1 out of 5 eggsSomething is wrong.

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N600PCE, Dual Band Wireless N600 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 2x High Power Dual Band Antenna

Pros: Was recognized with the Asus driver.

Cons: Extremely slow, only getting around 4 Mb/s when my internet speed is 40+. I think there may be an issue, or I installed something incorrectly, but I get faster speeds over a usb wifi adapter I have. I may just have got a bad chip, but I doubt that. Will leave more eggs if I can get some help or figure it out and it ends up working.

5 out of 5 eggsInstalls flawlessly on Win7

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N600PCE, Dual Band Wireless N600 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 2x High Power Dual Band Antenna

Pros: Installs flawlessly on a Windows 7 PC. Just pop in the CD, run the executable to install the driver, and within 2 minutes you're connected.

Prior this card, my 802.11g card would constantly cut out if I opened too many windows at once, or if my computer came back from suspend, or if my phone connected to my home wireless, or if I breathed too hard. Now with this card connected to my N600 router on the 5G signal, I have no problems.

Cons: Possibly some issues regarding Windows 8 driver? Hopefully this will be resolved by Windows 10 (either on Rosewill or MSFT's side), because I have a feeling this NIC card will stay with my build for a few years to come.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well, nightmare to install

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N600PCE, Dual Band Wireless N600 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 2x High Power Dual Band Antenna

Pros: The device works really well. Has a strong and consistent signal.

Cons: Installation can be a nightmare (See "Other thoughts" below).

Other Thoughts: This card does not play nice with Windows 8.1!

Here's what I learned from using this card in two separate computers.

If your computer is already running Windows 8.1 and you install this card, your computer will likely start crashing frequently. This is an easy fix. Before you physically install the card in the PCI-E slot, install the drivers first. If you already installed the card, take it out and install the drivers first. Once the drivers are installed, the card can be physically installed an should work fine.

If your computer is running Windows 8, this card will work fine, but trying to upgrade to Windows 8.1 while this card is installed in your computer will likely cause the upgrade to fail every time. Here's what I had to do. First, I downloaded Windows 8.1 through the app store like normal, using this card for internet access. When the computer first went to restart as part of the Windows 8.1 installation, I powered off the computer, removed the card, powered on the computer, let the Windows 8.1 installation finish, installed the driver for this card (which I had pre-downloaded), and then physically installed the card. Works like a charm.

This should go without saying, but make sure the computer is powered off whenever you add or remove this card.

As other reviewers have mentioned, I will confirm that a certain Asus driver works with this card. The link to the driver is below. Make sure you computer has a program that can open .rar files before you start either of the above processes.

1 out of 5 eggsWindows 8.1 Driver 2

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N600PCE, Dual Band Wireless N600 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 2x High Power Dual Band Antenna

Pros: None.

Cons: Revision to "Windows 8.1 Driver" review.
After using the ASUS driver(The only way to get this card to work with 8.1) for 1/2 a day I turned off my PC. When I turned it back on I was unable to connect to my router. Reset the network card, and my router, but I am unable to connect. I have multiple devices that are working properly with the router, and if I put a USB wireless stick on my PC, disabling the Rosewill card first, I am able to connect.

In short DO NOT BUY THIS CARD if you are using Windows 8.1.

2 out of 5 eggsWindows 8.1 Driver

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N600PCE, Dual Band Wireless N600 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 2x High Power Dual Band Antenna

Pros: DL speed improved by 6mb/s vs a USB wireless card.

Cons: Drivers that come with the product, and any Rosewill downloadable drivers cause windows 8.1 BSOD. Google search pointed me to the only solution, and to my surprise, was to download the Asus PCE-N53 driver for windows 8.1. Install the driver before inserting the card, and things should work out for you. Pretty ridiculous you have to use a driver from a competitor. 2 eggs for the hassle.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Windows 8.1 pro Combatible

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N600PCE, Dual Band Wireless N600 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 2x High Power Dual Band Antenna

Pros: PCI-E, affordable, 2 removable antennae

Cons: cannot install or run win 8.1 or 8.1 pro. BSOD every time, giving the error message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

Other Thoughts: Here's a solution I found, I'm going to try this when I get home. If this doesnt work, it's RMA time.

3 out of 5 eggsCareful with this thing... but it'll work.

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N600PCE, Dual Band Wireless N600 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 2x High Power Dual Band Antenna

Pros: Connects to my wifi network at 802.11n speeds.

Cons: Knocking off one egg for the trouble it gave me during my build, and one more because Rosewill is no help at all to fix it.

This card was crashing my freshly-built PC every few minutes with the error message "IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL".

My advice is to build everything else in your PC, download the driver below to another device and get it onto a USB stick or download via your motherboard's Ethernet connection, then install that driver before you actually populate any of your PCI-E slots. Also, I would recommend making sure you have at least some kind of Win8.1 drivers installed for PCI-E before you do anything at all with this wireless card.

Search the web for "PCE-N53"
(I used driver version 5.0.34.1)
(The driver that fixed my issue comes from Ralink)

Other Thoughts: I'm a computer engineer and I work for a major PC component supplier, I know what I'm doing, and this really wasn't a big deal comparatively.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this device from a hardware perspective, you just need to do your homework about drivers.

You'll be fine. This card is fine.
