5 out of 5 eggsKick - *** Router

Pros: Easy setup, extremely reliable, great range, DD-WRT user interface refreshes quickly and is easy to navigate. Lotta bang for the buck. Zero complaints.

Cons: Nothing
Nada
Zilch
Bupkess

Other Thoughts: This baby has been running 24/7 for nearly 2 years with no problem. I have a fairly large 2-story house, the WZR-600DHP is on the bottom floor. It can reach my laptop & Android phone anywhere in the house and at least 50 ft from the house.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't last long

Pros: Easy installation. There are 3 sets of instructions with pictures.
I would still get a good wireless signal (4/5 bars) 35 feet away with walls in the way.

Cons: Would need to reset the router about 2-3 times a year.
Wireless only worked for 2 years.

Other Thoughts: This router's wireless broke down on me after 2 years so I don't recommend it.

2 out of 5 eggsshort life

Pros: set up was fine.

Cons: died a slow death after 2 years, with a gradual loss of connection speed, which plunged to 1mbps. Then would not recognize the cable modem anymore, regardless of resets all around. Didn't realize how much download speed performance it was leaking until connecting my cable modem directly to a computer, and immediately gained an extra 20mbps in speedtests compared to when the router was working "normally".

Other Thoughts: don't buy it.

2 out of 5 eggsWireless signal is horrible

Pros: Simple to use and you have your choice of Buffalo DD-WRT or Community DD-WRT. Does support 3.0 community builds.

Cons: Lacks support for VLANS. The wireless range is horrible (2.4 and 5G). The only way I can get a good wireless signal is if I am standing next to it. If I move to the room next door (one wall) it drops dramatically. I wish I realized how bad it was within the one month period where I could return it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Fast, easy to set up and use for securing the network, large signal range. I've had this router since 2013, and it keeps chugging along with minimal maintenance.

Cons: Apparently some trouble connecting with Apple products. My friend had some issues while he was visiting, but most cell phones, tablets, and laptops have no issues.

1 out of 5 eggs6 months then trash

Pros: none

Cons: setup is a nightmare, keeping everything in the house connected required constant maintenance, solid products such as i phone could not detect it most of the time.

Other Thoughts: Got tired of it and threw it in the trash.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally, a reliable fast router.

Pros: Stable. Flexible. Fast. I like the fact that dd-wrt is installed by default, and that for those who don't want to deal with complexity, the standard firmware is also included. The connection statistics are much nicer than I'm used to - I can see each connection's signal quality and up/down speeds in real time!

Cons: With power and flexibility comes complexity. I think I'm entitled to 'somewhat high' - I've made my own routers from dual-NIC pcs and configured those, but I still needed the auto setup to get this running properly. Other than that, I'm very happy with this router.

Other Thoughts: I had to upgrade my old Linksys router, because my ISP's speeds finally exceeded its capabilities. I had ignored that router for >years<. After a couple of <unacceptable> routers, this Buffalo router finally looks like the one I will be able to ignore for years to come. Note that firmware should be upgraded, I mean I don't want to reboot my router every time I want to stream a movie from Netflix, which is what my previous <unacceptable> routers forced me to do. I waited almost a month before writing this, just to see if things deteriorated. Not yet...

4 out of 5 eggsGood solid wifi router

Pros: Buffalo's custom DD-WRT UI is a little simpler than the last community version I used. It was easy to set up and configure and has been very stable. I have used one in my home network for more than a year, and last year I also set up two of them in a client's office to provide wifi coverage from the existing wired network, and all have been very stable. These have good range and power and perform very well for the price.

Cons: The base stand doesn't attach very well.

Other Thoughts: When I switched ISPs at home, the new provider installed a wifi-enabled DSL modem. I used it for about 2 days before I turned off the modem's wifi and hooked up my trusty Buffalo N600 again. The N600 is one of the only wifi routers I have used that can handle streaming video from my computer to AppleTV with both devices on wifi with no stuttering.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Purchased this router to replace an older slower one that did not have the speed to keep up with Apple TV. The old one was causing a lot of lag and stuttering in the videos and this one corrected all that.

Cons: Setup would be a little difficult for the beginner.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product to anyone needing to play videos over a wireless connection.
