5 out of 5 eggsAmazing throughput great price!

Pros: Provides more than enough throughput for my pfsense firewall and works in tandem with our windows server aswell!

Cons: Nothing other than not being free?

Other Thoughts: Perfect price/networking performance for a nic

5 out of 5 eggsRE: Does this card work with VMWare ESXi?

Pros: In my experience this dual NIC is well supported under Linux but not so much with VMWare. I tried it with VMWare several months ago (at this point not sure ESXi 5.5, 6) but removed it. The RNG 407 is based on RealTek chips which seem to have problems with VMWare. The VMWare 'supported hardware lists' are the best source for this kind of question.

However, I like this card and use it in another Linux application where it has proven to be a reliable, cost effective solution.

Cons: None in my application.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks!

Pros: - Easy to install
- Drivers worked on Windows 7 64-bit
- Included software has some nice features for monitoring the card and network activity
- Included a low profile bracket

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: Installed on a Dell Vostro 230s that had a dead integrated NIC. Threw this in a free PCIe slot and works like a charm.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent 1x PCI-E Card

Pros: It comes with both bracktes?

Cons: Placed in a PowerEdge R905, causes the entire system not to boot.

Other Thoughts: If I had a chance to use this I probably would have given a better review but as it makes my system unable to boot I really cant comment on it. I did test it in another computer and it booted up and found the card with no issues.

I will likely place it in another server I'm waiting on in the mail and and see if it works there, really wanted this card for LACP teaming.

1 out of 5 eggsDead at 6 months

Pros: Cheap price. PCI Express, 2 Gb ethernet ports.

Cons: Died after 6 months. Was using in a router setup running pfSense. It ran solid for a little over 6 months then started flaking out. Dropping connections and lagging on both ports. Thought it might be the machine it was running in so I freshly installed on another machine with a PCI express port and it was the same story. Replaced with a used 4 port Gb ethernet card I got from a friend and both machines work fine.

Other Thoughts: Might be ok for someone who isn't looking for 24/7 use, but I'd get something else. Spend a little more now to save the frustration later of trying to narrow down a bad NIC.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Realtek dual Gb LAN

Pros: I have now 3 of them, one working since more than one year in a server and everything works fine. It uses Dual Realtek 8111G chipset. Drivers are available easily on realtek website.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This device is also sold under different names, be careful, there is another one same as this one being less expensive. Different companies put their name on a box that contain the same exact device, don't pay more for the same thing.

Both are the same.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking on Ubuntu!

Pros: Working as I installed it on my small compact hp computer. Run great on Ubuntu 14.04 and need further test because this card will be used eventually for control internet access.

Cons: None. Only the fear that it will not last long as like some other reviews said.

Other Thoughts: The price was half of it's original price. If you can see it for 40$, this is a good buy if it last a minimum of time...
