Instantly create a Gigabit network with TRENDnet's TEG-S80G and instantly start saving money on operating costs.
The TEG-S80G features 8 ports for you to connect different devices to, however, TRENDnet distinguishes itself by being energy-conscious. When ports are empty, the switch will provide less power to those ports. The same is true when connected devices are powered off. Finally, the TEG-S80G also scales power depending on cable-length.
If you're looking for a fast solution to Gigabit networks and also want to save money, then there is no substitute for the TRENDnet TEG-S80G switch. Own it today!

Love it
-
- Pros: Probably one of the best network switches I have worked with. Setup was easy, just plug it in, plugin all your network devices along with your internet connection, and your on in seconds. It's that easy. All computers with GB LAN cards were able to connect at the rated speeds and the transfers were very fast. I also like the metal casing.
TRENDnet kept their word on the switch being green. I took a power reading of it which was just 1 Watt. Most of my other routers and switches use between 5 and 11 Watts.
Great product, highly recommended.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: The video shows the packaging, manual and the switch itself in action. It allows you to see it's size compared to a six inch ruler, also shows the size of the power adapter and the different colors for GB (green) and 100 Mbps connections (orange).
First gigabit device
- Pros: My fast ethernet home network is getting long in the tooth. This is my first fast ethernet switch. It seems to be nice, quiet, and cool to the touch. It draws about 1 watt. My 2 gigabit ethernet devices register correctly (green light) and other non-gigabit devices register orange / amber.
- Cons: When reading the manual, I discovered the jumbo frame size support for the 8 port model (the one I ordered and am reviewing) is smaller than for the 5 port model. Worse the size of the jumbo frame on my 8 port device is smaller than the largest frames on my Linkstation NAS.
As a result I have to run 7K jumbo frames instead of 9K from my Linkstations.
The 8 port TEG-S80g supports up to 9612 byte jumbo frames. The 5 port TEG-S50g supports up to 12k byte jumbo frames. I did not know this at the time of purchase.
I don't understand why the price of this device and its sister 5 port device keep changing.
- Other Thoughts: Aside from the jumbo frame issue, this device is working well. I have no other complaints. The price was good ($29 at the time of my order) with free shipping.

Works Well
- Pros: The adapter is Energy star rated (7.5V DC @ 1A) Power consumption @ max is 3.96 watts. not to bad for something that has to be on all the time.
- Cons: None yet !
- Other Thoughts: "short changed", the Guide states that the power outlet should be within 1.82 meters (6 feet) of the switch. Well my cord length is only (5 feet). not a big deal, for some but i needed all the length for my install, just thought it was funny! they must be trying to save money!
I'm using all the ports and @ first two of my three Gigabit conections would'nt work @ the gbps untill i moved them together #2, #3, #4 ports then they worked. not sure why?
Fantastic Little Switch
- Pros: This is a fantastic switch for the money, we bought 5 of these and all are functioning flawlessly. Excellent throughput, plug and play no headaches no hassels
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: For a SOHO or anywhere you need a little bit of network expansion, this is the perfect switch. Runs very cool
- Pros: gigabit, price.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: watch for sale or rebates.

Highlights
 |
Gigabit Network Connectivity The TRENDnet TEG-S80G integrates 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet technology that provides a tenfold increase over 100M Fast Ethernet and a hundredfold increase over 10M Ethernet, to raise the speed and performance threshold for a converged network.
|
 |
Half/full-duplex Support With full-duplex support, the TRENDnet TEG-S80G works at a maximum 2000Mbps on each port (doubling the speed of normal half-duplex devices), and is also compatible with half-duplex mode.
|
 |
GREENnet Technology GREENnet is a TRENDnet switch-based technology that determines and supplies the appropriate amount of electrical power for each switching port as required by the connected device, by the port or by the length of the connected Ethernet cable. GREENnet technology can reduce power consumption by up to 70%.
