The 200Mbps Powerline AV Adapter Kit with Bonus Plug, model TPL-304E2K, uses any electrical outlet to create a secure high speed building-wide network. Connect one adapter to your network and plug another adapter into any electrical outlet on your electrical system for instant high speed network access.

Never lose an electrical outlet with the built in socket on the front of the adapter. A Noise Filter maintains optimum connection speeds when everyday household appliances such as toasters, washing machines, and coffee makers create electrical background noise.

Power Save mode reduces power consumption by up to 70%. Quality of Service technology prioritizes video, audio, and online gaming. Advanced AES encryption secures your network. This adapter is ideal for use in buildings that interfere with wireless networking signals.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect alternative to wireless.

Pros: I've installed 4 in my house and the connection is stable, the speeds are decent. Very easy to use right out of the box.

Cons: As many others have stated, it is bulky. Perhaps the new version will allow enough room to reach the empty outlets. All it would take is a slight redesign of the box edges.

Other Thoughts: The unit furthest away from the others will occasionally lose it's connection. Easy to reset it though.
Other than the outlet issue, it's a great product.

2 out of 5 eggsDead in six months

Pros: Easy to setup. Slightly faster than 300mbps wireless connection card.

Cons: Leaves you with only one power outlet where you plug it in at. The power sockets on mine died within six months. Only has a 3 month warranty. Speeds weren't reliable and disconnected quite often. Waste of money if you ask me.

Manufacturer Response:

Valued Customer,

Please note that this item has a three year warranty directly from the manufacturer. Please contact us at sales@trendnet.com, reference "New Egg Product Review" and someone will contact you in an expedited manner.

5 out of 5 eggsplug and play

Pros: super easy to install: plug one into your router/switch, plug the other somewhere else in your house (on the same circuit) and it works; this helped me get internet connection at back porch

Cons: both AC plugs covered when this is plugged in; no way around this without an extension cord (and I haven't tested whether an extension cord would affect performance - seems another reviewer reports working, but at slower speeds, which sounds OK)

Other Thoughts: I was impressed by how simple it was to install

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, but to big

Pros: Start to work right after plug it in. When power fuse burned out data connection stays.

Cons: First, it is too big, and takes over both outlets, no matter in which you plug it in. I bought it to connect my work-group laser printer, and pug it in to adapter; the power fuse burned out momentary. Fortunately data connection stays, so I decide not to RMA. However, to have other outlets to work, I had to use six outlets extender, which made everything much bigger. There are some issues with data speed, while one connection in the room and other in the hallway next to it, data speed is perfect, and all indicators are green. As soon as I connect them on separate floors E-Link turns yellow and speed drops a little, and when I tried to use it on the other end of 100-feet extension cord outside of the home (not rolled in one circle) E-link got red, and the speed became pretty slow.

Other Thoughts: It hard to say that it is a good alternative to the wireless connection, maybe only if you have walls with a lot of metal in it.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to Use. Works Great Plugged Directly!

Pros: Just received this a week and a half ago, but didn't have a chance to rewire the house until today. I was other using Homeplug AV devices of different makes and I wanted to unify them, so I bought a set of two (four units total) the other day when these babies were on sale for < $40 shipped. They work great when plugged in directly, depending on where in the building. Overally, very easy to use and setup using the "sync" button.

Cons: They performed poorly on power strips or surge protectors, and also in some parts of the house. This has absolutely nothing to do with the device! This has to do with the electrical wiring in the house, which just happens to be krah-pee. Can't blame the device. The other Homeplug AV devices I had before had the same problems.

Other Thoughts: The manual doesn't explain how to quickly and easily configure it for pros like me. The "dumbed down" instructions were too dumb and time consuming. I bypassed the instructions and figured it out myself in a few minutes and had all four units working throughout the house in under 5 minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: works great. I expected to put in some time to get it going. In few minutes I was on the internet. great price. a pair of them for $40.

Cons: a bit bulkie and it takes up both the power plug on the wall but I guess it is expected. At least the unit gives one back.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Work great in a 3000 sq feet house. Easy to setup. 1 set has 2 pieces, buy 2 set, you will have 3 pieces Ethernet connection. Buy 3 set you will have 5 Ehernet connection.

Cons: no comment

2 out of 5 eggsSecond opinion

Pros: Easy to set up. nothing else.

Cons: After i left my positive review i had nothing but bad experience with this thing. First of, this super huge plastic adapter will take both your outlets away.

Connection speed is extremely slow.. Red light will blink almost at all times, no matter how i connect it around the home and set it up speeds are 1.5 mb/s avg. Sometimes i'd get it to 3mb/s transfering single files such as movies... that's 4x less then N wifi router.

Do NOT waste your money on this thing unless you wanna use it for email and IM only.. Save your $ and get another router and bridge your home! this is worthless especially for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Does just as advertised, nothing more. Quick to connect, just plugin and go. Speeds vary but seem about as fast as 54g wireless at this point. Worth noting I have new wiring in my home.

Cons: Takes up both receptacles. That's about it though, it works really well for what it does.

Other Thoughts: I have not tried more than one line with this, assume it is downhill for more than one run.

1 out of 5 eggsDid Not Meet Expectations

Pros: NewEgg return policy is the pro on this.

Cons: Challenging to get to work. Finally after going through the manual It worked Ok. But a few days after that it Quit working and Never came back to life. Same wall sockets and Same computer. The set up has Not Changed. It failed.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg return policy is the Greatest. I just returned them and will purchase something Else From NewEgg that will work for me.
