5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Price, firewall (content filtering), multiple SIDs, ease of use. This thing packs a LOT for the price. I did get it on sale, but even at everyday price, it is a good buy.

Cons: None that comes to mind. I am very happy with it.

Other Thoughts: I was reluctant to get this after reading some of the reviews. I have had a few little quarks with it, but nothing that wasn't quickly fixed. I did update firmware before doing anything with it. I haven’t had to reboot or anything. I do not run a very sophisticated firewall, mostly content blocking. I have noticed no slowing. Range covers everything fine in my 2,100 sqft home including upstairs, garage and proprieties around the exterior. If you are familiar with basic networking and firewall concepts, I don’t think you will have a problem with this. I highly recommend it!

1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT buy this product

Pros: The wireless router aspect works well. But if you're just looking for a wireless router then you'll probably want to go with a cheaper alternative, right?

Cons: You're probably looking at the router because you want to set up a simple VPN. Unfortunately, the VPN feature is difficult to configure and challenging to get working even in what I consider a simple network topology. The documentation from Cisco is incomplete and even scouring the internet for help leaves one with an incomplete set of instructions. There's nothing "quick" about this VPN. The web interface is buggy and slow. Cisco's QuickVPN client sports a user interface that makes one think it was left half-finished. Be aware that their client only works on Windows! If you have a Mac then you have no choice but to use Cisco's insecure implementation of PPTP, which has been arbitrarily limited to five users.

Other Thoughts: I originally purchased one of these units at a local store when I was visiting my in-laws so I could set up remote access for their small business. The promise of a simple VPN setup and Cisco's generally good reputation factored into my decision to choose this model. I was unable to get the VPN working and ordered a second unit from Newegg when I got back home so I could figure it out before my next visit. I finally managed to get it working at home before realizing that it's useless to me because my new laptop is a Mac.

Save yourself a lot of time and frustration and go with a different VPN solution. I wish I could bill Cisco for the number of hours I wasted trying to get this piece of junk working!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Small business class router at an affordable price. I have not had any of the problems other posters have complained about. I have set up port forwarding and this is working without any problems.

Cons: I have not had any cons yet. Everything seems to be working as it should.

Other Thoughts: The only issue I have had was the power blinked off and I had to reboot the router to get back on the internet.

1 out of 5 eggsRV 120W

Pros: None.

Cons: Bad news sright out of the box:
* Over 3 minutes to boot.
* Over 2 minute to switch IP.
* VVVVERY slow user interface. You could leave with this.
* Annoying to a level that makes you pool your hair.
* You'll get a free Daily Freezes from it.
* Your VoIP Devices will not function properly.
* You'll not be able to access websites hosted in your network.
* You'll enjoy Cisco's worse customer support / service.
* You'll spend your days trying to make it work.
* You'll have to return to your clients and hear their complaints.

Other Thoughts: I bought 3 of them, RV 120W, based on Cisco good reputation. What a horror mistake it was.
All 3 units, right out of the box, gave me problems for hours.
Nothing works right out of the box.
Slow Annoying user interface. LOWEST RELIABILITY I ever recall, and I am an IT for over 20 years.
This company took the wrong turn a while ago, and provides you with beautiful garbage products.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible product

Pros: Price

Cons: 1. Unstable.
2. Had to RMA a unit - never had to do that with Cisco before.
3. Interface doesn't match Cisco's own vocabulary very well.
4. Locks up.
5. Cisco couldn't even get the time to function properly. The first unit I had you could not set the time zone to mountain time zone. I had found a bug. They fixed that one very fast, but come on! That has to be a fundamental thing to check before shipping. Looks like they are still having time bugs 3 firmware releases later.

Other Thoughts: Unstable, horrible router. Cisco should have pulled this product back in and refunded every owner. This is the first Cisco product I have had to RMA in 10 years.

Other Cisco products are GREAT - not this router though.

1 out of 5 eggsThis has Cisco branding?!

Pros: It's a router/firewall. Nothing special.

Cons: Unrealiable wireless, and when it does work the performance is very poor. No special features that justify the price tag. (you can get the same feature set out of openwrt or similar on linksys or netgear) Admin interface is very slow. I honestly can't believe a company like Cisco would put their name on this junk.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid

Pros: It has a simple GUI and a lot of features. You can configure a guest wireless on a separate subnet. You can add in static IP addresses in DHCP.

Cons: The hardware is unstable. I was trying to configure VLANS on the ports and when I made a change, I lost all network connectivity. I tried to reset the device to no avail. It basically locked me out.

Other Thoughts: Don't go with this. It is one of the Cisco's experiments after buying Linksys. You will be better off with a true Cisco or other product.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: NA

Cons: When I first bought this router (at another shop) I had issues with it. I did a search and found that it was a firmware issue. I was shocked that CISCO shipped a faulty product I mean come on its CISCO!!. Tonight I tried to change some settings and the GUI wouldnt even load properly. I tried to down grade to the previous firmware and the issue still remained. Every other CISCO device I have personally used has been flawless but this router is stranger danger do not buy it.

Other Thoughts: CISCO you failed me for the last time. I will now switch all my networking devices to Juniper Networks.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this Router

Pros: Nice features, seemed like an ideal solution for a small office.

Cons: It completely failed after an hour of use. Cisco tech support could not get it to work, suggested I RMA it. I had to return it for a refund because an unreliable product like this cannot be used in a business environment. Lost restocking fee plus return shipping. I will buy a router from another company.

Other Thoughts: Whenever you see the "Cisco Small Business Investment Protection Program" sticker on a Cisco product it's because the product is no good, and they know you will need to upgrade soon.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsNot A Good Choice

Pros: Nothing. This router is very unreliable. Internet freezing on a constant basis. VPN is terrible.

Cons: Very Unreliable. I installed at a company and got lockups and complete internet loss. This is after the current firmware upgrade. Which by the way, in order to fix alot of issues, they broke more, like DMZ.

Other Thoughts: I would seriously consider a different router. This is a box of junk.
