2 out of 5 eggsWAN WiFi fails with multiple APs

Pros: Numerous features and configurations. Site to Site VPN works very well once configured.

Cons: When there are multiple access points (AP) on the network, any device that switches to another AP will no longer be able to access the internet. Local network access still works. The only resolution without losing your configuration is to backup the router configuration, reset to factory defaults and then restore the configuration.

Additionally, if you want to use the IPsec VPN option, this must be configured before you setup your site to site VPN, otherwise you'll receive an error your subnet is already in use. The work around is to delete your site to site VPN, setup your IPsec client VPN and then reconfigure your site to site.

Other Thoughts: I will contact Cisco support to report this bug and see if it can be placed into their next firmware iteration. Cisco directly recommended the RV130W to me as the latest supported VPN Router for small business. This isn't how I wanted to spend a Saturday on memorial day weekend, but I need this for my business. If they don't have a resolution I will be returning these since I need multiple AP's to work.

1 out of 5 eggsSevere issues do not buy

Pros: The device has everything one would want from a remote office VPN router.

Cons: It does not work as advertised. 4 hours of troubleshooting 2 of which with Cisco tech support confirmed the device has a known issue with Cisco internal BugID CSCus36164.
Getting a hold of Cisco tech support was a project in itself. Finally I got to an agent and it took him two hours to find the internal bug report on the issue that already existed. He needed handholding and steering all the way and saving from his own confusions. In any case the tech confirmed there is no ETA for a bug fix, which renders the device useless. The bug means you cannot have two VPN tunnels to a remote subnet that starts with "10.nnn.nnn.nnn".
With no ETA for a fix in sight this device should not even be sold any longer, as it is known to Cisco that it is in key areas not conforming to the advertised product features.

Other Thoughts: The device has other issue like the web interface becoming unresponisve at times and being generally sluggish in response. Many reboots required during configuration. For the price this would be acceptable although other Vendors like TP-link show it can be done a lot better. Stay away from this device and save yourself some grief.

5 out of 5 eggsHas Everything You Need and More. MOAR!

Pros: Has a setting for everything.
Surprised to see specific settings in a Low Priced Router.
Can Have this Router do whatever you want with great Ease in the GUI (Graphical User Interface)
Security Options are High
Great Router for a Small Business Server/Home Server environment, where other will be connecting to you via the Internet.
4 different channels for WiFi (802.11x) to separate Networks from admins, users, to guests (if you wish)
High Memory to support the use of vLAN. (Virtual Local Area Netowrks) To place others on different vLANs to keep shared files to a specific group, like Sales, and Marketing.
This Vendor Shipped it quickly, and all was right according to the description. New/Unused, in box, wrapped, Perfect.

Cons: Some of the Explanations may be difficult, and many normal users will need to use google to explain what different features mean/how to use them.
It gets warm, Probably a bad idea to stack books/papers/insulating materials on top of it. Gotta let 'er Breath!
Probably not the best Home router, There are too many function and features.

Other Thoughts: I am a Certified CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) which means I have taken Cisco Courses and passed the Exam for: Enterprise level/Professional Routers, Switches, and Network/Infrastructure.

***Important, This is a Small Business Class Router. You MUST Update the Firmware to the Latest Version.***
Firmware updates are released for a reason. It costs the company Lots of money and they do it because it must be done.
In my case, I was unable to Connect to the internet until I updated my firmware. Thank you - Speedy Technology Solutions (SpeedyTechSol.com)
