Other Thoughts: I bought this for an HP Pavilion s7727c that I "inherited" and decided to use to replace my very old Dell that I had been using as a supplemental server at home. Since this HP only has one low-profile slot, I needed this to add the second Ethernet port, and it has worked great. The server runs Ubuntu 10.04, which recognized the card and started using it without manual intervention of any kind.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to convert my daughter's ancient HP Pavilion S7727C desktop into a Linux box to run MineCraft servers for my kids and their friends (so it had to be visible on our internal network as well as exposed to the Internet), and this was the perfect fit (no pun intended) for the only expansion slot, a low-profile PCI slot. It plugged in, Ubunti 10.04 recognized it right away, and within a few minutes we were off and running, with the kids and their friends happily playing in two different MineCraft worlds hosted on there (which, thank goodness, no longer have to run on my main server). It seems pretty fast in comparison to other PCI NICs I have, although it's hard to tell for sure since the traffic on this port is bandwidth limited by the cable connection to the Internet, but as between this and the cable modem, it looks good.

Other Thoughts: Before I bought Intel 1G NIC card for Linux/Solaris but it's too costly. This NIC card works great for RedHat and Oracle Enterperise Linux 5/6.

Pros: great. plug and play. I use it in Oracle Linux 5/6 and Red Hat Linux 5/6 at home for Oracle RAC. good price.

Pros: I purchased these to use in my Untangle server. Decent quality, cheap, 2gbs.

Cons: Low Profile, without full profile adapters.

Other Thoughts: If your using this is a small form factor then these are perfect, if you want the option for either or, spend more money.
