4 out of 5 eggsNice budget Ghz router.

Pros: Easy Setup using WEB based configuration.
Works well with older Motorola cable modem.
GigiHz switch worked well.
Good price for Ghz, dual band wireless router
2.4 Ghz range acceptable in 1500 sq-ft house
6Ghz support worked at short range

Cons: Sometimes need to power cycle modem if router power cycled.
5 Ghz short range of 20 ft
Would NOT connect Dell D620 labtop using 2.4 Ghz WPA/WPA2

Other Thoughts: Bought from local store. Nice budget Ghz router. Easy WEB based configuration. Works well with older Motorola cable modem. GigiHz switch worked well. Sometimes would have to power cycle modem if router power cycled. Would NOT connect Dell D620 labtop using 2.4 Ghz WPA/WPA2 (other routers connect OK) Connected OK to all other 2.4 devices. 2.4 Ghz range acceptable in 1500 sq-ft house but limited to 150Mbps on 'n' band -- could not connect at 300Mbps -- changing bandwidth to 40Mhz may help. Connected at 300Mbps on 5 Ghz at short range of 20 ft in same room or 8 ft through wall/floor. Router is kinda light (could be velco'd to table). Nice budget priced Ghz router if 5hz band not needed. Disappointed in USB port that only supports SAMBA - SMB-based file and printer sharing. Needs firmware update, new update downloaded was over 1 year old. Returned router due to limitations.

2 out of 5 eggsThink Twice Before Buying This Model

Pros: Good coverage on the wi-fi.

Cons: The TEW-752DRU has VERY limited compatibility. There is no way (per TRENDnet tech support) to configure this to work with any other router (even the DSL router supplied by a ISP) to work as anything but a wireless access point (AP). All other router/firewall functions must be disabled in this mode. It can NOT be configured to act as a bridge or range extender. The only way this works as a router is if it is connected only to a modem from your ISP.

When it is configured as an AP it only allows a single user to connect at a time. You can not change the configuration on the AP except by doing a complete factory reset. Then you must go in and re-set all configuration settings. Once that is done you turn it back on as an AP only and you're back to limited function. According to TRENDnet tech support this is, in fact, by design.

Other Thoughts: TRENDnet has some very good products. This is not one of them. Their tech support is less than helpful. Though they do answer calls quickly. I'll give them that.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. The TEW-752DRU N600 Dual Band Wireless Router does only have an access point mode. You will typically find advanced wireless modes in our stand alone access points. For example, a comparable access point to the TEW-752DRU is our TEW-750DAP. It is an access point with Access Point (AP), WDS Bridge, and AP + WDS, Repeater, and Client Bridge modes. To avoid any type of confusion we list out the supported modes in our product specifications. To use the TEW-752DRU as an access point and not a router does not limit client connections to a single user. Connecting the TEW-752DRU to an existing network via a LAN port with the DHCP server disabled will allow any wireless client connecting to it to be serviced by that network. Assigning the TEW-752DRU a valid IP address within the existing network will also allow access to the web based configuration page and configuration. You are not locked out of the router and it would not require a reset to factory reset to reconfigure it. If you need assistance using the router in this fashion please email Adrian@trendndet.com and we will have someone assist you as soon as possible. Please include a link to this review.

Adrian

1 out of 5 eggsCan't recommend

Pros: Features and price are good IF the product worked.

Cons: Can't recommend this router...

First one died after 1 week and RMA'ed back to Newegg.

Second one, both WIFI and LAN got slower and slower until it became useless after about two weeks. Plugged in my old router at various times and all was fine.

This one is going in the trash so I can't recommend this router.

Trendnet, please don't write some pitiful response about contacting your customer support or flashing the firmware that would be more insulting than your product.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We are sorry that had an issue with the TEW-752DRU. To rule out a hardware issue we can RMA it and have a unit tested in our media lab for an extended period of time to ensure the unit is in working order. If you would like warranty services on the unit please email Adrian@trendnet.com and we will have someone assist you as soon as possible. Please provide a link to this review.

1 out of 5 eggsBad luck?

