5 out of 5 eggsBetter than I hoped

Pros: Went from using a Rosewill RNX-N300 Wireless N Adapter w/Rosewill RNX-A5-EX configuration, getting Sig Str 70-82%, Link Qual 85-98%, to 100% both Sig Str & Link Qual, upon loading the drivers and connecting the adapter to an open USB 2.0 port on my rig ~40' from the wireless-N router. Much better than I hoped!

Cons: I waited so long to get this

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done.

Pros: i ordered this to use on a laptop with no net card, now i dont even need one. this thing beats out almost any net card easily in my opinion. it pulls from farther range at faster continuous speed.

Cons: only cons are:
1: the cord can be a little loose where it connects at the base and lose connectivity if u move it around
2: the satelite dish doesnt lock into its flipped up position can be nudged down or by moving it on accident.

Other Thoughts: all and all this thing is a win for what i paid for it (not full price).

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing product

Pros: This thing has been going strong for years in a semi outdoor environment . The signal strength is great and the price is amazing , I purchased it many years ago when it cost $80 and it was worth it then . Finding it now on New Egg for this great price means I will buy another , possibly two . It has never given me any problems and I'm running it through 6 ,6 foot daisy chained usb extenders (FAR from ideal) and this thing works day in and day out pulling signal from more than 2 (rural) blocks away with no problems . Just buy it and ignore the people giving it bad reviews . Ive had many different types of adapters and this is far and above the rest .

Cons: Didn't come with a pony . There is nothing negative about this product .

5 out of 5 eggsworks very well

Pros: works nicely in windows 7 ultimate 64bit, but you have to install the driver utility from the included cd.i recieve public wifi very well, some connections are 5 bars, which i never had before..the dish is cute, looks like a little satilite dish.i like this one better then my other hawking because it doesnt have a magnetic base,so i can set it on my desktop..im very happy with it

Cons: doesnt seem to be compatible with usb extention cables

Other Thoughts: hawking make great wifi signal boosters as i own 2 now.they average in price between $50 to $60 but they work great

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: this product does exactly what it says it will it boosts the range by about three fold.

its pretty weatherproof i had it in my open window and it rained and the product still worked just as well after.

Cons: the boosted range is directional only. yes i understand that its a directional satellite but it should be able to pick up a signal that is behind it.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic - Giddy

Pros: Absolutely fantastic. I have windows 7 and as such have been purchasing and reconfiguring wireless pci-express adapters for the last year and the best one I've had the patience to use is a Trend-net. Drivers have to be manually installed but otherwise it worked... until the card shut down and you have to use the troubleshooting tool to reset the adapter. This occurs whenever you download large amounts of information, and that is just dumb. (Mind you, I've tried all the fixes online, tried all the applicable drivers, tried all the configurations, tried passwords, and no passwords, I have a huge 10nDBI antenna alongside anohter 7nDBI antenna mounted to a corded base so I can position these bad boys anywhere... same result.) This device, set it up correctly, point in the general direction of your 802.11n router, BOOM, done, absolute stable connection, 100% of the time.

Cons: Umm.. I don't know about everyone else but I got mine from a local computer store, seemed like brand new packaging, but the mast was floppy... as in I had to prop it up in the back so that it wouldn't fall back down. That's just annoying, but if that's what it takes to have an awesome connection, so be it, I'm all in.

Other Thoughts: Again, I can't say this enough, this device WORKS. It's not a gimmic, something I was intensely afraid of. No need to stuff up your pci slots better used for audio or a raid controller. No need to worry about worthless drivers and searching the internet for days. I literally dread reformating windows for the simple fact that I never know if my wireless cards will work properly. This thing makes it nearly plug and play simple. Oh, and don't be a fool, plug it into a USB 2.0 port... otherwise you're just hampering the awesomeness.

4 out of 5 eggsYour Mileage May Vary!

Pros: Noticeable improvements--point it in the right direction, and you'll very likely get extended range results in comparison to a standard omnidirectional WiFi adapter (usually 1-2 bar improvement). That's been fairly consistent for me through various locations--inside, outside, through a layer or two of concrete, upstairs, downstairs, etc.

Cons: Extremely hit-and-miss. You may get a better signal, but personally, I'm finding little-to-no improvement in transfer speeds. A full 54 Mbps signal (G) or 108 (N) results in only about 2-3% of it being utilized. Not sure if it's a driver issue or if it's a similar latency phenomenon that plagues, say, satellite Internet service...

Other Thoughts: Let me stress this: Your Mileage May Vary! Check out what you have between your PC/laptop and the access point before purchasing. Are you trying to aim it through over 9000 layers of concrete? Is the access point a mile away? If so, don't bother! If you can barely get the signal through an onboard adapter (like 1 bar if you're lucky), then you're likely to get three bars with this product aimed in the right direction. For the most part, it's a gamble. Just make sure you can return the thing to the store if it doesn't work for you. If it does work, then it's definitely worth every penny! Hence the 4 egg review.

1 out of 5 eggsIllusion

Pros: Regular wireless adapter

Cons: False advertisement

Other Thoughts: I bought this adapter due to its claim to increase Wi-Fi signal strength up to 500%. I received it today and after two hours of testing can confirm that there is nothing special about it. Its signal strength is 10-20% weaker than high-end wireless adapters on the market. Ironically, the wireless card built into my SONY laptop performs better than this cheaply made dish. I just want to notify everyone, so you do not get fooled. There are many people with cheap adapters and low-end laptops from brands, such as Dell, Gateway... When you get this dish adapter it makes you think it really increases the signal strength. In reality you can get a USB adapter with same sensitivity (or better) at at least 50% cheaper. I already packed this dish and returning it back.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great on 64bit OS

Pros: this thing rocks hands down, I can pick up several connections around my neighborhood with ease, I have seen speeds of over 15Mbps down and 5Mbps up connection to a wireless thats about 300 feet away or more (neighbors house across the street 1 house down) and for everyone saying it doesn't support 64bit OSes .... I have been running windows 7 since it came out with no issues at all and have owned this adapter for well over a year. oh, and it holds up to florida weather pretty well outside as well

Cons: other than the limit in length of the cords I have no cons

Other Thoughts: for the price this is a great ant. if you have a problem getting it to work on your OS, Google is your friend. it will work on anything that I have used so far (linux,XP,vista,98 lol yes 98, win2000 and win7) both 32 and 64 bits

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible - really

Pros: There is no better usb antenna for improving wireless connectivity (in my humble opinion). Incredibe gain of signal strength in both directions. Compact design.

Cons: Sturdy, but not a "packable" design. While the antenna folds into a fairly compact package - the way it folds leaves the antenna mast sticking up. The resulting folded configuarion is a bit vulnerable to damage of the mast. It would be better if the mast folded down into a protective housing.

Other Thoughts: I travel a bit and like to play online games in my spare time. Often the network strength in hotel rooms is very weak. These weak signals can accomodate network connections, but they are generally of such poor quality that they cannot sustain the level of throughput required by gaming servers. The result is many disconnections from those servers. The hwdn2 does a fantastic job of not only collecting more radio energy from the access point, but it also does a better job of focus your outgoing signal. I have been able to take a 4% signal with 25% quality (high error rate) and turn it into a 40% signal with 95% quality -- more than enough for serious connections.
