4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well, when the drivers cooperate. Plug in, do your thing.

Cons: Bad default driver support -- Windows 8.1 will BSOD with it's default driver, Rosewill drivers don't work, Ralink drivers are iffy at best.

Other Thoughts: Just wrote this review to say that the Asus PCE-N53 uses the exact same chipset and it's Windows 8.1 drivers work flawlessly -- you can download them from here: http://www.asus.com/Networking/PCEN53/HelpDesk_Download/

To be safe, install this driver BEFORE you plug in your wireless adapter.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card, bad drivers

Pros: Decent card for what it's worth. Good speeds, small profile. Got two of these on Black Friday for a great price.

Cons: Drivers from Rosewill's website are a joke (on 8.1 anyways), Ralink's drivers are difficult to get, and Microsoft's drivers are a nightmare, causing BSoD's. Finally got Ralink's drivers to work in compatibility mode.

Other Thoughts: Knocked an egg off for driver support. Otherwise, great card, worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Windows 7

Pros: Easy install, drivers are easy to download/install. Fast, reliable.

Cons: Not Windows 8 compatible.

Other Thoughts: Installed it with no problems at all. Reception is fantastic with the router 2 rooms away with 3 walls between it and the PC. Works perfectly for my Windows 7 rig.
The only con I have for it is that it will absolutely crash your Windows 8 installation process. I took it out, installed 8 with no problems, then installed the drivers, and reinstalled the card. Blue screens right off the bat before even getting to the desktop.

But I'm not knocking off an egg because I didn't buy it originally for an 8 machine. It works perfectly on my 7 setup.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good

Pros: - Maxes out at 5ghz band at 50mbps
- 2 bands
- no issues

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is a great wi-fi adapter. I have had 0 problems with it on windows 8. I built a HTPC for my mother and it is as fast as being directly connected to the internet.

3 out of 5 eggsgood card, not compatible with Win 8.1

Pros: Good card never had any problems with it while using Windows 8 easy to install and get working

Cons: NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 8.1. ?I recently upgraded my desktop to windows 8.1 but I was having an issue with a device. The install would blue screen while setting up devices. after pulling everything off and out of the computer including the wireless card it finally updated. I put everything back in and it blue screened on me, then pulled out just the wireless card and no problems. Not sure why Rosewill hasn't updated drivers for windows 8.1 but I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS CARD.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY! no more driver support you will end up replacing anyway. spend the extra $5 or $10 bucks for something else that will last longer

1 out of 5 eggsWon't work with Win8.1

Pros: Cheap

Cons: States compatible with Win8 but will not run on Win8.1. Causes machine to reboot and stall in failure mode.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was great as always and refunded cost of product and shipping since it did not support OS as stated.

3 out of 5 eggsworked fine but then died

Pros: It plugs into the motherboard so doesn't use up a usb slot.
Small - uses pciexpress x1 slot
pretty good reception - I have had this in a room one story away and opposite side of the house with good connection

Cons: After about 5 months, it began being flaky. Even when it was working ok It wouldn't startup for a few minutes so I had to wait for it. I tried replacing drivers but that only made it worse. I have Win7x64. Finally, it just stopped working at all. Rosewill seems to have some reliability problems, judging by reviews of other models.

Other Thoughts: When reception is critical, I think it would be better to have a usb version with an antenna, though that would take even longer to start up than the onboard model, since USB drivers first load, then configurations kick in. So that's what I'll try next, though I don't think I'll try Rosewill.

4 out of 5 eggsworks great now

Pros: Fast speeds, simple install, very sturdy antennas with great reception.

Cons: When i first installed it on my Windows 8.1 machine, it wouldn't recognise it, and crashed my rig a few times. When I saw a review about it not being compatable with 8.1, I was a little upset. So I headed to their website and looked for the most recent drivers again. Downloaded and installed, and boom, working like a charm ever since.

Other Thoughts: The auto update check for the drivers didn't do its job, and I almost returned it for that since I didn't know. But it's running great now, just with they were a little better about that stuff, not everyone checks online for the newest drivers.
