CISCO CISCO881-K9 881 Ethernet Security Router 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports

Pros: This is a great router. I have not had to reboot at all in over a year (since I put it online). I have this connected with a Cisco switch and several wireless AP's as well. Even though this is only 10/100 it handles traffic very well. I have multiple VLANS, DHCP pools. Several bridged access points, media servers and about 20 users running through a single WAN connection and bandwidth remains stable throughout the entire network.

Cons: A bit expensive. However this IS NOT your typical router you find at the "big box" stores. Not for the novice! You must have at least some concept of Cisco's CLI and the willingness to learn it. I have not used the GUI, I prefer CLI.

Other Thoughts: Overall a exceptional router for a small business or a techie home owner who wants a reliable, great performing router!

Pros: It's Cisco. Rock solid reliability and great replacement for my consumer grade router. Very secure and setup the firewall rules automatically for me.

Cons: No PoE plug is included, kind of a bummer - for the price it should have one, not worth taking an egg (only half an egg).

Other Thoughts: This is an enterprise device - definately should have an understanding of Cisco devices before installing this. Note the default username and password is cisco/cisco, not what's found in the documentation.

Pros: Cisco's know reputation for a superior product second to none.
The GUI to setup the router is very very good, very self explanatory to have this unit up and running in a couple of minutes.

Cons: The fiasco experienced with Newegg losing one of these at the warehouse. Wow, what nightmare that was..!!

Other Thoughts: This is a great router for the money if you are looking to learn the Cisco IOS for CCENT/CCNA studies and it is a great home router. This router will give you many years of great service without having the worry needing to reboot once or twice a month, and or purchasing new routers every two years. Over the past 5 years I have purchased the 3 of other leading brands that last for about 2 years or until the warranty expires.
Cisco has a reputation for rock solid/ high quality products that last! One other thought, you get what you pay for....period.!

Pros: Incredible versatility, Cisco dependability

Cons: High learning curve, avoid GUIs

Other Thoughts: This is not a beginner or entry level router. This is for certified network admins. SSL VPN is a great option, but it's not free nor should it be.

This is a command line programmed router with a GUI included, but as anyone in networking will tell you, always use command line.

Pros: Cant think of any...

Cons: Never have i written a review for any items good or bad that I have purchased. This time however... I feel so strongly that this unit is the worst router that I have ever seen. The CCP is terrible, the GUI itself sucks, and on top of that you need to pay for a SSL Vpn license. Not once did any of the cisco reps ever mention this to me. DO NOT BUY THIS
