Instantly create a Gigabit network with TRENDnet's TEG-S80G and instantly start saving money on operating costs.

The TEG-S80G features 8 ports for you to connect different devices to, however, TRENDnet distinguishes itself by being energy-conscious. When ports are empty, the switch will provide less power to those ports. The same is true when connected devices are powered off. Finally, the TEG-S80G also scales power depending on cable-length.

If you're looking for a fast solution to Gigabit networks and also want to save money, then there is no substitute for the TRENDnet TEG-S80G switch. Own it today!

  • newegg Gigabit Network Connectivity The TRENDnet TEG-S80G integrates 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet technology that provides a tenfold increase over 100M Fast Ethernet and a hundredfold increase over 10M Ethernet, to raise the speed and performance threshold for a converged network.
  • newegg Half/full-duplex Support With full-duplex support, the TRENDnet TEG-S80G works at a maximum 2000Mbps on each port (doubling the speed of normal half-duplex devices), and is also compatible with half-duplex mode.
  • newegg GREENnet Technology GREENnet is a TRENDnet switch-based technology that determines and supplies the appropriate amount of electrical power for each switching port as required by the connected device, by the port or by the length of the connected Ethernet cable. GREENnet technology can reduce power consumption by up to 70%.

2 out of 5 eggsMajor flaw in the Design

Pros: Fantastic when it works. I had this for more than a 3 months and bought it direct from trendnet when it was just out as a a new product.

Cons: Recently I tried to wall mount this product and all of a sudden the unit power snapped! I then returned the product to trendnet and got a replacement today.

It worked! I then tried to wall mount it and the power snapped again! I am 100% positive that there is some kind of power shorting takes place when you wall mount the unit!

I have entered my complaint with trendnet and told them essentially to send me a replacement without me shipping the product again! This time if trendnet sends me a replacement I will NOT mount this in the wall!

I am not sure why trendnet did not discover this REPEATABLE problem!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little switch

Pros: No issues with gigabit speeds, not even over a 50ft length of old Cat5. Price!

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't expect this switch to fly with 6 or more computers on it all constantly swapping large files, but for home use by myself in my apartment, it is perfect.

3 out of 5 eggsOK 'til it failed

Pros: Worked fine for 18 months...

Cons: 1 year warranty is too short. I get a power-on light, but it doesn't recognize cable connections on any port at any speed. Acts like the internal processor died.

Other Thoughts: Housed in a well ventilated closet on a surge-protected UPS and by far got the least amount of traffic of all my switches, yet still failed. Most switches I've owned have been bullet proof. Apparently not this one.

I'm not one to give a 1-star rating just because the one I got happen to fail prematurely. During its life I was actually quite pleased with the price/performance of it. I understand poop happens, it's just not fun when it's your turn to step in it. (Especially when the warranty had already expired.)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch

Pros: Great switch, set it and forget it. It's been working flawless for almost a year now. Transfer speeds between server and PC are smokin' fast.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: No hesitations about buying another if needed.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little switch

Pros: Great simple switch. What's to say, you take it out of the box, plug it in, connect your lan and pc, then it just works. Love the small size, makes it easy to move around if needed.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Price was right and shipping was free. Made this purchase even better.

1 out of 5 eggsLemon switch - Horrible Customer Service

Pros: Ummm - it looks nice ?

Cons: The switch did not work. Well it sort of worked at speeds of 20Kb a second - yup worse than my dial up in the mid 90s.
Unfortunately for me I had rushed to cut out and file for the mail in rebate (which I hope I get to recoup some money at least). So due to that fact I could not return to newegg and was stuck dealing with TrenDnet. Customer service is of course in a third world country and barely understands English. They never take notes so whenever I called back I had to re-explain everything again. Total nightmare, it is like pulling teeth with chopsticks. I am an IT professional who works with thousands of computers and of course I was asked ridiculous questions by their "tech support".

Other Thoughts: 2 lessons for me:

#1 Never, never, never buy TrenDnet equipment
#2 (which I should have known) don't cut out UPC code before you make sure it works. *sigh*

Manufacturer Response:

Valued customer,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you and would like an opportunity to resolve your issue. Please e-mail us at sales@trendnet.com, reference "New Egg Product Review" in the subject line and someone will contact you in a timely manner.

Thanks for your support of TRENDnet products.
