1 out of 5 eggsBad

Pros: None - it never worked

Cons: Crashed every mobo I tried it with. 2 Asus and 1 Biostar - bummer! Would never let machine start completely. Even tried installing drivers before installing the card. No soap!

3 out of 5 eggsseems reliable and it is fast, but not as fast as it should be, Purchased on 11/02/2012

Pros: It has never dropped a connection, never has issue with packet loss
at least 5 times faster than a 10/100 nic
supports wake-on-lan
comes with a heat sync
has 4 led indicators
does not interfere with my GPUs air intake like a PCIe card would (motherboards fault)
guess this card will be fine until i upgrade from my phenom II 965 and get a new motherboard, probably be a couple years till then unless i experience some hardware failure

Cons: not getting gigabit speeds (tried several quality cat5e cables and a cat6 cable)
there is no blue led, there are 2 yellow leds, you have to read the labeling intended on the bracket to know what each yellow led is

Other Thoughts: I recently got a gigabyte router, i upgraded from my trusty wtr54gl so i figured i would see how well the gigabit lan was working, i was thinking my router was slow and there was a firmware bug, turned out to be this card
i ran some benchmarks using iperf under linux and windows
i have also ran test using a crossover cable, results confirm this card is the weakest link in my hardwired network
Windows 7 can receive 734Mbps
Windows 7 can send 601Mbps
Linux can receive 607Mbps
Linux can send 520Mpbs
* Linux kernel version 3.12 and 3.13

ram to ram file transfers are only 61.5MB/s under linux (sending data over http using wget)
i swore i used to be able to send 80MB/s using this card, maybe it is not made to last

5 out of 5 eggsWorks flawlessly

Pros: Works as advertised. No issues to report. Fixed onboard issues.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card hoping to fix an ongoing issue with the onboard LAN on one of my motherboards. The connection would drop at random times and with no warning. Windows was completely obvious to the disconnect, and only caused streaming video to hickup, however hosting or playing any kind of LAN/Internet game was out of the question. After trying everything I could think of, cable replacement, changing settings, new driver, booting other OS's, I contacted a network engineer about the issue. He concluded that there was a hardware fault in the mobo's adapter and recommended purchasing a network card.
I've used a few Rosewill products before without issue so I decided on this card. I am pleased to report since installing this card we have had no issues at all, the random disconnects have stopped, and we are back to hosting LAN parties and playing MMO's.
Thanks Rosewill!

2 out of 5 eggsdropped connections

Pros: Cheap. Gigabit (kind of).

Cons: A lot of dropped packets. File transfers take a while and sometimes get corrupted. Streaming video fails sometimes and requires a restart.

Other Thoughts: PCI doesn't really support Gigabit, although this card pushes the limits. I used this on a FreeNAS server and found that some files were getting corrupted after I transferred it to the server. Also, videos would stop and buffer when reading from this server. Sometimes the system would just hang for a long time and not accept any new connections. I set a weekly reboot, but still needed to reboot if the server was used heavily for extended periods of time.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bought this because my onboard gave up on me.
Works as advertised installation was a breeze. Drivers installed automatically. Comes with a stick on heat sink and shorter bracket if needed.(I did not need it so I am not sure if that would be a troubling process or not)
-Low profile.

Cons: Box could've been easier to open. I ended up ripping part of it off.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great !

Pros: Installed this card in my ESXi box to get another NIC available since it has a RTL chip. Detected under ESXi 5.1 as Realtek 8169 and works fine.
Great buy for the price.

Cons: The enclosed heat sink is glued to the chip with some tape. Not sure how well it sticks - seems a bit fragile. If there is a chance that the heat sink can fall off and make a short on your motherboard - don't install it.

Other Thoughts: Had to disable autonegotiation on the vmnic to make it talk to my Netgear Gig switch.

5 out of 5 eggsin a pinch

Pros: Easy to install, works well, looks good, fit is great. The hardest part about this install was removing the side cover of the desktop!

Cons: nothing

Other Thoughts: Bought this in a pinch because I updated my old Dell Inspiron 530 to windows7 and the stock ethernet port wasn't reading upon start up. Installed this and it read and began working within seconds! Now I don't have to worry about unplugging and plugging the CAT cable back in upon startup of my computer
