1 out of 5 eggsWAN Port Died Twice!

Pros: None considering I have had TWO of these units die within 2 months of use.

Cons: I have purchased 2 of these units within the last 8 months. The first from [insert local electronics store name here] electronics. Lost my receipt and was unable to RMA the unit. Bought a replacement from Newegg.com less than 60 days ago and the WAN port crapped out again! (WAN port died on BOTH units)

Other Thoughts: The key features that lured me were gigabit ports and WRT firmware but those mean nothing if these units REPEATEDLY fail after little use.

Someone call me the WANbulance!!! hahaaahaa

5 out of 5 eggsGreat router

Pros: Great execution at v1.93 user friendly version.

Cons: comes with complicated DD-WRT

Other Thoughts: This is a rock solid router as base station of anyone's home LAN. I am Full-Duplex out to my ISP with this router set as Master. I am getting 15 to 10 ms pings to my devices.

This is a great model, i favor buffalo's firmware features, but use the user friendly firmware version....less stuff to break.

5 out of 5 eggsBest router I've owned yet

Pros: Stable, fast.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I buy and test routers for fun. I've had every name brand you can imagine and this little router by far has been the most stable and fastest of them all. And at 1/3 the price of the more expensive ones. I use the Buffalo DD-WRT v24SP2-MULTI (07/09/12) std firmware out of the box. I have a Cisco EA6500 which is an ac speed and it's not as fast as this one. I can't tell you enough how great of an experience I've had with this router. I use it for my MacBook Pro, XBOX 360, XBOX One, PS3, iPhone 5, iPad2, iPad Mini, Kindle, Samsung WiFi printer and PC Desktop. No burps, hiccups, nothing. All the other routers I've tested have had some issue with one or more devices. My DLink 865L makes my XBOX 360 freeze up. WiFi security is WPA2-AES and I have Charter High Speed Internet. I've used Zoom, Motorola and UBEE modems, all with success. I hope those purchasing this router have the same great experience that I have.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT DDWRT COMPATIBLE

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: NOT DDWRT Compatible. Difficult to set up. Firmware issues. Does not appear to support features like Bridge Repeater function. Purchased because i thought it was DDWRT Installed and Compatible. It might be. But its a pain. Firmware that the unit comes with doesnt have Bridge and Bridge Repeater mode - instead it has something called WDS which looks like some proprietary mode for using multiple Bufallo routers. SO NO GO. The hardware rejects the official DDWRT that they have listed for this model. WHen you install the latest firmware from the website (Buffalo 'Friendly' firmware) - it looks like a really lite low end firmware with none of the advanced features. There are also numerous problems everytime i try to reinstall the firmware. There is no connection if you use a cable. Contacted support and i have not heard from them.

Other Thoughts: STAY AWAY FROM THIS (AND POSSIBLY ALL BUFFALO ROUTERS) if you are expecting DDWRT compatibility. In my opinion ITS NOT COMPATIBLE. And it appears that they try to block the installation of any non Buffalo firmware.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Router

Pros: So reliable anytime that my internet goes down I don't bother resetting my router, I know that it is just my service provider "upgrading in my area"... Very intuitive settings, simple to operate security settings. Great range covers my townhouse, and both of my neighbors.

Cons: literally none.

2 out of 5 eggsNice Router When it Actually Works

Pros: Router works pretty much flawlessly for almost 2 months.

Cons: The wireless on this router keeps dropping out at random times. You're online and suddenly wireless connection is gone. You wait a while it comes back. Rebooting the router doesn't help. Actually I couldn't even get into the config page anymore and had to reset to factory condition to be able to get back into the router. So I set it up from scratch and it happened again, totally locked up, no wireless, not even a wired connection. Had to take it offline and put back my trusty 3 year old wrt-54G back online.

Other Thoughts: This is my first experience with buffalo products. I generally stick with name brand products and pay the premium. I tried a cheap name brand and got what I deserved. Lesson learned. I only wish I hadn't thrown the box away so I could return this product.

5 out of 5 eggsReplaced my G routers

Pros: * Excellent Range (with 40Mhz radio-bandwidth)
* DD-WRT out of the Box (a Linux-based firmware).
* Double the radio-bandwidth of my old router!
* Improved signals, and 802.11n ultimately increased speeds on my wireless devices' internet browsing/services.

Cons: * Non-Detachable Antennae - can't use custom, high-gain, or exterior antennae.
* 40Mhz radio-bandwidth wasn't default setting.

Other Thoughts: I replaced my 8-10 year old, DD-WRT modified WRT54G's with one of these, and all I can say is: WOW! What an improvement!
I've got quite a noisey wifi in my area, and I'm getting solid 150MBps linkup throughout my home. Considering my Internet caps out at 20MBps, I'm golden, for now.
I'm very satisfied with this purchase, and will consider buying BUFFALO in the future!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for Buck DDWRT/Tomato Solution

Pros: Excellent, price! Great Design! Easy Mounting! Fantastic Range! Superb features. The stock firmware is great, NAS setup couldn't be easier. Just pop in a USB drive, enable Samba, and set parameters, and you're done! If you don't need anything faster than 300mbps (rated) 802.11n, than this is by far the best solution. Buffalo makes very solid and reliable products at excellent prices, and this one is no exception. This one is a keeper!

Cons: Buffalo products are not found in stores :(

Other Thoughts: FWIW, this router is wall mounted inside a pantry closet and still produces enough range to cover my house and neighbors house (who I share wifi with) without having to boost power to the antennas.
