2 out of 5 eggspoor performer

Pros: cost and easy setup

Cons: drops service and I spend more time some days chasing problems resulting from service drops

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this product to any one. Before I buy another netgear product I will do a lot more research

5 out of 5 eggsBEST ROUTER FOR THE $$$

Pros: very easy to setup, most stable router We've used

Cons: no ipv6 support

Other Thoughts: We install routers for customers as part of our internet service, we've used many different kinds from linksys, and dlink. this has been the most reliable and offers the best coverage out of all the compitition. The only con I would have to say is that when I called netgear to ask if they'd be offering ipv6 support for this model, they acted as if they didn't even know what ipv6 was. this router simply is the best buy bar none

5 out of 5 eggsNetGear WPN824 Router

Pros: Exceptional price (sale), solid reliable signal, stable operation.

Cons: Setup CD utility couldn't complete the configuration, login could be a little easier, limited control of some settings.

Other Thoughts: Once I got this unit set up, it was great. Liked the control of my Linksys WRT54GL a bit better (even with the reference firmware. Still, this router works very well with my DSL modem and I can stream movies wirelessly from Netflix to my HTPC in the living room.

5 out of 5 eggsNetgear Rangemax

Pros: Easy setup. Decent range coverage. Price for what you get.

Cons: No external antenna inputs.

Other Thoughts: I have been selling these off of word of mouth, so I thought why not get one for myself. Was one of the easiest routers I have dealt with.

2 out of 5 eggsWireless is poor

Pros: Lan connection works.

Cons: Wireless connection is lackluster. Wireless works poorly with windows, doesn't work with Linux or Wii. My Linux computer works wirelessly with other routers, but not my own.

Other Thoughts: If you want this for wireless internet, you can do much better.

5 out of 5 eggsA great deal

Pros: Great buy for the money. Wireless/cabled speed very good.

Cons: The CD kept saying that it couldn't find my laptop NIC. Set this up thru the web site with NO problems.

Other Thoughts: A really good deal. Delivery on time (of course).. The Egg ROCKS...

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong.

Pros: When plugged in to the ethernet port on it I see virtually no loss of quality in speed, its like I"m plugged straight into the modem. I hit 28 mbps with it no problem.

Cons: Wirelessly, I still get anywhere from 8 to 16 mbps and common sense does tell us that its gunna take a hit compared to a wire.. but, it still sucks. (then again I guess this is more a con of technology not this router specifically).

Other Thoughts: For a router I got in 2008 I can't complain and to get a router that *could* push the 28 mbps wirelessly I'd have had to pay a lot more than I wanted to.

*Lots of routers* claim to push 50 mpbs or whatever.. just keep in mind even though they claim it.. its not always the reality.

2 out of 5 eggswireless to wired LAN connections don't work

Pros: Very easy setup, as expected. Interface has not changed much since earlier net gear routers.

Cons: I cannot get my Wired boxes to talk to my wireless boxes on the LAN. Everybody can get out, but no IP services work internally on my lan except between the wired boxes. Set this up exactly like my other 2 net gear (cheaper) routers to no avail. 2 hours on the phone 2/ Customer Service yielded a "return this to your store and buy a WNR2000 net gear with lifetime hardware warranty"

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The unit is working well for internet connection.

Cons: Wired connections cannot see shares on wired connections. And the opposite.

Other Thoughts: Put in a ticket with netgear support. The response that I got back, had nothing to do with the ticket that I put in.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than I expected

Pros: VERY FAR RANGE, Awesome Signal Strength, Speed Everything is awesome. Software setup was a breeze and the router itself looks quite good in my house along side my white HP printer. The Blue LEDs don't bother my sister who uses the computer hardlined to the router right next to it daily.

The Router has plenty of features, more so then I thought. Awesome.

Cons: Slow Router Management (192.168.1.1). Saving things and initial start up are a little slow.

Other Thoughts: I was a little weary about getting a netgear product after years of linksys loyalty, but I needed a super quick solution and picked this up at a local store after my old WRT54G started dropping signal constantly after 5 years of abuse. Totally blew me away. I'm on the other side of the house, one floor down, through at least 3 walls. Blew me away, totally happy. I don't even have the Rangemax adapters. Definitely a recommended buy.
