5 out of 5 eggsNice switch

This review is from: TRENDnet TEG-S82G Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Pros: -Worked right-away without any issues.
-No conflicts with new AT&T Uverse Arris modem
-Good quality (metal construction)
-Downloads seem to be slightly faster
-4 rubber feet
-Lights in the front that show activity
-Affordable

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Along with replacing my existing TRENDnet 8 port switch model # TE100-S8, I replaced all my cat5/5e patch cords with cat 7 red patch cords. I feel that it was a wise investment for the long haul because an AT&T Uverse technician came out to fix some problems we were having with the dvr unit. He told us one of the problems was the patch cord going from the modem to the dvr unit. So, he installed a new cat 6 or cat 7 patch cord.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible!

This review is from: TRENDnet TEG-S82G Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Pros: Super fast, metal housing, plug and play, price

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Improved my LAN instantly int the zone of my house I put it in. DLNA devices work 100 times better, my PC is enjoying the extra muscle as well. No more bottleneck, limited by up/downstream from modem. Love it!

5 out of 5 eggsFast, reliable, great switch!

This review is from: TRENDnet TEG-S82G Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Pros: I bought this switch on sale 6/28/2012. I received it the next day and promptly mounted it to a rafter in my basement and plugged it in. This switch has been faithfully serving my gigabit LAN needs for nearly 3 years now, non-stop, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Cons: Really? How can I complain about an 8 port gigabit switch that does its job well?

Other Thoughts: I see some reviews say it died soon so I had to chip in my two cents. Maybe the new ones are more cheaply built? I don't see how or why this thing would fail. It's mounted upside-down on a rafter in my basement for freak's sake, it gets very cold down there (30s) in the winter and in the 80s in the summer.

4 out of 5 eggsWorking

This review is from: TRENDnet TEG-S82G Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Pros: It works.

Cons: I followed the instruction guide and connected everything like it said, but I had no connection to the internet or to the other computers in my network. I had to plug in my modem to my wireless router, then from router to the switch for everything to work right.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and reliable

This review is from: TRENDnet TEG-S82G Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Pros: Fast. Reliable. No problems.

I have run this switch non-stop for over two years now. I plugged this switch in July 1st of 2012 and it's never been unplugged since. It serves up my 2 DirecTV DVRs, 2 HTPCs, Xbox, and other stuff I have used on my network that I can't even remember in those 2 years (other computers I work on for friends/fam, BTC miners, etc). I have had no problems with it at all.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: My LAN is blazing fast but the Internets can't keep up with my LAN! :)

1 out of 5 eggsPoor link speed

This review is from: TRENDnet TEG-S82G Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Pros: Nice Metal Case, Low power consumption, Small Power Supply

Cons: Replaced my Zyxel 5 Port with this because I needed the additional ports. My HD streaming is now choppy and my TV signal drops. If I put the Zyxel back in everything work fine, I just have to swap the Blu-ray for the Roku since I'm 1 port shy

1 out of 5 eggsStick to TEG-S80G V2 if possible.

This review is from: TRENDnet TEG-S82G Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Pros: Returned it before I even opened it, but if it works as well the: TEG-S80G V2 than its good.

Cons: No more wall mounting holes
No more speed 100/1000 LED indicators
And apparently this model now does not have shielded connectors

Other Thoughts: I have 2 Synology’s, and when off their connection is 100 vs 1000; fact that I can no longer look at the switch and know the status of the Synology’s was the breaking point.

And their tech support is nonexistent; you will ask a question, get it read back to you, then an answer on something completely else. After 30min I had to demand, not ask, demand over 10 times of getting no where to speak with a supervisor to gather the facts above.
