1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Price
Features
Ease of setup

Cons: Speed
Range

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a older D-Link 150Mbps router. I was expecting better download speed and a stronger signal, this provided neither. I did a site survey and speed test of my old router before installing the new for comparison. I did the same survey and speed test with the new one and the range wasn't as good as the old and the speed test was 1/3 that of my old one.

I found these results to be hard to believe so I did a factory reset and set the router up again. No difference. I am going to return this and try another brand.

1 out of 5 eggsLast TredNet device I will ever purchase

Pros: Looks nice, can always be used a 4 port gigabit switch.

Cons: Pretty much doesn't work as a wireless device.

Other Thoughts: I got this to replace an older TredNet I was using as a wireless access point. That one worked for a few years but recently the 5 ghz band disappeared. I should have used that as a warning sign. I picked this one up because it went on sale for $35. Big mistake. Initially it worked well for about 10 minutes. I got some pretty nice benchmarks, but eventually the 2.4ghz stopped broadcasting. I tried the latest firmware update but it didn't help. Unplugging it and plugging it back in works for a few minutes, but it's pretty much unusable. The 5ghz band seems to be better, but that's disappeared a couple times too and the range is dreadful. I thought maybe I would have less issues since I am using it as an access point only, but I am having the same problems as everyone else. But hey, a gigabit switch costs about $35 doesn't it?

1 out of 5 eggsi should have listened

Pros: experienced with phone support was good.

Cons: slooow, cannot use simultaneous band. frequently drop connection.

Other Thoughts: listened to majority of review and save your money to have ship it back. Spent a lot of hours, between support to get it working right but failed.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Jon,

I apologize for the overall frustration this has caused. As you might know, a Wi-Fi environment might change from time to time when routers are added or removed. Please install InSSIDer on a computer via the following link, http://www.metageek.net/support/downloads/, to locate and configure the least congested channel. If this doesn’t help please email me directly at adrian@trendnet.com with "Newegg TEW-692GR Review" in the subject line and I will be able to assist you immediately. Thank you for reviewing our product and I hope to hear from you soon to regain your faith in TRENDnet.

Warm Regards,

Adrian TRENDnet Support Team

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't hold connection

Pros: It's a nice looking piece of equipment and runs fast when connected.

Cons: I bought this to improve wifi internet for my wireless devices but found it constantly drops the internet signal on WIRED connections. I have a DSL connection and properly configured the router, but half the time I'll hop on the desktop or PS4(wired connections), no internet will be available. I'll have to reboot the router, which brings the net back up, but is a huge hassle to have to do everyday. I switched back to my 10 year old D-Link router which is more than serviceable; I don't have to constantly reboot it. Would NOT recommend.

2 out of 5 eggsDead, can't even factory reset.

Pros: Easy set up. When it worked it was fast.

Cons: One day it just up and quit letting anything connect to it. Even can't connect to it use a PC and a ethernet cable. Tried doing a factory reset and even that diesnt work because it doesn't do no matter how long you hold the reset button.

Other Thoughts: Have to go buy a new router that will actually work.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsReturned mine - nothing but trouble

Pros: The only "pro" I can give it is easy set-up.

Cons: After set-up which was simple I was up and running initially and as I know see in several other reviews I experienced the same issues with this router dropping the 2.4 GHz. After numerous resets and basically wasting a half of day messing with it I packed it back up and requested an RMA.

Obviously there is an issue with this unit.

I would not recommend.

2 out of 5 eggsNot an upgrade. weak & slow

Pros: Inexpensive N900 router, got it for under $50.

Cons: Weak signal and slow on both bands. Slower than my old Lynsys wrt54 and netgear n150 using the same speed test. Had trouble updating the firmware.

Other Thoughts: If I can't get it to run quicker, I may just go back to my old netgear and not bother to buy Trendnet again. Guess you get what you pay for (other than my $20 Netgear).

1 out of 5 eggsCheap is cheap

Pros: 1. It worked well when in working condition.
2. Dual band worked well.
3. Looking good three antennas

Cons: There is only one problem, but a serious problem; continuous disconnection.

I used to use a router from Netgear, Linksys, Airlink, T-mobile all the way from 802.11 b. I never had any serious issues with them. I upgraded my D-link N band router with this Trendnet. It worked very well for around 8 months. Then, it began to make an irregular disconnection. Sometimes, the problem occurred in a few days, sometimes in a few weeks, and sometimes a few months. I later found that the router kept losing IP, or couldn't update the IP info. Every time when this problem occurred, I had to directly connect the WAN cable to my PC and power cycle both modem and the router. A regular power recycle, resetting the router, or upgrading firmware did not help at all.

Before the warranty of the router was expired, I talked to the customer service twice for the same problem. Their answer was simple and terrible. "We don't remotely detect any problem on your router" So they rejected RMA.

Other Thoughts: I check Newegg reviews first before buying any products because they are accurate and fair. I consider to buy one when its reviews are over 85% from 4 stars + 5 stars.

I am sad that I didn't do that for this router because it was on a crazy sale.

In most cases, there are reasons why cheap ones are cheap. But what you need to know is that the service of Trendnet is cheap.

My money won't go for any Trendnet products

4 out of 5 eggsFast - Limited Range

Pros: Fastest speeds ever on my S3 according to Ookla, 6.12 upload on a 5 plan. Download was on par. Can stream movies and download apps to multiple devices at same time with good results. Matching dual band receivers are available.

Cons: The range is not as good as the range master TREND net TEW-652BRP. Compatible dual band receivers are pricey, out of stock and application specific.

Other Thoughts: I have to choose speed over distance or expensive, 2 market, dual band repeaters not sure yet what to do.
