5 out of 5 eggsGood little switch

Pros: I bought two one for my media room and one for the office. The one in the media room easily handles audio streaming. The other switch in the office handles 1080p streaming and game data from Rift (MMORPG) w/o any issues.

Cons: It doesn't put on a laser light show

Other Thoughts: These were very inexpensive, half the price of retail stores.
Keep in mind these are dumb switches, they do not support management protocols like SNMP.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Customer Service

Pros: Small desktop switch

Cons: Defective, right out of the box. Customer service was terrible and very frustrating

Other Thoughts: The TE-100-S5 that I purchased was defective, right out of the box. I was forced to speak to 4 different technicians over a week’s time. After a total of 2 1/2 hours of frustration, during which I was asked to perform the same mundane tasks over and over (which included testing 4 different LAN cables), it was finally determined that the brand new switch is defective. TRENDnet customer service finally directed me to their web site to submit an RMA ticket (another inconvenience, rather than the rep on the phone submitting), which I was told would result in them replacing my defective unit free of charge. In fact, the RMA ticket directed me to ship the defective product back to TRENDnet, insured no less, at my own expense and at a higher cost than I paid for the device when originally purchased. Poor quality and terrible customer service are a bad combination. I have since purchased a TP-Link switch which worked immediately, right out of the box. In spite of everything, I would have been satisfied with them shipping me a replacement at no cost. Very disappointing.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great until a power surge.

Pros: Works as advertised. No issues.

Cons: Apparently one good thunderstorm can cause this thing to burn out, even while it's plugged into a surge protector. Didn't know power surges could travel over Ethernet. Now I know.. Thanks TRENDnet!...
