1 out of 5 eggsNo Luck with Verizon!

Pros: Looks shiny!
Pretty lights!
Handsome box!
Great features list (on handsome box!)

Cons: Won't hook up with my Verizon DSL :(

Other Thoughts: It looked like setup was going to be a breeze! Unfortunately I couldn't pass the final system test (wouldn't connect to Verizon), even though my DSL connection was fine.
Called Verizon and spent an hour trying to configure setting.
Then called Trendnet and spent another hour trying to get it set up. Tech supervisor told me to have Verizon tech call on a conference call.
Called Verizon, who called Trendnet, and we spent another hour & 1/2 trying to figure it out. (Fortunately my old Actiontec unit hasn't fully melted down, and is still functional!).
Trendnet tech has to refer to a "Level 3" technician. This technician won't be able to call me back for several days. They "think" the problem may be a software bug, rather than a hardware issue (so a replacement unit wouldn't help much).
As Pete the Pirate says: "AAAAAARRRRGGHHH!!!" (I think it was right after he scratched himself with his hook)

Manufacturer Response:

Valued customer,

Please contact us at and reference "New Egg Product review" to expedite this issue.

4 out of 5 eggsFYI

Pros: Very nice replacement unit for Telco supplied DSL Mode/Router. Detected ATM (DSL signal) line right out the gate. Good price point for hardware, comes in slightly below telco replacement. Port Forwarding and other features are nice if needed.

Cons: Would like some more features and information screens. NAT/PAT seems to be functioning properly, but no setup screens or information screens for verification. No collision or line status information. Syslog's may provide more information.
No WAN setting screen, wizard only.
Non-standard IP range ( is unusual, but can easily be changed; I don't remember the subnet being changeable though for more restricted/ or larger networks.

Other Thoughts: On Verizon/ Ex-GTE areas where Bridged/DHCP is used on the WAN side. Auto detect might work fine, but just in case. VPI 0, VCI 35, LLC, Bridged/Dynamic IP. The Logical Link Control (LLC) was not detected proplery on mine, and will not work with Virtual Circuit Multiplexing (VC).
Verizon's tier 3 help tech's could not assist with this equipment specifically, but did get me down the right track eventually.

5 out of 5 eggsVersatile

Pros: Provides quick/easy set-up and installation. Administration very easy to understand menus provide you a quick walk-through for a solid set-up. No problems thus far. Supports URL Address Filtering

Cons: Would like to have the ability to "White List" URL Address Filtering, as well. Maybe in a future Firmware upgrade (?).

Other Thoughts: TrendNet support quickly responds to any questions you may have. Very user friendly.
