4 out of 5 eggsDecent router at a good price

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: Works pretty well as far as i can see no complaints but nothing special, but for a very cheap price

Cons: Not sure if it is the router or my internet but about 2 times a week it will disconnect.

1 out of 5 eggsI've bought several

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: I've bought a few for my customers that lasted long enough.

Cons: Two died. I sent one back for warranty replacement/repair after properly getting an RMA approved by them, and they sent me back the same dead device with no comment. I didn't even bother sending back the second dead one after that experience. I won't buy Trendnet routers again.

Other Thoughts: Spend more money and buy something that will outlast the warranty, because they won't replace or repair it even if it's within the warranty. They just send you the same broken junk back.

1 out of 5 eggsTEW-752DRU

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: Much faster than my old Dlink. Easy setup. Good price for what it does.

Cons: 5Ghz not working at all. Work the first day than the signal was non existent or one bar at best. Newest Firmware was installed but still nothing.

Other Thoughts: Can't give a broken item more than one Egg for the rating.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggs5Ghz not working

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: Fairly simple to set up, Better coverage than my ancient Belkin! Gig Wired works flawlessly!

Cons: As others have mentioned the 5Ghz band isn't working, but I really wanted to switch out the router since my Belkin needed rebooting daily after 9 years of pretty good service.

Other Thoughts: Life got in the way of setting this up within the 30 days of ordering. I did try the firmware update, but no go.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: I bought two of these at the same time for different locations. They work great. One is in a house and does well with games. The other is for a church functioning as just a router since they have wifi, 200 plus devices during peek usage. Both worked. I like the newer GUI, I have used trendnet for years and will continue doing so.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: USB on the back, oh yeaaaah

2 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with RDP

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: Port Forwarding works on FTP ports. Wired and wireless connections works well. This wireless router is upstairs in the back of the house. I can connect to the wireless broadcast from the front of my house while sitting in the driveway.

Cons: I can Cisco VPN any-connect to my work PC but this router will not allow Remote Desktop to connect. Essentially, I have to take my Ethernet cable, unplug it from the Trendnet Router and plug it directly into my Modem. Then I can Cicso connect and RDP into my work PC. This action prevents any other PC or wireless device from connecting to the internet while I'm working from home.

I changed my home PC to have a static IP and DMZ'd it. No luck.

Tried port forwarding. No luck.

Upgraded the firmware. No luck.

Contacted Trendnet support and while the front line support responded quickly, they were not able to remedy the problem. They had to contact their technical support which have failed to rectify the problem as well as give me any kind of feedback.

1 month of waiting. No luck.

Other Thoughts: Would like some direction from Trendnet as to RMA this router or give me some kind of resolution.

BTW, my older Buffalo router still works but it has slower wifi and LAN speed so I'd rather get Trendnet working.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We are sorry to hear that you had this issue. Port forwarding shouldn’t be an issue. The VPN connection was initiated from the LAN. The only thing that should be different from the Buffalo router to this router is possibly the default IP address. The TEW-752DRU is 192.168.10.1 which may be in use at your work location and causing the issue. Try changing the LAN address of the of the TEW-752DRU to the same IP address that your Buffalo is using, typically this is 192.168.1.1. If you continue to experience this issue please email Adrian@trendnet.com and we will have someone help you as soon as possible. Please include your contact information and a link to this review.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Wireless Router! Great Price!

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: Integrated into my old network with no problems. Price was great!

Cons: Very Light, network cables pull on the unit.

Other Thoughts: I have 10+ years of setting up wireless networks and I understand and am familiar with all the setting of a wireless router. I never setup the router with the software CD provide and always use the web interface as my main communication with the router. This review is going to be helpful to someone that has experience in setting up wireless networks.

I got this TEW-752DRU because I was seeking an upgrade in my home network performance. I was very satisfied with my previous Trendnet wireless router and was set on getting another Trendnet router. I needed a 4-port gigabit Ethernet with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless N capabilities that can handle WAN(Internet), port forwarding, DDNS, and of course DHCP. This one fit the bill.

Setup was easy. The router default IP address was the same as my old Trendnet router network configuration. I entered http://192.168.10.1 in my internet browser and was taken to the web interface login page to enter the unique password that was on the bottom of the router.

The web interface layout was easy to see and has a nice contrast, nice menu bar off to the side and detail information laid out to be easily read. I use port forwarding for my security camera system and DHCP reserve for my media server and printer, also Dynamic DNS all worked flawlessly and very easy and straight forward to setup. I would like to point out that there are only 24 port forwarding rules you can create at any given time.

Wireless was a breeze to setup. Many options to customize your wireless network for 2.4 GHz and/or 5 GHz, again another straight forward layout. Once I entered the wireless information needed to match the old network configuration, restarted all my devices on the network and everything connected just fine. Wireless signal is no better than my previous wireless router (which had excellent range), however the performance has increase greatly for the devices with 5 GHz wireless N. Same performance if not a little better remained for the 2.4 GHz wireless N and G as the previous router provided. Devices always remain connect and do not suffer from any disconnects.

Gigabit Ethernet was a delight to work with as transfer rates greatly improved from wired device to wired device.

Internet was easy to set up. Once I connect the internet to the wan port. I logged into the web interface and started the procedure to acquire the internet settings from the ISP. It took all of 1 minute to do and my whole network was online.

The device its self is a sleek black box that is very light. My network cables pull it back as if it were popping a wheelie. The plastic is sturdy enough that it wouldn’t warp if you mounted the unit. I also want to point out there are no external network antennas, however wireless range is still excellent.

Overall this unit has done everything I needed it to do and has exceeded my expectations in network performance. The device is still running perfectly from when I set it up the first day. I hig

1 out of 5 eggsI am regretting this purchase

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: quick setup

Cons: I am regretting this purchase:
1) Too much effort (re-booting the device and/or the router) is required to add a new device to the wifi.
2) The MAC filtering serves only to block adding new devices and does not seem to allow "white listed" devices to automatically join the wifi.
3) The wired ports do not automatically devices or allow internet access (requires re-booting the device and/or the router), even though the same device adds immediately to other routers.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Anonymous,

We thank you for your review to bring these issues up to our attention. I would like to know more about your adding new wired or wireless devices without enabling either deny or allow MAC list. Meanwhile, I can’t quite replicate your MAC filtering issue. Please email me directly at adrian@trendnet.com with “Newegg TEW-752DRU review” and I will contact you immediately to assist. I hope to hear from you soon.

Warmest regards,

Adrian

This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-752DRU N600 High Power Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router

Pros: Great router with great speed, steady internet delivery, and affordable. Was easy to set up and secure. Provides quality signal strength at a great speed.

Cons: We have yet to experience anything that we could list as a con.

Other Thoughts: Have yet to really find any cons about the device. It's used in my residence by me & my wife only. Even when friends come over and everyone is on it hasn't disappointed. Thus far it has provided everything projected and continues to fulfill its obligations
