1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Will BSOD you when you boot up on Windows 8.1. You have to install the drivers before you can put it in, but it has to be the RIGHT drivers or you'll BSOD again. I finally got it working, but it wouldnt connect to my 5GHz bands and my download speeds were TERRIBLE, and the connection would cut off frequency. I would have to disable and re-enable the card to get (terrible) speeds again. I tried re-installing the drivers, but I got another BSOD, which I couldn't fix by taking it out, which caused me to have to reformat my computer.

I ended up returning this card and getting a Belkin dual band USB adapter, which has given my great download speeds (10MB/s vs the .2MB/s that this card gave), and I've had no hassle.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy

Pros: Never drops and im 4-5 (at least 5 walls) rooms away from the source.

Cons: oddly it doesn't pick up outside (not coming from my home) signals like my previous wireless adapter.. but again, inside the home they are strong strength.

Other Thoughts: time will tell with this item.. you usually get what you pay for, but we'll see how long this one holds out ;)

2 out of 5 eggsReal Pain

Pros: Looks decent, fits into PCI-E slot correctly, works Ok with inferior encryption options.

Cons: Card is very much a pain, won't connect with AES encryption. Rosewill and ASUS (PCE-N53) both have drivers for Win 8.1 at this point, both appear to make the card function and neither gives the BSOD that windows default drivers do. I played with this extensively by disabling in device manager and swapping drivers constantly. Rosewill/ASUS yield same results and performance. I enabled my 2.4g, 5g, and both guest versions of my network for my router (WNDR-3400) and tested swapping the network connection for both this and a USB adapter I have. Results were the same no matter what I tried, adapter will not connect to my network when I have security set to WPA2-PSK [AES]. Connects without encryption (real bad), with WEP (yuck), with WPA-PSK [TKIP], and with the TKIP + AES combined option. Will not work with regular AES encryption. Also, the 5g band always gets 1 bar less than 2.4 band.

Other Thoughts: Will keep monitoring drivers to see if anything newer comes out that makes this better with Win 8.1, but this card is not at all worth the headache. Double your price range and get something more reliable. I'll never get back the 3 days of my life I wasted playing with this, such a shame.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst card ever

Pros: Looks decent and comes with two antennas. Also comes with a low profile bracket.

Cons: EVERYTHING else. Windows 7 64-bit already had a driver for it. Sweet. Connect to my wireless AP, input the password, I see network connectivity and internet connectivity. I think I'm ready to roll. Nope...websites take forever to load if they ever do. I even tried the driver on the CD. Same thing. Tried an ASUS driver for the 5592 Ralink useless chipset. Nope. Either I got sent a defective card that I need to ship back (AND PAY FOR THE SHIPPING BACK) or, I can stomach the loss, and go to the local computer store to buy a Netgear or Belkin that I KNOW will work.

No-name company=you get what you pay for. Never had an issue with any other wireless adapters I've bought in the past; but then again, like I mentioned above, I've strictly bought Netgear or Belkin.

Other Thoughts: Rosewill, use a decent chipset. Ralink's website is non existent. You can't even find the drivers for the chipset that you're using on this particular card. No drivers, no current support, no future support...just straight up garbage. (Yes, I know they have a web site, mediatek...still NO DRIVERS).

2 out of 5 eggsNot Good at all - Read why BSOD in Windows 8.0 and 8.1

Pros: This review relates to Windows 8.0 and 8.1 \ Low Cost - That is all! I have several of these and they are a real bear to get installed. They cause BSOD if the wrong driver - even the recommended driver, is installed.

Once you get the right driver, it does work, but the performance is not what I expected. Range is not very good.

I did get it to work with both 8.0 and 8.1, but it was a real pain. Way too much work!

Cons: I purchased several of these to use with Windows 8 and have had a lot of trouble getting them to work. They cause BSOD and the drivers they recommend do not work. They say to install the 8.1 driver before putting the card in, but when you launch the driver utility, it says the card has to be in to load the driver?????? Don't they ever try this stuff?

The only driver I could get to work with 8.1 is the Ranlink Technology 5.0.5.0 dated 9/21/2012 - Anything else would cause BSOD

At this point, these should be plug and play and not require so much effort to get installed. I can not tell you how disappointing this was.

To date - the RNX-N250UBE has been one of the better adapters I have used. I get exceptional speeds with it and the ease of use is like it should be - Plug and Play!

Other Thoughts: I wrote this because they sent out an email bragging about this being one of the better adapters. It just bothers me to see them recommending this card. I can not imagine someone with less knowledge than I have trying to get this adapter to work. They would pull their hair out.

Lastly, what the heck is this putting the 8.1 driver out in a .7z compressed format. You will have to install a utility to extract it too. So another pain in the ...... ! If they would make all their downloads compatible with the Windows Extraction Utility, it would make life a lot easier.

But it doesn't really matter because the 8.1 driver does not work anyway. (rnx-n600pce.7z \ V1.0.0 \ 07/23/2014) is no good.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate to previous post

Pros: See previous remarks.

Cons: W/Win 8.1 has a weird way to need to be installed in order to work correctly.

Other Thoughts: Though the technical support said that there was no Win 8.1 driver for this card, after searching through the website, there is a windows 8.1 driver that was uploaded on 7/23/2014. Once I was able to clean out previous installations of the non compatible version of driver that shipped with the card. I removed the card, installed the new driver (even though the software indicates that the card must be installed before continuing, you have to install the software first to prevent resource issues), installed the card after and it finally began to work. It's been working great since. I had chosen this card as I know Rosewill has made many other components that I have used and worked well. Was a bit disappointed with the lack of knowledge from their own tech support about this product (with how quick the call was, he didn't even look up to see is there was a Win 8.1 driver for the card, just out of the gate told me that it wouldn't work.

Am very satisfied with the wireless N card itself, and not satisfied in the least with the technical support agent that I worked with when I had called in.

1 out of 5 eggsNot 8.1 compatible

Pros: Cheap, removable antennas. Overall was pretty easy to set up. The device driver software was simple to install, though would have been nicer if they clarified that you only need to install the wifi manager when installing with WinXP.

Cons: Poor customer service. Says is windows 8 compatible, doesn't say it's not compatible with 8.1. Causes a BSOD if you try to install it with windows 8.1 it will output IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and restart the computer.

Other Thoughts: Not windows 8.1 compatible. Called their tech support line, was told it would be 30-40 mins to get a call back. Got a call back a little before that time frame, and soon as I told the support agent that I was trying to install it in windows 8.1, he told me that they don't have compatible drivers yet because the OS was still to new... despite it having been public for nearly 1 year now. Am downgrading my friends computer to Win 7 to ensure full functionality, since there are known issues with windows 8 and some programs they need.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Dual-band wireless adapter and PCI-Ex1. Also comes with the half-height bracket for installation in thinner cases. I've had no problems with this card.

Cons: The driver, recently provided online, must be installed prior to card installation with Windows 8.1.

Other Thoughts: The card works great and I haven't had any problems. I was prepared to use the Asus driver people were mentioned for W8.1, but Rosewill released a driver on their own before I did my own installation.

3 out of 5 eggs5GHz works ok

Pros: low price

Cons: 2.4GHz does not provide good throughput. I had a 2.4GHz router only and the computer with the card is about 10feet (3m) away from it and was getting about 12Mb/s. Recently I replaced my router with a dual band one and now on 5GHz band I am getting a whooping 90Mb/s so I am giving the product 3 stars vs the 2 stars I gave it before.
