4 out of 5 eggsGets the Job Done

Pros: We have 2 of these installed, wirelessly bridging 2 buildings (45' apart and walls are thick concrete) via the WDS feature. Setup is simple and straight forward.

1. Wireless bridged LAN via WDS (WPA2-PSK secured)
2. Functions as WDS bridge AND wireless AP at same time .

Cons: Requires power cycling every few days, but in my experiences that seems pretty standard with cheap consumer grade equipment anyway.

Other Thoughts: Cheap and Functional. Spend more money if you want more signal strength and reliability.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Super easy to setup as a secondary access point for the other side of my house. Just ran the setup utility, put it in the other side of the house and connected an ethernet cable and it was running smoothly. Good coverage and speed, supports a good amount of devices at once. No problems whatsoever.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you just need a simple and speedy AP, don't hesitate to get this.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT a bridge

Pros: Cheap as an AP only.

Cons: Not a bridge, despite advertising and package labeling. Just a cheap/junk AP.

Other Thoughts: Not really a bridge, as advertised. Supposedly easy to set-up with WDS, but truly impossible to set-up, even with them sitting adjacent. Tech support is poor, providing only canned answers that barely even touches on the question(s) asked, and wholly a waste of time.

2 out of 5 eggsHad to return it

Pros: Small, compact

Cons: It seemed like it wanted to work, but actually made things worse...Bought this for a friend in another state as a solution to a wireless dead spot in her room in the basement.

1) Included manual is not very extensive in telling you how to set it up with the many different functionalities that it claims to have. It is just a basic setup as far as I understand. Had to go to Trendnet's website to get the full, most up-to-date manual. Friend was wanting it as a repeater, and that is where we found the instructions.

2) When setting it up as a repeater as instructed (AP Mode Support), the unit somehow made everything not work...it knocked out her wireless connection altogether, and I have no idea why that happened. After unplugging the TEW-650AP and doing a HARD reset on the host router, wifi was restored. We tried it a second time. Again, no more wifi! Both times it happened after setting the TEW-650AP to "AP Mode Support", entering the MAC of the router, and changing the SSID/wireless encryption/wireless channel of TEW-650AP to exactly match the router's.

Other Thoughts: I'm not an expert, but I don't think the TEW-650AP should be able to kill the wifi signal from any router, but apparently it did. I told my friend it was a defective product and I sent it back to Newegg. Maybe it really was a dud, I don't know. If it were me, I'd definitely try to work with it more and call Trendnet's customer service, since they seem to be very responsive to customer feedback here on Newegg. My friend didn't want to go through the hassle, so just had me return it and get something else.

To replace it, I got the "NETGEAR WN1000RP-100NAS Wi-Fi Booster for Mobile" Item #: N82E16833122483. I was in town for the weekend, so I actually set it up for her. It worked right out of the box, but she has been complaining about the connection to her iPhone 5. Hopefully it works out, but that's beyond this review.

Because it caused a lot of trouble, I was only gonna give 1 egg, but I'm adding an extra one because previous reviews suggest that Trendnet has good service. Their website is resourceful. I even found an "emulator" for the web configuration interface for the TEW-650AP on their website. It was very helpful as I guided my friend on how to set this thing up. If interested, just google "TEW-650AP emulator" and it should come right up.

I'm not one to usually give up on a product, but it was not my decision. Wish I could have worked with this product more. Unfortunately I have to give a negative review, but as I said, I probably got a defective product, which happens every now and then.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks; get what you pay for

Pros: - Solid price point for a wireless N router
- Disabling WPS for security reasons actually does work (some routers don't actually disable WPS when you tell it to)
- Decent feature list

Cons: - Drops wireless connections infrequently but reliably
- No ethernet switch built in

Other Thoughts: We've had it for a business for over a year now, and it's on it's way to being replaced. We regularly have about ~15-20 laptops and phones on it, connections are dropping daily, if only temporarily.

Lately it has been requiring a reboot to allow users to connect again. We got about a year of decent use out of it. Will probably replace with a better AP that can run DD-WRT or Tomato.

5 out of 5 eggsI Love It

Pros: Simple to setup, works great. I have installed one in my own house and multiple clients - all working fine

Cons: Costs more than the wireless-N router it's extending...

Other Thoughts: ...but it's still not TOO expensive, especially compared to other WAP's out there

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, easy to set up, works fine. I had no issues installing it on my firewall router, and I'm happy to have wap2 security on this connection.

Cons: Wish the range were a bit farther.
