1 out of 5 eggsdon't get your hopes up

Pros: none that I can think of. it possibly might expand range in a room with no partitions, which admittedly is what was advertised.

Cons: It did nothing to improve range in my home, which is a typical older home with walled off rooms.

1 out of 5 eggsNothing to get excited about

Pros: Looks impressive

Cons: Can't see any improvement over 5db omni range antenna.

Other Thoughts: I would like to know how they rate these things. I am not an expert, but I can tell you there is nothing great about this antenna.

1 out of 5 eggsStress cracks right out of the box

Pros: None.

Cons: Never got to use it. The plastic end had stress cracks out of the box. This is/was a design problem. Contacted Hawking support with details and photos and explained what causes the cracking based on my 30 years as a product engineer. Their answer.... I have to pay to get it replaced. NOT! Sadly Newegg got stuck with the cost as I RMA'ed for refund.

Other Thoughts: Previous to this I always thought Hawking stood for quality.

5 out of 5 eggsDoing its job!

Pros: Can't complain about the price. Cable is longer than many I've seen and it is flexible enough for me. No issues where it connects to the bottom of the case.
I am using the HAI15SC with a dd-wrt flashed Buffalo WHR G54S configured in repeater mode. 125mw TX output through this antenna blasts my signal to a neighbor through some trees close to 600' away .

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've got this antenna beaming a signal North out of an upstairs window my house. I also have the Hawking HA12W in another window beaming my wifi South from another Buffalo repeater. The HA12W's bracket is average at best and the clear plastic suckers supplied with it literally SUCK!! I'm using this HAI15SC "corner" with two better quality suckers equipped with metal hooks and a heavy duty rubber band securing it in my window at the proper angle. All things being equal... for my thuddynine clams, I'd say buy the "corner" HAI15SC and a couple good suckers at your local hardware store and pass on the other Hawking antenna specifically designed for window use.

2 out of 5 eggsnothing special

Pros: fast shipping

Cons: Tried this antenna on many scenarios, my 7dbi omni-directional antenna beat this "15dbi" directional antenna.

Other Thoughts: Would ask for a refund by including all the fee's and shipping I'll only get back so little if I were to buy another omni antenna off here

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money

Pros: Shipping was fast. Ordered early Monday morning and got it on Wednesday afternoon.

Cons: I tried this antenna on a computer with a PCI-N wireless adapter that had a D-Link ANT24-0700 7dbi omni-directional antenna. I only noticed an increase of 8% on the signal from 30%-38% From a very low signal to a stable Low or even Good sometimes. It also increased it from 18Mbps to a stable 36Mpbs.

------------------------
This time I tried it on a Rosewill RNX-G1W Wireless USB B/G adapter on another computer/location. I was using a Airlink MIMO USB adapter from 5 years ago. I was getting a 1Mbps-11Mpbs, 1 bar, and very low connection on regular days. Sometimes I would get 12Mpbs and Low connection if I'm lucky enough. When I switched my setup for with the Rosewill RNX-G1W and a D-Link ANT24-0700 7dbi omni-directional antenna I got 60% signal, 85% link quality, and a stable 48Mbps along with a stable 4-bar.

Continued below.

Other Thoughts: Now it was time to switch out the D-Link 7dbi omni-directional antenna with this Hawking 15dbi Directional antenna w/ the Rosewill RNX-G1W USB wireless B/G adapter. To my surprise the data from this antenna and the D-Link omni-directional antenna seemed very similar. I got a ~70% signal connection, 4 stable bars (Very Good), 85% link quality. You have to make sure you're pointing this thing in the right direction.

----------------------

Was this antenna worth it? I have to say no. I basically got a difference of 10% signal with the D-Link omni-directional antenna that is 7dbi compared to this "15dbi" Hawking antenna. Besides, the D-Link antenna is $17 dollars after the Mail In Rebate while this piece of junk is ~$60 including shipping. Whats up with that? I'm reading all these reviews ppl saying they're buying it under $50 while I'm being over charged. Overall, I'm not happy with this Hawking product, it's not up to it's "15dbi" title. The Dlink omni antenna is $40 cheaper w/ $0

3 out of 5 eggsVery little increase over 6dBi

Pros: Long enough cable to try different locations, unobtrusive design, and adapter included to fit all router antennas.

Cons: Only increased signal in direct lines of sight not through walls, but did boost signal from 30% to 70% in direct lines of sight.

Other Thoughts: Replaced with a Hawking HSB2 signal booster for a few dollars more which increased signals from 30% to 80% or more in all areas without a need for mounting in a direct line of sight.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as Intended

Pros: Small, lightweight, long cable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This device is great. I was skeptical at first because I was trying to get a signal through five walls and a mirror. Basically, from one end of my house to the other end. My router is a DGL-4500 and I connected the antenna to the middle antenna port out of three. Previously the Asus laptop was getting 18% of 1 Mb/s and now it is getting 56% of 36 Mb/s. It is not 54 Mb/s but it did stabilize my connection and that is the most important part. At times it does max out at 54 Mb/s but not 100% of the time. Hope this review helps.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked as Intended

Pros: Small, lightweight, long cable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have a D-Link DGL-4500 with all my computer equipment generally close to the wireless router on one end of the house. Then, a Asus (can not remember model) laptop on the opposite end of the house. The Asus laptop was getting 18% of 1Mb/s which was totally unstable. When I installed this hi-gain antenna, the wireless strength went up to 56% at 36Mb/s. So the gain was not full strength but it did increase the signal significantly. I say this because it is going through 5 - 6 walls and a mirror! So that type of gain is excellent. I would recommend this product.

2 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: I bought this from Newegg well over a year ago to connect to my apartment 'free' wi-fi, and it worked. I was getting a weak signal with the 'rubber ducky' antenna that came with my wi-fi card. This antenna gave me solid '5-bar' signals, line of sight of 100 feet.

Cons: Expensive, and is really nothing more than a 'rubber ducky' antenna with a piece of metal for a reflector?

Other Thoughts: IF you are already getting a signal, this might help. At 2.4ghz frequencies, you need to see the other antenna to get a good signal... Walls often block signals, especially if there is metal (like foil-backed insulation) in them? Glass will usually not block, unless low-E coated?