Pros: When it worked it worked decently about what you would expect out of any router.

Cons: When i bought it, was working okay with a few reconnecting problems. The big problems didnt start until about 40 days into product usage. Would randomly have problems staying connected Router-Modem connection. Tested with old router to verify it wasnt a modem problem.
Product doesnt seem to be worth the buy even with a very low price. Buyer beware i guess.

Other Thoughts: Everything else asides from the random disconnects worked well. It just got to be a problem playing games and getting disconnected.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Levi,

We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the TEW-752DRU. Please update the router with the latest firmware update found on our website. Please ensure you perform a factory reset after the firmware update to finalize the process. Reconfigure the router and see if that helps. If you continue to run into issues please email Adrian@trendnet.com and we will have someone assist you as soon as possible. Please include your contact information and a link to this review.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent router at a good price

Pros: Works pretty well as far as i can see no complaints but nothing special, but for a very cheap price

Cons: Not sure if it is the router or my internet but about 2 times a week it will disconnect.

1 out of 5 eggsI've bought several

Pros: I've bought a few for my customers that lasted long enough.

Cons: Two died. I sent one back for warranty replacement/repair after properly getting an RMA approved by them, and they sent me back the same dead device with no comment. I didn't even bother sending back the second dead one after that experience. I won't buy Trendnet routers again.

Other Thoughts: Spend more money and buy something that will outlast the warranty, because they won't replace or repair it even if it's within the warranty. They just send you the same broken junk back.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsTEW-752DRU

Pros: Much faster than my old Dlink. Easy setup. Good price for what it does.

Cons: 5Ghz not working at all. Work the first day than the signal was non existent or one bar at best. Newest Firmware was installed but still nothing.

Other Thoughts: Can't give a broken item more than one Egg for the rating.

3 out of 5 eggs5Ghz not working

Pros: Fairly simple to set up, Better coverage than my ancient Belkin! Gig Wired works flawlessly!

Cons: As others have mentioned the 5Ghz band isn't working, but I really wanted to switch out the router since my Belkin needed rebooting daily after 9 years of pretty good service.

Other Thoughts: Life got in the way of setting this up within the 30 days of ordering. I did try the firmware update, but no go.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: I bought two of these at the same time for different locations. They work great. One is in a house and does well with games. The other is for a church functioning as just a router since they have wifi, 200 plus devices during peek usage. Both worked. I like the newer GUI, I have used trendnet for years and will continue doing so.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: USB on the back, oh yeaaaah

2 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with RDP

Pros: Port Forwarding works on FTP ports. Wired and wireless connections works well. This wireless router is upstairs in the back of the house. I can connect to the wireless broadcast from the front of my house while sitting in the driveway.

Cons: I can Cisco VPN any-connect to my work PC but this router will not allow Remote Desktop to connect. Essentially, I have to take my Ethernet cable, unplug it from the Trendnet Router and plug it directly into my Modem. Then I can Cicso connect and RDP into my work PC. This action prevents any other PC or wireless device from connecting to the internet while I'm working from home.

I changed my home PC to have a static IP and DMZ'd it. No luck.

Tried port forwarding. No luck.

Upgraded the firmware. No luck.

Contacted Trendnet support and while the front line support responded quickly, they were not able to remedy the problem. They had to contact their technical support which have failed to rectify the problem as well as give me any kind of feedback.

1 month of waiting. No luck.

Other Thoughts: Would like some direction from Trendnet as to RMA this router or give me some kind of resolution.

BTW, my older Buffalo router still works but it has slower wifi and LAN speed so I'd rather get Trendnet working.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We are sorry to hear that you had this issue. Port forwarding shouldn’t be an issue. The VPN connection was initiated from the LAN. The only thing that should be different from the Buffalo router to this router is possibly the default IP address. The TEW-752DRU is 192.168.10.1 which may be in use at your work location and causing the issue. Try changing the LAN address of the of the TEW-752DRU to the same IP address that your Buffalo is using, typically this is 192.168.1.1. If you continue to experience this issue please email Adrian@trendnet.com and we will have someone help you as soon as possible. Please include your contact information and a link to this review.
