work. I spent 3 hours trying to get it to assign an IP to my laptop and it never did. I did go in to /menu.asp which gives you a lot more options but I suspect those options don't actually have any effect. In LAN I tried DHCP client and server but the behavior never changed. If I assigned an IP manually then it worked.

Other Thoughts: Will be returning.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. It sounds like the kit you have works as advertised. This devise will pull an IP through DHCP and cannot be accessed or changed. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great in Many Applications

Pros: Easy to configure, seems to have excellent coverage.

Cons: None that I have found.

Other Thoughts: I bought the device to use with my Samsung TV, but the TV isn't a Smart TV so it basically gave me the weather. I had an application that required a Linux PC be able to get to the internet and I knew the internal RJ-45 was talking to the O/S. I plugged it in and it was on the internet. Works great. The configuration you do to set it up like your Wi-Fi password stay in it so you can set it and forget it.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Does what I need it to do, which is connect a internet-ready DVD to my wireless network.

Cons: WPS would not connect to my ATT-Uverse wireless router, necessitating a manual connection. Had to connect wifi adapter to a PC and dig into the manual to get it connected, which might be trouble for those not familiar with setting up wireless networks. From there it went onto the DVD and, voila, works great. Other con: the wifi adapter will run on usb power without the AC adapter but will power off when you power off the device to which it's connected. This results in loss of wifi connection to the router when you power back up. This would be less of a problem if WPS worked. Use the AC adapter to stay constantly connected. Other con: I bought it on sale for 25 bucks. For retail list price of $50, I would recommend you look around.

Other Thoughts: Next time I will make sure I buy "Wifi Built-in" devices and not "internet ready". Caveat emptor. (Not a knock on this product, which is the solution, not the problem.)

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: It works as it is supposed to

Cons: it was hard to set up on 2 different routers so it is not just the one type of router

Other Thoughts: I ended up using MAC filtering to get these thing to work but they are still hard to setup. once they work they seem to have no other issues or maintenance I will buy again.
but if you don't know how to get in your router firmware and work with it you might have issues you just can rely on pushing the button to connect it did not work for either of my routers.
