2 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with Windows 8.1

Pros: Excellent price point for the features this card offers.

Cons: Dreadfully incompatible with Windows 8.1. The drivers are iffy at best and completely nonfunctional the rest of the time.

Other Thoughts: If you're planning on running Windows 8/8.1, do yourself a favor and don't bother with this card. Tinkering with the drivers is a process that takes hours and might not yield any positive results.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent card, troublesome install

Pros: Inexpensive, functional

Cons: Prevents standard Windows 8.1 installation

Other Thoughts: See Cory L.'s review for the driver you need to get this card working with Windows 8.1. I was unable to get Windows to install, let alone run, with the card attached. The Asus driver fixes everything. Install WIndows, install the driver, and then put the card in.

If you find the network stuttering a bit don't forget to try reorienting the antennas. That actually made a big difference for me. I used this because I was too lazy to run an ethernet line to a room with limited access.

1 out of 5 eggsFail

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Didn't work. Installed Driver but it wouldn't work in Win 7. Computer had a previous Rosewill (Ralink ) driver installed for an N-150 USB adapter so I uninstalled that one & got the latest driver from Ralink but it wouldn't install at all. Just froze even after disabling my security software.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. Bought a name brand adapter from the big A where I won't have to pay through the nose for return if it doesn't work.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well, when the drivers cooperate. Plug in, do your thing.

Cons: Bad default driver support -- Windows 8.1 will BSOD with it's default driver, Rosewill drivers don't work, Ralink drivers are iffy at best.

Other Thoughts: Just wrote this review to say that the Asus PCE-N53 uses the exact same chipset and it's Windows 8.1 drivers work flawlessly -- you can download them from here: http://www.asus.com/Networking/PCEN53/HelpDesk_Download/

To be safe, install this driver BEFORE you plug in your wireless adapter.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card, bad drivers

Pros: Decent card for what it's worth. Good speeds, small profile. Got two of these on Black Friday for a great price.

Cons: Drivers from Rosewill's website are a joke (on 8.1 anyways), Ralink's drivers are difficult to get, and Microsoft's drivers are a nightmare, causing BSoD's. Finally got Ralink's drivers to work in compatibility mode.

Other Thoughts: Knocked an egg off for driver support. Otherwise, great card, worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Windows 7

Pros: Easy install, drivers are easy to download/install. Fast, reliable.

Cons: Not Windows 8 compatible.

Other Thoughts: Installed it with no problems at all. Reception is fantastic with the router 2 rooms away with 3 walls between it and the PC. Works perfectly for my Windows 7 rig.
The only con I have for it is that it will absolutely crash your Windows 8 installation process. I took it out, installed 8 with no problems, then installed the drivers, and reinstalled the card. Blue screens right off the bat before even getting to the desktop.

But I'm not knocking off an egg because I didn't buy it originally for an 8 machine. It works perfectly on my 7 setup.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good

Pros: - Maxes out at 5ghz band at 50mbps
- 2 bands
- no issues

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is a great wi-fi adapter. I have had 0 problems with it on windows 8. I built a HTPC for my mother and it is as fast as being directly connected to the internet.

3 out of 5 eggsgood card, not compatible with Win 8.1

Pros: Good card never had any problems with it while using Windows 8 easy to install and get working

Cons: NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 8.1. ?I recently upgraded my desktop to windows 8.1 but I was having an issue with a device. The install would blue screen while setting up devices. after pulling everything off and out of the computer including the wireless card it finally updated. I put everything back in and it blue screened on me, then pulled out just the wireless card and no problems. Not sure why Rosewill hasn't updated drivers for windows 8.1 but I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS CARD.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY! no more driver support you will end up replacing anyway. spend the extra $5 or $10 bucks for something else that will last longer

1 out of 5 eggsWon't work with Win8.1

Pros: Cheap

Cons: States compatible with Win8 but will not run on Win8.1. Causes machine to reboot and stall in failure mode.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was great as always and refunded cost of product and shipping since it did not support OS as stated.
