5 out of 5 eggsWorking for me

Pros: A few minutes to setup. And it works,

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to replace a 5 year old Rev 1 version of the same model that had started to drop connections. For $30 and 5 years ($6 per year), I figured I would try the same unit.

I used the same settings on the new unit as the old unit. All computers, Kindles, cell phones, etc connected with out any problems or changes on those devices.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good, but has 100mb network port

Pros: Maintains a solid and stable wireless connection, easy to configure. Small, has two external antennas (good signal strength).
Good upgrade from a 54mb 802.11a/b/g device and/or good addition to a 100mb wired network.

Cons: If connecting to a wired network, only has a 100mb port. SO, you're still limited to that wired speed even if you get a good wireless connection.
Also, it reboots at every single click of the Save button and takes 60-90 seconds to come back. It would be much nicer to have Save AND Apply Settings buttons and only reboot once after all screens have been configured.

Other Thoughts: It's a very good device as long as you don't mind being limited to 100mb speeds (about 6-8 megaBytes per second real world speeds) regardless of the wireless connection speed and quality.
If used as a wireless repeater to another WAP with a gigabit ethernet connection, it may give higher throughput.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Can't get it to work, so I can't really review it.

Cons: The setup is not "easy". How can it be "easy" when it doesn't even work?

When going through the setup wizard, on Step 8, where I am supposed to select the router from the list, it doesn't even show up in the software. However, my PC can see the wireless signal being broadcast.

I tried circumventing this by connecting to the wireless network range extender manually, but again, that's a no go. There's no mention in the manual about configuring the device through a browser either.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear TRENDnet Customer,

We are truly sorry for this matter. If not mistaken, assume that you failed to use it as repeater, instead of access point. If wizard doesn't help you may log onto TEW-637AP to configure using 192.168.10.100 via browser. Please feel free to contact me at adrian@trendnet.com with "Newegg TEG-637AP" in the subject line and I will assist you immediately to get it up and running. Thanks for taking the time to review our product.

Warm Regards,
Adrian, TRENDnet Sales Team.

1 out of 5 eggsContinual Drops Even After Firmware Upgrade

Pros: Small profile, excellent size for a paper weight

Cons: I suspect it is the "green" capability. While using the device it works nice. Wait an hour...then you have to reboot the thing to get the WIFI working again. Don't wast your money on this unless you want to use it as a paper weight on your desk.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal, easy install!

Pros: Installs in 5 minutes without tech knowledge. Great signal.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to extend the range of the signal from the router that comes with Verizon FIOS. The CD walks you through the whole installation with no problems and explains things well, even if you don't understand networking and security.

5 out of 5 eggsVersion is unknown

Pros: Easy to set up

Cons: The latest version is V3 of this product. The pictures on Newegg are for the old versions - the new version lays flat horizontal. Order this over the phone and confirm the latest version; otherwise you risk the hassle of returning it if you get an old version.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: It's a great, cheap way to add access points to my network. It can lay on its side or sit upright in the stand.

Cons: Nothing bad about this that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I have had one of these for 3 years now, and I'm about to buy another (or possibly 2 more... I haven't decided yet). Simply great!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat AP

Pros: Setup couldn't be easier. If you need an access point, you can't go wrong here. Several reviewers claimed to have had problems setting this up as a repeater or for some other purpose. This unit was primarily designed as an access point. The installation instructions do not cover setting it up for any other purpose. I bought a second one right after installing this one.

Cons: I can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: The advertising incorrectly says that setup is not required. Of course that is ridiculous, but the setup was extremely easy.

1 out of 5 eggsNot A Repeater

Pros: it arived in a timely manner

Cons: The device is advertised as a wireless repeater. It is not. The hardware version 3 has NO support for wireless bridges outside of a special bridging mode where the devices must communicate in the clear or with wep and must all support it and know each others MAC addresses. I spent 5 hours trying to get this device to bridge to no avail. Trendnet shows the UI config page with a field to enter the MAC address of the AP you wish to bridge to when you enable bridging. When i enabled bridging on this it did not do so. Furthermore I enabled WPA2 encryption but the device insisted on using an unsecured network dispite the fact that the WPA2 encryption was enabled and configured.

Other Thoughts: I bought this device for a client because trendnet WAS a reliable lowend brand and price was an issue. Aparently this is no longer the case. Now i'm going to have to eat the cost of buying him somthing that i can gaurentee works...
