1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with Linux Ubuntu 14.4 LTS

Pros: Cheap... sort-of might work with windows, but I'm not using it (see other thoughts).

Cons: Couldn't get this to adapter to work with Linux Ubuntu 14.4 LTS no matter what. Waster hours. Would pair with router but disconnect consistently after 10 seconds... Also had terrible signal quality. Bad signal quality on Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: I tried two other pci-e adapters with similar results in linux (one waited 60 seconds to disconnect instead of 10 like this one) so I assume it is just that the ath9k driver doesn't work with "newer" chipsets, given all the positive experiences reported on the net pre-2010. I gave up an bought a cheap router, installed DD-WRT on it, and set it up as wireless bridge. Save yourself the trouble, given how cheap routers are these days (I'm using two linksys E1200 routers and seeing virtually the same performance whether I connect wirelessly to the main one or to the bridge. They cost about the same as a "good" pci-e adapter and you obviously get a bigger antenna).

3 out of 5 eggsDriver support lacking

Pros: Cheap, includes both regular and low profile brackets.

Cons: Website provided drivers do not play well with 64 bit Win7. Had to use a driver instead by HP using the same atheros chipset.
Signal strength is poor, other devices in same location have stronger signal and much higher throughput.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this product

Pros: None

Cons: I bought this product for a Windows 8 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit PCs. Both drivers are not signed. The Win8 worked for about a month before Win 8 stop recognizing it. As for Windows 7 64-bit, it never installed. This company is promoting a product for platforms that do not work. One wonders if there is a well outline QA process in this company. I will stay away from Rosewill products.

1 out of 5 eggsavoid

Pros: Sleek and small 1x PCIe design
Win7 recognizes without drivers

Cons: constantly loses connection after about 1-2 minutes of having an initial connection.

Other Thoughts: The signal does not drop, in fact it has a decent signal, it just does not allow for any data to be passed unless the device is disabled and re-enable.

The initial connection is getting 0.5Mbps down speeds, any other device that I test next to the PC is getting 30-50Mbps down speeds.

I bought a dual band card TRENDnet TEW-76EC (i know slightly more expensive than this if you're going for budget) but have not had any issues with it and getting the down speeds I expect.

Cons: -dont install the software that come with it, just install the drivers that's it, the software (RX-24) or something like that, will alt-tab your application that run on full-screen and it will always show up on boot even if you selected "do not show this again"

Other Thoughts: -Would be nice if you didn't need the cd for drivers but Eh
