3 out of 5 eggsWorks OK for some things

Pros: Provides 2 ports in a x1 pci-e slot. Speed isn't bad. Same card as the SYBA SY-PEX24028.

Cons: Has a problem with PFSense: when a port is connected to the Internet, it stops working after a few minutes. This problem happened with two different ISPs and internet modems. It may have something to do with the port being placed in 'promiscuous mode', but not sure.

Other Thoughts: The SYBA SD-PEX24033 card does not have this problem.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive and solid

Pros: Dual port, low cost, PCI-E

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Finally, a low cost dual port NIC. The Syba model similar to this appears to be exactly the same card, so pick whichever is the cheapest the day you are shopping.

4 out of 5 eggsAffordable LACP

Pros: LACP, Jumbo Frames, affordable, decently packaged

Cons: Not an Intel Chipset

Other Thoughts: I don't really have much to offer in this review. If you are looking to add an additional couple network ports to your system or home server, this is a good match.
Works smoothly in most *Nix distros

3 out of 5 eggsAnother FedEx SmartPost fail

Pros: Looked good on paper, so I ordered 4 of them for a Hyper-V lab at home.

Cons: Never arrived, even though FedEx SmartPost claims they were delivered.

Other Thoughts: Ordered 9 May, FedEx SmartPost shows delivered 13 May, Newegg issued an RMA and marked the items as received on 2 June. No other communication from FedEx or USPS. 25 days after ordering I get a 'you should receive a refund in 3-5 business days' email. I would like to re-order them, but the sale is over. It would cost $40 more now for the same NICs. Very sad, Newegg.

3 out of 5 eggsNot for virtualization

Pros: Good card, reasonably priced! Works fine in standard machines

Cons: Not supported by Vmware ESXi. No VLAN support.

Other Thoughts: I ended up virtualizing the server with Vmware after purchasing the card. I really didn't think much of my decision at the time. The problem is that the Vmware does not support it. Considering the price, I am not inconvenienced all that much, but not being supported by most common virtualization platform in this day and age is enough to knock off a couple of points. That said, if you want it for your desktop or standalone server, you can't beat what you're getting for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsRosewill RNG-407 Dual Port NIC

Pros: I ordered the Rosewill Dual NIC yesterday and it arrived this afternoon and I had it installed and configured 20 mins later and it works great. I currently have it in a Windows 8 machine but I am planning to move it to another computer that I am using as a server

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Newegg has the fastest shipping I have seen. I really enjoy ordering computer equipment from Newegg and one time when the equipment did not work they have a great RMA process.

5 out of 5 eggsEight are working well

Pros: Full and half height brackets come standard, no additional drivers needed for linux installs.

Cons: No cons so far

Other Thoughts: I purchased eight of these, and installed them on various Ubuntu 12.04 LTS machines (some full height, some half height expansion slots). All are working well, each port is assigned to a different subnet for lab testing purposes.

No drivers were required, just a small edit to /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules to assign unique adapter names.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great. Jumbo frames. Bonded interfaces.

Pros: Thing has been performing admirably. I'm using it as a bonded interface for my Xen server at the home lab. rr-balance mode. Hasn't skipped a beat.

Cons: Doesn't have any logic of its own, so it hammers the CPU I/O. Then again, how many cards do, and for that matter, at this price? It's an eight core CPU. It'll live.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Linux Mint 16

Pros: Installed on my linux mint 16 desktop. Didn't need to hunt for drivers, linux automatically found everything. Was up and running in under 1 minute. Price is another plus.

Cons: Only comes up as 100mps in Linux Mint. Not the NIC cards fault. Rosewill has a linux driver on their website that would probably fix this. I may try it out later but for now i'm leaving it as is.
