5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Low profile bracket. ESXi 5.1 compatible.

Cons: None found

Other Thoughts: I put this in a HP ProLiant N40L MicroServer. Worked perfectly with ESXi 5.1, no configuration needed. Marvell 88E8053 chipset. No need to spring for an expensive Intel NIC.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what the Dr. Ordered

Pros: Plug-N-Play .Fast. Simple to add to your PC.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just plug and Play Windows 7 drivers do the rest. had it in and running in just a couple of minutes always better to use a card then the integrated plugs anyways.

3 out of 5 eggsWoes with Ethernet card

Pros: Has great features, such as, the chip set, speed and so on.

Cons: I'm am building my PC from scratch. This small inexpensive
piece of hardware has stopped me from going onto the Internet.
The setup disc they sent has the drivers on it including one for my MS 7 premium Home OS system. However the system doesn't load it ! I tried copying it as to isolate it and the system will not accept it. There are no telephone numbers for Rosewell. I got onto the Internet with my old PC to search and there's no help. I'm going to call Microsoft and hopefully they'll
be able to help.

Other Thoughts: Maybe the techs at Newegg can help. I'm going to try and contact them.

1 out of 5 eggsTrash

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I was trying to be cheap and put this in an ESXi build. Too bad this doesn't work for that at all! So I thought to myself "shame on me for not doing my research!" so I loaded it up in windows 7 and guess what? They still do not work! The driver CD that came with the product is confusing as all get out. STAY AWAY! Spend the extra money! You'll be glad you did.

Other Thoughts: I promise myself I will never be this cheap again. I was trying to build a BEAST computer for under $700 bucks and I failed miserably.

2 out of 5 eggsCracks under pressure

Pros: Card worked in 16x slot just fine, and the transfer speeds are great.

Cons: While the speeds are great, the card will stop responding under a sustained load. I run this card in a PF Sense firewall. It started out as my WAN card, after the first couple drops I thought it was a MAC lockout from my ISP so I called them, no lock. I've switched the Rosewill card to my LAN interface to see if it made any difference, and it will still fail during a sustained 20mbit download almost every time if the download lasts for more than 5 minutes. It made no difference if it were coming in to the card as the WAN port or out as the LAN. Syslog shows that the cards connection state begins to flap and a reboot is (so far) the only way I have found to bring it back online. In all, I am not happy with this card and I don't think it's even worth my time dealing with the warranty. I should have listened to the other reviews before buying this card.

Manufacturer Response:

Please kindly contact the Rosewill support team either via phone at 800-575-9885 or via email at rma@rosewill.com so we may assist you with a replacement.
Thanks,
Rosewill Customer Care

3 out of 5 eggsNot last in server

Pros: Worked great at first

Cons: After 2 months Linux server starts freezing up read other thoughts

Other Thoughts: Trying this eathernet card in a lInux server running 24 hours a day 7 days a week with heavy tragic.
Have not had a problem in 4 years with this server untill use this eathernet card. It worked fine for 2 months then out of nowhere the server would star t freezing up even with watchdog.
Took out this eathernet card turned back on the onboard Realtek eathernet and no more issues. Also use intel server eathernet with no issue.
So in the end this eathernet card may work fine it's just not server grade
