Instantly create a Gigabit network with TRENDnet's TEG-S80G and instantly start saving money on operating costs.

The TEG-S80G features 8 ports for you to connect different devices to, however, TRENDnet distinguishes itself by being energy-conscious. When ports are empty, the switch will provide less power to those ports. The same is true when connected devices are powered off. Finally, the TEG-S80G also scales power depending on cable-length.

If you're looking for a fast solution to Gigabit networks and also want to save money, then there is no substitute for the TRENDnet TEG-S80G switch. Own it today!

  • newegg Gigabit Network Connectivity The TRENDnet TEG-S80G integrates 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet technology that provides a tenfold increase over 100M Fast Ethernet and a hundredfold increase over 10M Ethernet, to raise the speed and performance threshold for a converged network.
  • newegg Half/full-duplex Support With full-duplex support, the TRENDnet TEG-S80G works at a maximum 2000Mbps on each port (doubling the speed of normal half-duplex devices), and is also compatible with half-duplex mode.
  • newegg GREENnet Technology GREENnet is a TRENDnet switch-based technology that determines and supplies the appropriate amount of electrical power for each switching port as required by the connected device, by the port or by the length of the connected Ethernet cable. GREENnet technology can reduce power consumption by up to 70%.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Strong Construction
Works out of the box
Good Price ($30)
Easy to mount on wall (Command Strips)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Spend the little extra money for the 8 vs 5 port, better to have a few extra ports then 1 short. Worth every penny.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Choice

Pros: I've had this switch for 9 days. It is totally plug and play--just plug in cables and it works. There's no complex management interface like you have with a router. You DO still need a NAT router to use along with this if you want to access the internet via cable modem or DSL (a router will use DHCP to assign an IP address to each computer and device on your network--the switch, if used alone, can't do this). Most wired routers are 10/100 but this switch is Gigabit (100/1000) so, if you plug your computers directly in to this switch, you can transfer files between them at gigabit speeds. You can google LAN Speed Test to find a nice freeware utility that will measure you transfer speeds. Make sure you use Cat 5e or Cat 6 network cables if you want gigabit speeds. This switch is all metal and I can see metal heatsinks inside it. It doesn't even get warm sitting on my desk (unlike my router).

Cons: Not really a con but Newegg insists I list something here. No crossover cable is needed to connect your router to this switch--a "normal" network cable will suffice. That being said, if the internet doesn't work, unplug and replug the power for the switch. This "reboots" it and it takes right off...

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless Operation

Pros: Gigabit speed (AFP transfer rates avg 50MB/s, SMB gets up to 100MB/s between my home machines!), affordable, multiple ports, nice status lights and I'm really happy the ports are on the rear of the unit. Came with nice rubber feet to stick on, but also has wall-mount/under desk mount option.

Cons: trendNET? I wish the actual manufacturers would just brand them for what they are. "Qualcomm something something" or "Foxconn" -- not sure who trendNET is and frankly I've had bad experiences with their products in the past. However, this switch has changed my opinion

Other Thoughts: I'd buy this switch a second time, and will consider doing so again if I need to expand anymore in my home.

I have this switch extending my Linksys/Cisco E3000 router running DD-WRT and the speed through the switch to any client either direction is simply wonderful! Basically no network lag even while streaming 1080p from one host to my PS3 and others watching netflix at the same time.

5 out of 5 eggsHelped my HTPC

Pros: I had an old 10/100 router hooked up to my router that acted as a wired/wireless switch for my HTPC setup across the room. I hooked up the TEG-S80G and plugged in the HTPC stuff + the old router and have seen speeds go from 8.5MB/s to 40MB/s on wired connections. Nice. Great value, metal case is nice.

Cons: None really

Other Thoughts: I should have bought two of these.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Iv got this on sale at xmas time for 20 bucks and im very impressed at that price point. I mainly just use this for when i have a couple friends over for a small lan party. iv had a couple months and it has worked perfectly fine. If you find this on sale and need a switch i recommend this one.

Cons: A friend of mine has 2 or 3 of these and has had his longer then i have had mine and also has had zero problems with them he says for now he will buy trendnet over netgear because he has had a hand full of netgear 5 port switches go bad in less then a year while his trendnet ones that cost less money are still holding up .

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like it should!

Pros: Unbox, connect devices, plug in. Everything works like great. 1gig on all my devices now. This really takes the strain off your Router (If you are like normal folks and plug your devices into your 4 port router). Keep your WAN and LAN traffic seperate.

Cons: none that I have found

Pros: *Fast!
*Cheap
*High build quality
*Cheap

I have several, so do my friends. None of us has even experienced a failure on 10+ units.

Cons: *None

Other Thoughts: You'd be hard pressed to find a better performing device at this price range, I have several and they're still going ticking after years of service.

5 out of 5 eggsSOLID

Pros: -Solid Build
-Reliable Gig connection
-Powersaver

Cons: -can't cook bacon

Other Thoughts: I had an issue with my linksys switch. I was getting half-duplex of a couple of drops. I after buying this one I was able to get a full 1gig connection. I have two and get lightning fast connection when I transfer files. Highly recommended
