2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-751DR N600 Dual Band Wireless Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: Provides both 2.4ghz and 5ghz 802.11n connectivity as advertised.

Cons: Bought to gain 5ghz connectivity but the 2.4ghz range is much less than the range of the 2.4ghz router it was replacing. Putting original router back in service.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend to anyone. Would send back but it's not worth it due to return shipping costs.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Midlander,

We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the TEW-751DR. Try adjusting your channel selection and placement of the unit to see if that helps. You can change the channels on each band on the Basic > Wireless page. Avoid enclosing the unit in any type of shelving. Preferably mount it as high as you can and avoid placing it near anything that may cause radio frequency interference. Like a cordless phone or wireless baby monitor. If you have disabled the SSID broadcast please make sure you turn it back on. Disabling the SSID broadcast can cause connectivity issues. To ensure you connect at 802.11n specs make sure you are using WPA2 AES encryption.

Adrian

3 out of 5 eggsHas a few issues

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-751DR N600 Dual Band Wireless Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: Has about the signal strength and range that you'd expect from your average router, maybe even a bit better.

Cons: Consistently drops connections when four or more devices are connected.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsMeh - moved on

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-751DR N600 Dual Band Wireless Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: Dual-band, works pretty much as expected (except see Cons below), setup not really difficult, customer support exists

Cons: I found the range to be inadequate - upstairs signal even on 2.4 ghz not powerful enough to be stable or even provide a connection. Could get a connection in rooms closer to the router, but it was disappointingly weak. Customer service *did* respond, and tried over the phone to use Insiider software to minimize interference, and, supposedly, correct the weak signal broadcasting problem. No dice - regardless of channel used, signal not acceptable over any range. Certainly not gaming-grade by far, if that's you're streaming aim. So, if you want a dual band (think it also has a guest signal - nice touch), you're going to have to rely on it only for devices in the same room.

Other Thoughts: I really used this product for a pretty short time. Found a deal on a TP Link AC1750 that provided both good range and somewhat future-proof speeds. Never looked back at this item, which sites on a shelf now. But, for $20, you probably get a little bit more than what you pay for.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's probably best bang for the buck

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-751DR N600 Dual Band Wireless Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: Decent speed (I'm not a gamer, just a streamer).
Very inexpensive for a N router.

Cons: Not really (no sophisticated access restrictions as Tomato provides, but okay)

Other Thoughts: Can't go wrong for a moderate streaming network. Replaced a netgear that kept failing under same streaming load (netflix, youtube,...)

1 out of 5 eggsDont Waste your Money

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-751DR N600 Dual Band Wireless Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: none

Cons: very slow router signal very weak keeps dropping signal took over 2 hours to install which should have taken 20 mints or less went back to my netgear router which works flawless gave trendnet a shoot and it let me down

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We are sorry to hear that you had an issue with the installation of the TEW-751DR. The router is pre-configured for your convenience. At most, you may need to configure the WAN port. The default setting is for DHCP which is common for most ISPs. Typically this only requires a reboot of your modem to clear any previous DHCP lease. If you would like assistance with the installation please email Adrian@trendnet.com and we will have someone assist you as soon as possible. Please include a link to this review.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat For The Price!

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-751DR N600 Dual Band Wireless Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: I needed a new router. An originally $80 router for $20. Hard to pass up trying it. I expect it to last a year.

Cons: Had some initial issues getting it to work. Got Trendnet support to help out and between us communication, the router is working.

Other Thoughts: As above, can't beat the price for this type router.

4 out of 5 eggsTrendnet TEW-751DR N600

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-751DR N600 Dual Band Wireless Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: Replaced router from Optimum. It works well. The TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 which people complained about. It was registering 36 - 49 Mbps via speakeasy.net. My internet speed is officially 50 Mbps. You needed to set the wireless to 20hmz/40hmz. My son said the 5G was only 5Mbps slower than the Optimum. That would be 50Mbps vs. 45 Mbps. The wifi connection signal doesn't fluctuate, unlike the Optimum router that was provided to me. My Dell 1520 Vostro only downloads at a speed of 16 - 18 Mbps. I will need to find a replacement USB Wifi card.

Cons: I have not played with it enough. For $20 it is an excellent solution.

5 out of 5 eggsVery powerful router

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-751DR N600 Dual Band Wireless Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: This router cured my wireless issues. I have had other routers and they did not have the ability to reach to the other end of my house from my computer room downstairs. This solved my issue. Easy setup and great bandwidth with many options.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have purchased other routers in the past to solve this issue. I have purchased a wireless extender, and powerline adapters. None of them worked as good as this router. This router seems to work as I had expected and I haven't had any issues with it yet.
