3 out of 5 eggsRaspberry Pi Sofware AP Arch Linux

Pros: * Excellent power

Cons: On the Raspberry Pi using Arch Linux, the RNX-N250UBE you are required to use the kernel "linux-raspberrypi-latest".
pacman -Sy linux-raspberrypi-latest
However, once it is up an running on the Pi in Software AP mode ( I am using my Pi as a wifi access point) it drops off about every minute. When it is working, the signal is strong and the data transfer rates are okay. However, I have not been able to measure them and compare against my TP-link

Other Thoughts: I purchased the RNX-N250UBE to replace my TP-Link TL-WN722N. The intent was to increase the wifi range to get a better signal into some of the rooms in my house. I am very pleased with the performance of TL-WN722N, I just thought that the additional power provided by the RNX would have bought me some additional range.

I fully expect that when the drivers stabilize for the Realtek 8192 chipset that this will be a fine device.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate - after 1 year

Pros: Bought this in end of 2012 and at that time was the cheapest wireless N. Has good range and antenna picks up APs that are a block away from me. Decent speeds with new driver but no where near the advertised speed - fastest speed on internal network was around 40Mbps.

Cons: Back in 2012 when I used the CD to install the driver, the driver would not work with Windows 7 x64. I manually installed the driver and it worked well but not spectacular. Buggy driver and had problems keeping a good connection even though I was only 20 feet from router. After 3 months, I packed it back up and put it on the shelf. Fast forward to Dec 2013 - new drivers on website so I figured I would give this adapter another try. I installed the drivers and everything worked. Good range and fairly good speed. Well, it lasted about 4 months. I kept getting browser errors and when I ran speedtest, I was getting 3.2Mbps download. I thought I had router problem because my other wireless APs were having issues so I replaced the router with a dual band and bought a new cable modem. Problem got worse - I should have tested the wireless USB adapter first but I wanted a new router and modem anyways. Well tonight, I was getting download speeds of 720k -- on a 30Mbps internet connection. My wireless AP/Repeater in the other room was also acting up and was getting errors in the log. I finally pulled one of my other USB adapters off the shelf, installed and my wireless download speedtest shows 30Mbps + -- not only that, but my wireless AP/Repeater is also back to normal so whatever the problem is with this Rosewill adapter was affecting the other wireless devices as well.

Other Thoughts: I thought this was a good deal and after I got the drivers stable, it worked pretty well. I switched to an Ethernet connection and put this back on the shelf. When I moved my office upstairs, I still had this on the shelf above the desk, so I figured Rosewill would have the driver problem resolved. Everything seem fine after installing the new drivers -- but I would expect this to work more than 6 months. Not only that, but whatever went wrong with this adapter was actually affecting my entire wireless network. After removing the Rosewill adapter from the network, everything is working fine and my wireless AP/Repeater is no longer showing any transmission errors.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: I love it.
I have used it on Windows 8, Xp, Ubuntu, Zorin and it has not missed a beat yet. All Os' loaded and use it fine.
It picks up far and low signals and even cell phone hot spots very well.
It works just fine with or without the USB base.

Cons: Wish it came with a longer USB cable and magnetic base to stick on roof top of car.

Other Thoughts: I have noticed signal is cut in half only using one antenna

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: I could maybe stab an intruder with one of the antennas

Cons: Drivers nearly bricked my $1500 computer. I'm still working on it, but it's been one big, long headache since I got this thing.

Other Thoughts: Just go with a more reliable brand. Rosewill isms worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product

Pros: The signal is extremely strong and reliable. The price is more than reasonable, and Rosewill seems to have consistently decent, and well made products. I will buy again for future computers, and I will recommend this product, as well as try out some other Rosewill products.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've tried three different wireless adapters, one using pci, one using pci-e x1, and finally this one using USB. although I preferred not using a USB, I opted to buy this, as the price was reasonable, and I liked the flexibility to simply plug into the back, or have an extension out onto my desk (which is what I opted to do). Out of all three, rosewill's USB wireless adapted provides easily the best signal. I stay at max signal consistently, as opposed to the 2-3 I consistently stayed at with the other adapters.

4 out of 5 eggs1 month, no issues

Pros: Been running this adapter for a month under high network situations. I host servers, and file transfers for image boards. And have had little, to no issues with it. The only issue I have is listed in the cons.

The dual antennas are by far one of the better features for modern adapters. In a market where most producers use weak internal antennas, the RNX-N250 really does well including the dual antennas for extra range. I live a floor up, and all the way across my home, from my router. (The only cable in (for personal lack of a better term) jack is downstairs. Talk about poor home design). So having a large range is a complete must. Not to mention the speed is simply fantastic. Using my older wireless adapter (AE-3000), I had much shorter range, which means poorer signal, ergo poor speed.

Not to mention the AE-3000 would get far too hot doing hardly anything, where as the RNX can handle 3 to 1 MB up and down with hardly any heat.

For just a little under a month of heavy usage, and no catastrophic issues, I give it 4 eggs. I would give it 5, but it's still a bit early so far.

Cons: My only issue so far is that the network will drop with this card under the report of, "The Default Gateway cannot be found." I'm trying a fix to see if it changes anything permanently, but usually it just requires a quick Disable/Enable. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a major issue in a short time.

4 out of 5 eggsSignal is strong, install was not

Pros: -Currently works flawlessly on our windows computer, picks up a full signal as far from the router as the computer could possibly be. In the same range my PS Vita will only pick up a single bar while the computer rocks a full 100%

Cons: -Initially bought for our linux computer that was listed as compatible with the software. Refused to install the software, even manually running everything. It just refused to recognize. We no longer use that old lug however and this adapter found a new home on my sisters workstation.

Other Thoughts: We have 3 adapters we've used in this house on our very few wi-fi impaired devices, an old Netgear stick, a Belkin Dual-Band Stick, and this Rosewill adapter. Of the 3 this one picks up the best signal at any given distance from the router.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Had strong signal

Cons: Stopped working after two days, was intermittent.

Other Thoughts: Not exactly worth the hassle.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product-for the most part

Pros: Two antenna, can be rotated and has a hinge joint for pointing them towards signal. USB allows it to be plugged in anywhere on case where a port is available. Has virtual wifi mode that can broadcast and receive at the same time.

Cons: The USB plug itself is slightly deformed or something, it doesn't sit firmly in the sockets. I have the NZXT Phantom 410, which has USB ports on the top that are angled slightly to the right. The antenna will wiggle and partially unplug itself if the table I have the tower sitting on is bumped. I now have it plugged into the back of the case which of course has the horizontal mounted ports. It stays firmly enough in those. When I bought this, Newegg also offered a free USB extension cord which has a little support plate at the end designed for the antenna. The base did not have much weight to it, and so the antenna would easily fall over (and it didn't fit snug in the first place, so it wiggled around at the slightest touch).

Other Thoughts: Don't get me wrong, I love this adapter. It gives me a strong signal, better than my old EDUP mini adapter and my Toshiba Satellite laptop. It also allows me to create a virtual AP, which I use to connect my Nintendo DS and my Wii to the internet. I live in a dormitory for college, and it uses a login program to access the internet, making it impossible for my Nintendo systems to go online, but this gets around that great. Since I plugged the antenna into the back of my case, it sits just fine, although it would be great if it had a sturdier USB plug. Admittedly, the whole assembly has a bit of weight to it, but even so I would like to be able to plug it in to the extender I got with it to reduce interference. It's not much though, I go from 95% signal strength on the extender to 87% when it's on the back of the case.
