3 out of 5 eggsGood, but not good enough

Pros: High speed! I am able to stream 1080p videos through my house without any disruption. It also has multiple RJ45 ports for network managing.

Cons: It refuses to allow my Xbox 360, Laptop, Tablet, Cellphone, and printer to connect via wireless. It only works on my desktop and my psp 1000 (which is such a disgrace to modern technology)

Other Thoughts: If you feel its necessary to purchase a router this expensive to supply internet to a desktop that might be compatible, or a psp from 2005 who am i to stop you? It works.... I guess.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprised

Pros: As a Network engineer, I knew buying something cheap cause me problems later on. However, This is one remarkable little router. It's very compact and sleek, but the range is pretty impressive. I love that it runs DD-WRT.

I have 6 computers, 3 Roku's, 1 Apple TV, a PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii and I have NEVER experienced problems with the connections or signals.

Excellent, especially for the price

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Take advantage of the $24 special

2 out of 5 eggsMediocre Router

Pros: Wireless works seamlessly with my wireless devices. Those devices included an ipod touch and a PS3. The speed for those devices were great.

Cons: This router didn't work so well with my computer which had the slowest connection. The connection speeds were much slower than the g router that I had before.

Other Thoughts: I would not get any of the buffalo routers because their routers do not operate as advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat router but may take a bit of knowledge to set up

Pros: Cost refurbished was $16
Small footprint, about the size of a 5x7 picture
Solid reliability once configured correctly

Cons: Setup wizard couldn't figure out my connections.

Other Thoughts: I buy cheap routers (usually refurbished) and configure them for a hobby.

I have Charter cable internet, so DHCP not DSL (PPPoE) configuration. The router initially booted up and found the wired adapter in my notebook and the UI came up no problem. But the internet connection wizard could not locate the IP address from the DHCP server. After a few hours of trying to figure out what was wrong, I looked on the Internet/LAN page of the UI and clicked on the radio button for "Acquire an IP Address Automatically from a DHCP Server" and then boom! 5 seconds later it was up and running.

So, if you get this router and have trouble getting the IP address accepted and registered, hope this helps.

We have over 17 devices connected to it, only 3 of them wired, so the wireless is heavily used. The router is centrally located in an 1800 sq. ft. house and the coverage is great.

I'm getting 300mbps on my wireless client when in the same room but of course it drops when in other rooms

2 out of 5 eggsNot a Wireless Access Point/Bridge

Pros: Great little device for a simple wireless router.

Cons: I thought this device would be a wireless access point/bridge. But the device must be wired to a another router for any internet connection. Buyer beware.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Low cost, 802.11n, 300mpbs, DD-WRT, small

Cons: Drops wireless frequently due to a design flaw. I tried numerous config changes and potential solutions per the web and the Buffalo tech support forums, but in the end this router is being returned because it is unstable to the point of being unusable.

Other Thoughts: I have another Buffalo 802.11b/g router (WHR-G125) on which I installed DD-WRT and have been very happy with it for a few years. I bought this router to upgrade to 802.11n and figured I'd go with a router already loaded with stock DD-WRT. But it looks like the atheros chipset at the heart of this router simply isn't ready for prime time. There are lots of reports of WiFi dropout on this device, and the DD-WRT wiki mentions this problem.

DD-WRT is very powerful, and I like seeing it preloaded. Hopefully Buffalo can get their act together with a more stable DD-WRT unit.

1 out of 5 eggsDIED SLOWLY after two weeks of use

Pros: When it worked, signal was good and connection good.

Cons: After about two weeks of use, this router (WHR-HP-G300N) died, and did it very slowly, so it kinda works and you can get on the web. But trying to install magic-jack keeps failing, while internet was seemingly working. Spend a good many hours troubleshooting the system install, and it turns out to be the router. Put back my old router (Buffalo WHR-G54S) and was able to get online again. Very bad experience with the hours spend on troubleshooting.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid with DD-WRT

Pros: I flashed this immediately with dd-wrt and never tried the stock firmware. Having said that it is very solid in my application which is just a wireless access point in my home. I stream NetFlix wirelessly to an LG BlueRay player without hiccup.

I've had it a year but doesn't get hot at all so I expect it to last a lot longer.

Cons: None at this price point.
