1 out of 5 eggsGarbage!

Pros: I didn't get cut opening the package

Cons: A pure piece of garbage. I build systems for a living and have purchased hundreds of items from newegg. This is the worst of the worst

Other Thoughts: Did I mention that this is garbage?

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for transferring video

Pros: My laptop didn't have a firewire/IEEE 1394 input, so I got this card. It was really easy to setup and worked just fine. I could transfer my home videos from my camcorder to the PC with any problems. I was using a ThinkPad running Windows XP Pro.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Easy to install, fully plug and play. It recognizes my firewire drives with no problems. Great price. Fits securely into my carbus slot. A lot cheaper than firewire 800.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I saw some firewire cards come with a port for an external power supply, not sure if this is useful for some people. All my drives have their own power so I can't see the need for such a thing.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: if it worked i bet it would be cool

Cons: garbage. Touchy connections and a flimsy 1394 input end means camera/hard drives etc are only connected intermittently. Worse than useless, and one has to go thru Trendnet for any warranty coverage.

Other Thoughts: go for something more robust-- it was obvious this one was creaky as soon as it was out of the package.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Ok

Pros: Worked right out of the box with XP. Connected to my cannon mini dv without issue.
New egg delivery was great as expected.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: Sticks out more than I would like but not a real issue for me.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Recognized right away by XP in my Lat D610. No problem daisy chaining my ext. hd in an Ultra enclosure (Prolific chipset) and my NEC dvd burner in a no-name enclosure (Initio chipset).

Cons: Seems kind of big sticking out of my laptop, but I haven't seen other models to compare.

Other Thoughts: I haven't noticed any speed difference between using this card and the built in firewire in my old Sony laptop. If anything, I think the link is more stable with this card than with the built in firewire. I also use this card occasionally to network my two computers and share an internet connection.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks!

Comments: I got this card for xx after rebate. Installation was painless: plug it in, and XP recognized it right away...no drivers. I needed it to import video to Adobe Premiere elements from a Sony MiniDV deck. This card made that whole process a breeze. A co-worker needed to do the same thing: she borrowed my card, and it worked just as well for her, on a different model laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

Comments: After hours of figuring out that the built-in 4-pin firewire port on my laptop didn't work, I gave in and bought this card--and it works like a dream. Within 60 seconds of plugging it in I was recording and editing video from my DV camcorder. A great way to edit video on the road!
