1 out of 5 eggsDid Not Last

Pros: Easy to install. Worked well most of the time

Cons: Both units would lose power (no power lights) for unknown reasons. Sometimes come back on, and this last time did not come back on.

Other Thoughts: I have a trendnet router that I love, but don't think I would buy powerline adapters from trendnet again

2 out of 5 eggsDon't buy.

Pros: Works fine after 15-30min

Cons: Unreliable. Very laggy & unstable before 15-30min after you start your computer. It seems like it needs times to wake of a sleep before starting to work well. Utilities to check adapter doesn't work. It doesn't see anything so I can't check if I need to update firmware.

1 out of 5 eggshorrible customer service

Pros: it worked for a day

Cons: when i first got it plugged everything in. the powerline did not cnnect to each other. so i called customer support the first time they told me there was a technology difficulty so they didnt even bother to help. i called back 30 min later they tryed to help but i got no where. i finally got it to work in the next couple of hours later. the next morning i woke up the pl light was not on for both of the adapters... so i caled back jut now they told me the same thing when i called the first time.."technology difficulty" they said. if you guy have problems with understanding people with accents i suggest you dont call them. i did not understand what there telling me with there hardcore accents. i REGRET spending so much and gaining so little.

Other Thoughts: never buying a product from them again. worst customer service i experience...

3 out of 5 eggsOK Product for Trendnet

Pros: Fast when working.
Well priced.

Cons: 2nd Failure in 1 month.

Other Thoughts: I usually purchase Trendnet products because of their reliability, however these powerline adapters have been nothing but problems for me. I upgraded from the Trendnet 200MBps to get better speeds, and really, the only increase of speed was the gigabit LAN (which should be on the 200MBps adapters anyway). One adapter failed on the second day so I RMA'd through newegg and dished out some time and money to ship back. 3 weeks after receiving new adapters, 1 fails again. Now I have to RMA through Trendnet and ship out and wait again. Too much trouble! I will be considering a different brand from now on.

4 out of 5 eggsIt just works (so far)

Pros: I have a rather large 2 story house and my two APs downstairs were not reaching the other end of the house upstairs. I tried this set and it just works. I wanted to connect my barn to the house to run IP cameras, but have not tried that yet. That is the only reason I did not give it 5 eggs.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I didn't need any driver software installed. Windows7 Pro 64-bit just detected the DHCP server and got it's address over the ethernet port. Cool!

3 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with home wiring

Pros: Unit works flawlessly fast out of the box for short duration runs in a house with a mix of wiring from the 1930's, 60's and 2000's. Conceptually, this is a great product that I would recommend to anyone with new electrical wiring and very few large appliances that is looking to extend their network to a location that they would otherwise have to run cable to reach.

Cons: Not compatible for longer runs in homes with old nasty eletrical wiring. In our home (built in 1930, remodeled in 1960) I was only able to get 20-25 feet from our computer room before loosing connectivity.

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Just plug in and they work! I connected a router in the basement to a switch on the second floor. All computers up and down can see each other over the network immediately with no setup. Didn't even have to press the 'sync' button.

I get ~52% network usage on computers with 100Mb NICs on either side of the devices according to Windows 7 network monitor which is fast enough for me.

Cons: I wasn't able to get the monitoring software to work but the speed seems pretty good so I'm not concerned about it.

Other Thoughts: Speed through these devices are highly dependent on your house's wiring and especially if you have appliances on the same circuit. A lot of reviewers have dinged off eggs because of bad wiring or whatever that's not the devices' fault. It's like complaining wi-fi doesn't work well through thick walls if you ask me.

I probably could have gotten the 200Mb version but the 500's were on shell shocker. I haven't been able to get their exact speed (see cons) maybe because both are plugged into switches instead of straight into computers.

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING!

Pros: The way this house had been expanded over the years, hardwiring cable from the fairpoint modem to where my computer is, would be a nightmare. The wi-fi signal is only 550 to 1100 Mbps sometimes higher but averages 1100Mbps. I researched every option and desided to try this. It is AMAZING. The signal is not just going through a different breaker, it is routing through a different breaker panel. Because of out proximity to Fairpoint, we can get slighly more then the guaranteed 7000Mbps. The bandwidth coming in is 7000Mbps and I am getting the full 7540Mbps. I had my reservations, but this house wiring is the test for this technology and it it passed 100%.

Cons: Haven't found any.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Alternitive to Wireless

Pros: While I have a very high power access point the devices that are on the other end can not handle the distance. The install was drop dead easy. I decided to see how idiot proof I could make the install. Just opened the package, plugged in the Ethernet cables and plugged them into the electric sockets. checked the connection and it was solid, I have never gone back to see what I could have done to make it harder, never even looked at the lights on the units. I am using these to stream 1080p video from both the net and from the other dvrs in the house and not problems with speed.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I have read other reviews about them failing after a month or so, it's been 6 weeks and all is well. I did not post the speeds you will get in reality compared to the 500 on the box. Even the engineer at Trendnet says that you should never expect more then 1/3 what it is rated for so since it I knew that before buying I was forwarned. Also it can stream 1080p both directions at once and that is more then I could have asked or needed.
