1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: Decently fast hardline speeds

Cons: Constant loss of WAN signal. If you needed to reset it, you had to pull the cable modem, then replug in the router. Dropped connection, disappointing WiFi range. Not worth the packaging it came in. Will not be buying a TRENDnet product again.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy, swapped for a refurbished asus model, been great so far

1 out of 5 eggsNothing redeeming about this router

Pros: Had a good wired gigabit connection for the price but now I have to reset it often.

Cons: Wireless is pretty much useless. This has a worse signal than a $10 off brand I have. I hoped this would be an upgrade but I'm going back to the old router. Wireless has to be reset often even when I can get connected. I've had many routers before and this one ranks dead last.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsGreat When It Works

Pros: Fast

Cons: Was fine for a day then it stopped communicating with my DSL modem. I try powering everything down and then backup but after a couple of hours the problem always comes back. I can ping other comupters on the network but can't access the DSL modem.

Manufacturer Response:

We would recommend re-flashing the unit with the latest firmware on our website, reset it to factory defaults and then reconfigure it. If you still cannot establish a link to your DSL modem with the appropriate settings please email Adrian@trendnet.com. We will have someone assist you as soon as possible.

4 out of 5 eggsworth the money

Pros: worth the $19.99 with the rebate....a good and should be reliable spare

Cons: not worth much more because of the limited firmware changes that can be made and it doesn't give me the range in my situation that I got from Netgear 3500L with tomato firmware.

4 out of 5 eggsAm I expecting too much?

Pros: t's almost impossible to find wired only gigabit router at an affordable price, so I bought this instead. Almost gigabit performance - I get about 750 Mbps on the switch ports.

Cons: I have been unable to get anything beyond 230 Mbps when routing through the WAN port. The WAN port is connected to a ZeroShell router that I know can achieve 780 Mbps.

Other Thoughts: I know this is a consumer grade device, and the performance is beyond what most consumers would need, so it's good for the money.

3 out of 5 eggsFine if you want a simple AP router

Pros: This is a fast router/AP with some advanced settings for those who like to tweak for performance.

Cons: WDS does not work with my primary ASUS router, period. I spent a week off and on trying to get WDS up and running. I would have preferred a bridge or repeater setting, but that was not available in the stock firmware; only WDS which is always iffy no matter the brand. There is no third party software support; not DD-WRT, OpenWrt, or any other (unless you want to start tweaking and building some of these builds yourself).

Other Thoughts: If you need one AP/router and want speed, then this is a good bet, especially if you can find it on sale. If you need anything more advanced or bridged, forget about it.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Anonymous,

I am sorry for your frustration on the WDS feature. Please email me directly at adrian@trendnet.com with "Newegg TEW-691GR Review" in the subject line and I will respond immediately to assist you in getting the WDS up and running. Thank you for taking the time to review our product. We hope to hear from you soon to regain your trust in TRENDnet.

Warm Regards,
Adrian
