1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the plastic it's made of.

Pros: It works... sometimes.

Cons: Hahaha... where do I even begin? Constantly drops connection, hooked up to xbox, it connects for 2 to 5 minutes at a time, every now and then there is the one 30 minutes of connection. Cannot upgrade firmware, don't even try, it detects every single browser under the sun as chrome in which a message pops up "We do not support firmware upgrades with chrome", I tried firefox (primary), then safari, then internet explorer (as pictured in manual), detects all as chrome, I don't get that mess at all. What else, oh yea, you can't even access, well actually you can, during the solar eclipse, I was able to access it 3 times ( or ( to attempt firmware upgrade after resetting it to try and resolve the dropping connection issue. Last (I am running out of room) i think i am able to configure it 1 out of every 10 tries. In conclusion, connections last 2-5 minutes, detects every browser as chrome, so can't upgrade firmware, configuration succeeds 1 out of every 10 tries (must of lost 5lbs running up and down the stairs to press WPS button), and can only access the thing once in a blue moon.

Other Thoughts: Other thoughts you ask? I personally never owned a trendnet product that wasn't a total piece of junk, it won't even hold down a piece of paper it's so light, that must explain everything. It seems they are notorious for dropping connection. TEW-652 replaced by asus, so much better now on the sending end, the 647GA is going in the trash.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat tech help

Pros: Works great after configuring the device the first time, when it is new out of box. Connects DVD player to home network very easily. Contacted TrendNet for tech support, responded with great tech support, showing how o do configuration step by step without the wizard program. The device works great again.

Cons: After couple resets, can no longer complete configuration by the Wizard: always receiving "Unable to complete the configuration."

Other Thoughts: In general, TrendNet devices have not disappointed me.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Works great, easy install/connect

Cons: None to date

Other Thoughts: For the $40 I paid for this, the quality can not be beaten. Kept up speeds playing games like WoW and BF3 with friends who had wired internet connections.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Purchase Ever!!!

Pros: None, Never able to use it.

Cons: There are no Pro's to this and I thought the people who wrote some of the reviews did not know what they were doing. It might be a software or hardware issue... It cannot even see my SSID or any for that matter, then it see's it. It is not consistent at all...

1 out of 5 eggsCompletely useless

Pros: Absolutely none, it never worked

Cons: - Could not change password
- could not connect to any of the 3 networks I tried (2 secured, 1 open)
- the famous "unable to..." message shows at almost every step

Other Thoughts: I bought this at $20.

Every time you see these 50% off deals you know something is up. The quality control is atrocious. Whenever you see the problem being software/firmware related it is a clear sign that basic quality checks are simply not in place.

Don't bother replying to this review, I have no interest in RMAing a $20 purchase or even trying another product by this company.

Ridiculous experience

1 out of 5 eggsDon't count on an RMA

Pros: Works well for a while.

Cons: After it quits working, and it will, they don't respond to RMA requests after filling out their forms on their website.

Other Thoughts: Not good for streaming video through consoles. Seems to have more problems as Xbox upgrades their services.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in the rain

Pros: Small form-factor
Strong antenna
High Bandwidth
"Water Proof"

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I left this out in a heavy rainstorm by accident :( But to my surprise, it works like new after letting it dry a week.

I now use this as a 'repeater' where I plug this into another router so I can use the internet on the opposite side of the house - my laptop was getting <5mbit, this is getting >50mbit.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the price

Pros: small product footprint, 3 year warranty, WPS feature for those who prefer to use it over manual configuration.

Cons: Hard copy of the the install manual doesn't mention the product static IP but it is in the soft copy on the enclosed CD. ( This product is missing the 'save configuration' option. If you cycle the power on it by unplugging it or losing power at your home then you will need to log into it with a PC to set it back up again.

Other Thoughts: I realized after purchase it was a discontinued product (from the manufacturer). I certainly hope that TrendNet will support this product and fix the bug that is still in the latest firmware. Unless someone can tell me how to SAVE the configuration so the device still works after a power cycle that would be excellent.

2 out of 5 eggsDead?

Pros: Worked great initially, easy to set up (for me, anyways). Slim, easily fits in my work area.

Cons: Seems to be dead after less than 2-3 months of use. Granted, I am using it to play MMOs on my desktop (currently don't have a way to run an ethernet cable to my modem, as it's quite far away), but I expected more.

Other Thoughts: I originally had ordered the TEW-684UB USB adapter, but that didn't work very well as it kept causing issues with my USB ports (whenever I tried to load a game + Skype/streaming videos, it would cause all USB ports to be undetectable. Tried resolving, no luck), so my boyfriend ended up ordering this one (TEW-647GA) for me. It worked great initially, but within the last few weeks has been having connectivity issues off and on. Today I can't even log into the device to reconfigure it, resetting with a paperclip seems to do nothing, and my computer can't connect to or ping the default address for the adapter (I never changed this), even though there's nothing wrong with my computer and the LEDs on the adapter are trying to tell me that everything is fine with it as well.

Frustrating beyond belief. I should have just gone with a wireless card to begin with. >_> Not looking at TrendNet anymore.. first impressions aren't worth much if the quality declines so quickly.

Manufacturer Response:
