5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: These work really well, easy to set up, they get really good signal. I have computers in a different room than my router.

Cons: no cons , because I have ATT DSL this is as fast as my pcie network adapter. I already have one of these Im buying another to replace another brand.

Other Thoughts: Of the USB network adapters Ive bought, this one works the best. I use these on mining rigs, they give good reliable conetions, unlike the netgear usb adapter im buying this to replace

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It worked sometimes. It probably would have been better were I not in the basement, but do read my 'Cons' section before you judge me.

Cons: Most notable was the installation process. It installs its own interface which is now obsolete and competes with Windows 7's. The company will tell you this if you talk to them, but I didn't see it on their site or in the instructions. In fact, the instructions tell you to install the interface and don't mention it as a potential problem. The person I spoke with from Rosewill was absolutely convinced that the installer would give you the option to install it correctly for Windows 7, but apparently that's because older versions of the software used to do that, not the ones they're using now. You need to install the drivers manually yourself by going into the folders on the disc, finding just the drivers and installing them (think it was one file, not sure). Then it worked but constantly gave a weak or slow connexion and dropped the signal. I'm in the basement so maybe that's part of the trouble, but other wireless devices don't have as much trouble.

Other Thoughts: If you've bought this terrible device and want to know how to install it and haven't read my 'Cons' section, here:
You need to install the drivers manually yourself by going into the folders on the disc, finding just the drivers and installing them (think it was one file, not sure). DO NOT install using the installer on the disc. It installs things that don't work with Windows after XP or Vista (forget which).

3 out of 5 eggsBad first start, more to come...?

Pros: Nice design, software is actually ok, fast when it works.

Cons: Terrible web access when plugged directly into a USB port - now it's in a hub and working ok so far.

Other Thoughts: I was connecting this to a 64 bit Windows 7 computer. I skipped the driver CD and went right for rosewill's website (pretty bad download speed using what I had at the time). Once the driver was done I installed it. It's kind of interesting that Rosewill never even bothered to rebrand the installer - it's just a straight up Realtek installer. After the installation I rebooted as requested, then I connected the adapter to the back of my computer. It was detected by the utility, and my access point showed near 100% signal stength, despite the computer being behind a few layers of drywall and almost 40 feet away from the AP. I connected with WPS anyways, and started my tests. While looking for a LAN speed test, I noticed pages taking awhile to load, even though pings were in the low twenties of milliseconds. It eventually got to the point where pages would never load, no matter what browser I used. File transfers were out of the question since I couldn't even connect to other computers on the network.

I tried a different USB port - same story. Rosewill was distributing the latest version of the driver that Realtek is on their website, so I had nothing to update to. Researching the chipset showed many other people with similar issues, so I yanked it out and went to go RMA it on newegg.

Before packing it up, I went to read the reviews again - I didn't understand how everyone could be having such great success here, while so many others reported issues. I then got a USB hub, reinstalled the driver, and plugged it back in. Same excellent connection strength, but this time a file transfer over SMB exceeded 70Mbps - pretty good, I thought.

Overall, if I were to buy another, I would keep looking. That false start has me pretty scared.

1 out of 5 eggsDrops Connection

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Worked very well for a month or so. Now I get dropped connections at the rate of 10 plus times a day.

Other Thoughts: Although previous Rosewill products have worked well for me and have been good value, this one was a major mistake.

The moral to the story is do not cheap out on mission critical components like your network connection.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected... mostly.

Pros: Good range. Good speed. Reliable connectivity.

Cons: Bulky. Takes up more than one port if your USB ports are close together. The software is garbage.

Other Thoughts: I thought I'd try something that I almost never do. I followed the instructions. Big mistake. After loading the software and drivers as instructed by the installation disk, the program would lock up and not work. I ended up uninstalling everything and just plugged in the adapter and let Windows configure the device. I've had no problems since.
