1 out of 5 eggsNOT TRUE PRINT SERVERS

Pros: The device may work fine (I never used it with Trendnet's "Client software", so I was never able to test it out), but since I have to use their software to get the thing to print, I never used it.

Cons: These are NOT true Print Servers. You MUST load their (Trendnet's) software client on every computer, and use this software in order to print. Again, these are NOT print servers. Very disappointed that this was NOT made apparent.

Other Thoughts: I also called Trendnet Support to see if there was anyway to use these like a normal printer server, i.e. with an IP port that all computers on the network could use. The answer was " . . . sorry. you must load the Trendnet client software on all computes and use it to print." Really? How can they call this a "Print Server"?????

1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality

Pros: Hmmm. It sets up easy enough. All software install.

Cons: This is supposed to be a print server. The problem is that you have to "take control" of the printer when you want to print. If someone else is in control of the printer, you have to ask them to "disconnect" through the software and then you can "connect" to it and print. Really unrealistic in any environment. For instance in my home, I have to "disconnect" on my laptop in order to print on my desktop. Then I have to "disconnect" on my desktop to print on my laptop. Really??

Other Thoughts: Who would design a wireless print server that only allows one person to print at a time? Very problematic.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk

Pros: Functional paperweight.

Cons: Doesn't work. Would never connect to a typical wireless network and even when wired, it would take forever to respond on its web interface and wouldn't respond to pings. Never got a chance to print with it. Poor quality, sending it back.

Other Thoughts: All I wanted was a simple wireless print server that listened on port 9100, is that too much to ask?

2 out of 5 eggsNo Win 7 x64 Support!

Pros: -Seems to work well on XP and Vista x32...sort of.
-Despite what people are saying, the wireless works fine for me. All it needed was power, and it flawlessly connected to my wireless router.

Cons: -It seems like almost every time you want to print something, you have to manually connect it with the software, instead of anything automatic.
-Windows 7 x64 seems to have problems. The utility installs and runs, but it never actually sends print jobs out.

Other Thoughts: I bet it works in the 32-bit version of Windows 7 (haven't tested it though), but it's very frustrating that they haven't made 64-bit drivers for this print server, especially since 64-bit OS's have been available for years.

Considering how much this print server costs, unless you have a very expensive printer, this probably isn't worth the frustration and hassle. If you only use 32-bit OS's, you'll probably be able to use this, but always having to reconnect is annoying. It deserves two eggs for at least being somewhat functional, but there's plenty of better print servers out there that are much more fairly priced than this one.

1 out of 5 eggshorrible device

Pros: small

Cons: everything. bought it thinking it was vista compatible as per the specifications on their website, find out after 1 yr of attempts at setting up, it has a faulty vista driver. i have a home network of 1 XP PC, 1 Vista and 1 Google OS, not one of these PCs were able to connect to the print server accurately. it also doesn't stay connected for very long. been over a year and this server set-up is still incomplete for my dell printer. just don't buy this product.

Other Thoughts: buy a printer with a wireless card. cheaper and easier to set-up.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks - sort of

Pros: Nice wireless range, small

Cons: Does not function bi-directional. After 10 min of inactivity it needs to have the power recycled to work again. TrendNet customer service is a waste of time. installed on a very stable XP home platform and is very disapointing. I have another wired adapter to parallel port from Trendnet and it is flawless. 2 years and still going strong.
Very poor product.

2 out of 5 eggsMy Experience with this Product

Pros: None

Cons: Purchased product because of Vista support. Expected some problems based on various blogs. But...I never got to the wireless stage. 2+ hours with Trendnet technical support resolved nothing. Product could be set up with proper IP, but could not print. Could not access printserver via IP nor could it be pinged. The setup software could commnicatie with the device with no problem. Suspect that the device driver was not really Vista ready.

Other Thoughts: This could be a nice wireless print server if the Vista driver were ready for prime time. And yes, I did disable the firewall before beginning this interesting adventure.

3 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy this Server

Pros: It would not work with my printer. Look up the list on Trendnet's web site to be sure the printer is compatable.

Cons: This print server is deceiving to the customer. Only certain USB printers will work with this device. My HP 7760 was not one of them.
Signal level it picks up is poor.
