5 out of 5 eggsWin8 winner

Pros: Fast, easy install on Windows 8 x64 on my Ultrabook.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Good job Newegg for beating the trolls (Alcatel)! I'll be buying even more stuff from now on.

5 out of 5 eggsSeamless Gigabit over USB 3.0

Pros: Windows 8 automatically detected the device and installed driver v1.16.7.0, the entire process taking no more than a minute.

Ran a quick 4GB transfer to test and speeds ranged from 59MB/sec to 70MB/sec, hovering most of the time around 65MB/sec. Transfer was completed in about a minute.

Extremely satisfied, but it's important to note that the device has been out of its packaging for less than an hour. Will update with long term results if things goes south.

Cons: n/a... for now

Other Thoughts: Ethernet plug was very snug, almost had to force it in. Giggity.

4 out of 5 eggsLinux kernel 3.9

Pros: Works fine with Linux Mint Debian using Linux kernel 3.9rc4. Samba transfer rates over 35 MB/s.

Cons: Wasn't recognized out of the box (Linux kernel 3.7).

Other Thoughts: I compiled the new kernel from source to get the cypress touchpad working on my laptop. There was also new drivers available to make for this NIC.

3 out of 5 eggsHalf of Ethernet speed

Pros: Works in Windows 8 on USB 3.0

Cons: Slow comparing to ethernet

Other Thoughts: Test in comparing with ethernet file copying of the same file of 20GB size cross LAN. While ethernet gives 20MB/s this adapter can only reach 10MB/s on USB 3.0.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Working with Android Mk808b Yet

Pros: Unknown yet.

Cons: Does not work yet with an Android Mk808b TV stick, at least not yet. I have emailed Rosewill tech support. I bought the device because it said it had Android support. If it does, no one has explained it yet to the device.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Device!

Pros: Works very well, as expected.

Cons: Cord is slightly longer than needed, but a good length to be able to put the bulk of the dongle behind your screen instead of at the side of your laptop.

Other Thoughts: Went online to rosewill.com to get the Win8 driver, installed quickly with no issues.

Works great on my USB 3.0 port.

It's fun seeing speedtest's meter maxed out!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Bought this as a ShellShocker to test when setting up some of our new corporate Ultrabooks. Pulled the driver from Windows Update using the wireless, then picked up the Gigabit connection to make copying user data faster.

Cons: Wish the driver were already part of the OS, but its not hard to install.

Other Thoughts: Thinking of having the company buy some for our Ultrabook users in case they have problems with wifi and/or pick up a couple more for our desktop group to use when troubleshooting/doing data moves.

Pros: USB 3.0
1000Mbps
Gigabit
Sturdy
Long USB cable

Cons: No Cons at the moment

Other Thoughts: Have only used on a Windows 7 32/64 system. Soon will try with Windows 8 pro. So far no issues. Have yet to try Linux, but more of a Windows user.

2 out of 5 eggsExternal Linux driver

Pros: Quality USB cable, nice looking device. Both the USB and RJ45 connections are very tight. I don't know if that's good or bad, but neither are going to fall out, so I'll call it good. Haven't tested in a USB3 port yet, but in USB2 it got over 200mbps.

Cons: The Linux support in the description is misleading. I take "Linux kernel 2.6.14 and later" to mean the driver is in that kernel and upstream. It's not. You can go download it and compile it and it seems to work, but plugging the device into any random Linux system isn't going to "just work" like anyone using Linux would expect. Even on Fedora 18, which was just released, the driver isn't there. This is the reason I'm only giving it 3 stars. In fact, I'm going to take off 1 more. 2 for not having the driver upstream and 1 more for the less than forthcoming driver support. Get with it Rosewill, aka Newegg, get your drivers upstream!
