5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works very well. My work has one router for over one hundred people. I used to have problems connecting and speed issues and this device is a big improvement.
It comes with an optional extension cable that is reasonably long alowing you to place it farther away from your laptop.

Cons: It is top heavy so it has a tendency to fall over if the cable is pulled slightly. It needs an optional large suction cup for stability.

Other Thoughts: Although the instructions don't say this, I would recommend you disbale your internal WIFI while using this exernal device. The reason is that your laptop will connect with both the internal and the Hawking at the same time and it is not possible to know which one you are using. You may be using the slower internal instead of the faster external without realizing it, which means your bandwith can drop or slow down unexpectedly. Use only one and disable the other to prevent problems.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as it should

Pros: I got this for one of my customers that lives in an RV and moves around a lot. He has since reported back to me that he gets strong signals at RV parks and campgrounds he visits where he was never able to get service before.

Cons: None reported so far

5 out of 5 eggspleasantly surprised

Pros: I used this adapter at an RV park to connect to Roadrunner's free wifi access points. I was able to get a reliable 72 Mbps connection to an access point over 700 feet away, though trees and other RVs. This speed was more than adequate for my needs; I only need to use Outlook, log on to my VPN, and use remote desktop. Of course it probably helped that TWC placed the access point high in the air, on the utility poles. I am glad I purchased this item before I departed on my trip.

The included utility does a good job of providing diagnostic information.

Works with Inssider.

Cons: The suction cup on the bottom was a great idea in theory, but I practice the who assembly would pivot once the suction cup was attached to the window. Maybe I'll try fixing this by acquiring more suction cups and attaching them through the existing mounting holes in the base.

Other Thoughts: Before departing on your trip, check to see if your ISP offers free wifi access points in the area you'll be visiting. As of the date of this review, Time Warner Roadrunner has access points in some cities; Comcast offers access to these same access points through a "partnership" arrangement. AT&T also has access points in various places

5 out of 5 eggsBetter Reception

Pros: Better reception than a linksys wusb600n. See a ton more networks.

Cons: No dual band support, bigger than a regular usb dongle.

Other Thoughts: Using Win7 64bit - so using the cd to install driver was sort of weird - gotten very used to windows finding them for me

5 out of 5 eggsImproved my signal!!!

Pros: Easy to set up, less than 5 minutes on my Windows 7 laptop.
Increased my wireless signal from 1 bar to 5 bars
Solid performance, have had no problems since I've installed it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this product because I was having issues with the internet my apartment complex was providing. My regular wireless adapter would usually only get 1 bar, if that. After installing this, my signal strength jumped up to 5 bars and I can pick up a bunch of other wireless networks in the area. I am extremely satisfied.

4 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: Reception is great and data transfer is better than expected.

Cons: Not omnidirectional

Manufacturer Response:

Thank You for the feedback. An omni-directional antenna disperses the wireless signal in multiple directions, which is great for an access point. However, for an adapter, it's best to have a directional antenna where signal is directed toward the wireless source to give you the optimal range. Hope this helps.
