The TEW-635BRM Wireless N ADSL2/2+ Modem Router from TRENDnet is as powerful as it is versatile. As a modem, it supports various ADSL standards, up to ADSL2+. On the router side this unit provides both 10/100 Ethernet and Wireless-N connections for easy integration into your existing LAN or WLAN network. It uses the latest Draft 802.11n wireless technologies offering greater range and data speeds than the older standards, while still being fully backwards compatible — perfect for mixed-mode environments.

The router's MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) technology also makes it a natural choice for multimedia fanatics, minimizing errors and optimizing data speed through the use of multiple antennas for both sending and receiving.

You don't have to worry about security, either, with Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) or WPA security and 64 bit and 128 bit WEP keys. The Web-based setup utility will have you up and secure in no time.

  • newegg MIMO Technology MIMO (Multiple In, Multiple Out) technology multiplies the effective data rate and uses signal reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area.
  • newegg Solid Security The TRENDnet TEW-635BRM supports 64/128-bit WEP, WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryption for highly secured data transfers on your network.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks As Advertised

Pros: I like the fact that you have all 3-in one unit, DSL modem, Router as well as Wireless support for the price that I paid, <$100.

Cons: The unit does appear to run hotter than usual. Being black it doesn't help. I'm using a small portable fan to blow air across it. With that, the unit stay really cool. If you don't do this, my bet is the product will NOT last more than a yr. I've seen this in pretty much most of these routers as well as modems, not enough cooling.

Other Thoughts: As earlier reviewers stated, I noticed a long time in connecting to my ISP (ATT-Yahoo) after the modem was configured correctly. You need to be patient "IF" you've configured correctly because it could take ~30sec to a 1min before the Internet light turns on with the ADSL solid. Also, the Auto-Configure kept selecting the wrong setting for the DSL line type. I reset that manually to 0 and 35, it kept defaulting to 8 and 35.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive Solution for ADSL networks

Pros: Lighting Speed coupled with 2.0 N draft AP wireless repeater.
Stable wireless connection.
Runs warm during high traffic.

Cons: Long delay in obtaining ip for router from ISP at v1.00.09.
UPnP is “Not available” on the PS3.
Lost packets captured in Network analysis S/W when UPnP "Hops” setting is default setting.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this router is worth the money spent. Figuring that the costs almost double for the Netgear equivalent.

Speed and Connectivity are great. S/W limitations are minimal.

And when having a problem obtaining ip from ISP. Try “Status” ? “Connection Details” ? “Connect/Disconnect”.

DirectTV to PC Beta application does work with this wireless gateway at v1.00.09.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks!

Pros: Customer support hotline was good. Could not get working out of the box with AT&T DSL. The setup wizard couldn't get the settings right. Called AT&T and their support hotline is a joke. Got hung up on twice, put on hold for over 10 minutes, and transferred almost every time I called. Called Trendnet, got a helpful tech. Walked through the wizard, manual set up and voila, I am now connected to the internet again.

Cons: Automatic Setup wizard did not work with AT&T DSL

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the trouble

Pros: Wireless speeds were good, but that's where it ends.

Cons: Had trouble from the time I got it out of the box. Could never get it to connect to AT&T's Direct DSL service. Called AT&T to get all the info, they were very helpful even though they didn't support the router. It would always detect the DSL connection but never authenticate (no matter what I tried even with the AT&T rep on the phone).

Finally called TRENDnet support, they suggested firmware update. BIG MISTAKE. As soon as the firmware installed, the router rebooted, I tried to setup my connection again, and it quit working.

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant to purchase this because of the mixed reviews, but I can say I probably won;t be buying anything from TRENDnet in the near future. The design was flimsy and heated up pretty quick, not to mention the firmware update fiasco. Luckily it happened soon enough that Newegg will give me a refund.

1 out of 5 eggsIt really smoked

Pros: Easy set-up

Cons: It failed after one week. Smells like burnt electronics and am shipping back to Newegg. I have had other Linksys products that worked without a hickup. This one was (like everything else today) made in China...go figure!

Other Thoughts: Linksys support keep me on hold forever, with a repeating recording suggesting that I got to their web site for assistance. Bummer!

1 out of 5 eggsI hate TRENDnet

Pros: Works

Cons: I hate trendnet. Out of 3 products I purchased, this is the only one that is working. It was no fun to configure and I am very experienced at setting up networks. Could not get an internet connection with Verizon until I went throught the dos in Vista64! Input ipconfig and Viola! an internet connection. Never would have figured it out through their documentation or support. Cheap, flimsy build. Antenna broke on first day and it wan't being toyed with. Mostly angry about the way they sate that their product interface so easily with each other which is not at all true. I have set up at least 30 networks and could get no where with this - why? their products don't work together!! Nice touch guys.
Stay away unless you want to deal with slow, unknowlegable supprt people who cant answer your questions anyway until you ask it about the 30'th time.
Didi I mention I hate their products?

1 out of 5 eggsWould not Connect to AT&T ADSL

Pros: Newegg took it back

Cons: Problems from the beginning, out of the box the unit would not accept a lower case DSL username or password. After a firmware update the unit accepted the credentials but still could not connect to AT&T DSL and finally after a reset the unit completely died.

Other Thoughts: In the box nowhere was there a phone number for support - just a Website address, but when this unit fails you loose access to the Internet so you can't get to the support website. After reconnecting and reconfiguring my old equipment I was able to get online and get in touch with phone support. The heavily accented support personnel were somewhat helpful - they knew about the password problem and firmware update, but beyond that the support seemed scripted and very limited. After two call I tried the Online help desk request and did get a response for four days when my ticket was closed without resolution.

5 out of 5 eggsBest and only Wireless N DSL modem/router

Pros: ADSL2+ works with Verizon DSL, the only Wireless N draft 2 DSL modem/router, Two wireless networks - one for home users and another for guests/visitors. Supports up to 300Mbs

Cons: No gigabit switch only 100Mbs ports.

Other Thoughts: If you're replacing a Verizon router, remeber you will have to wait a couple of hours before you can get a DHCP address from Verizon. (two hours in WA state), so don't get discourage right away if your DSL is working but your Internet isn't when you first connect it to the Verizon network.

5 out of 5 eggsThird one is a charm.

Pros: Great router/modem ADSL gateway, After upgrading the firmware, device functions wonderfully in my network scheme.

Cons: Minor problems with this router/modem in the beginning, however a good stable ADSL N Gateway.

From my experience with this device, it may not be able to function in AP repeater mode. However Linksys WRE54 Range Extender still works with this TEW-635BRM gateway even through this gateway may not support AP repeater mode.

Other Thoughts: Great alternative to the “Other Big Boys”. Having many computers and game consoles. My network requires instantaneous high bandwidth, I am very satisfied with the purchase of this product.
