5 out of 5 eggsSolid AC1200 adapter

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface

Pros: + Installed without any issues on Windows 7 & 10, using standard online drivers.
+ Performs on a par with other usb3-AC1200 adapters w/o external antennas.
+ Bigger than a thumb drive, but otherwise light and compact, and includes a usb3 extension.

Cons: - On the 5 GHz band it worked fine for me, but not as well as an adapter with external antennas. Otherwise, nothing to fault.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a dual-band usb-AC adapter, this is a good choice. My initial driver installation was ridiculously simple. I had been using a Edimax AC-1200 adapter on a Windows 7 computer, which was running with a standard TP-Link driver. I pulled out that adapter and inserted the Rosewill, which immediately installed itself with the same TP-Link driver! I just had to enter the WiFi password and I was back online. In fact, as I did this I was listening to a 1-hour audio lecture streaming from a web page, and the audio continued uninterrupted. It must have been buffered, because I don't think an actual handoff of the stream from one adapter to the next is possible. Still, it was the most painless installation ever.

I also installed the Rosewill in another computer that had never had a wireless adapter in it. I did use a temporary ethernet connection (Sonos speakers are really handy for this purpose!) to facilitate driver installation, which Windows 10 took care of promptly. I did not try the CD drivers (I never do).

Performance-wise, this adapter was rock solid on 2.4GHz, but needed a strong signal to deliver on 5GHz. I have found that to be true of any adapter that uses internal antennas. If you need a 5GHz connection at some distance from the router, your best bet is to make sure that both the router and the adapter have multiple external antennas, to allow AC beam-forming to squeeze the best performance from the signal. But if you are not too far from the router, or if you need an AC adapter that travels well, this is a good choice.

5 out of 5 eggsVery satisfied

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface

Pros: USB 3, good price and very fast.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Got this as an "Open Box" item here on Newegg and I bought this wifi adapter because my notebook does not have 802.11ac. Win 10 recognized the adapter and installed TP-Link drivers, which work just fine after rebooting, which seems to be necessary to complete the drivers installation. The freeware Acrylic WiFi showed this adapter connecting to my TP-Link AC1750 router (converted to an access point) on the 5 GHz band at 1300 Mbps even tho this adapter has a limit of 867 Mbps on that band. Haven't figured that out but this adapter is definitely fast.

The device is wide and partially covers the adjacent ports but a USB 3 extension cable is included that corrects that problem. I use a 4-port USB 3 hub that has a 5 inch cable and that works well. The adapter has an activity light that blinks. Overall, I'm pleased with it and would buy another if needed.

5 out of 5 eggsCustomer is satisfied

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface

Pros: It is Dual Band AC so it operates at gaming speeds and when accompanied by an AC router gives my customer all the bandwidth he needs. He does not need to run Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable all over the place and if someone wants to use another wireless device in the house he doesn't loose bandwidth.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Anyone looking to expand the wireless experience in their home just needs one of these for your device and an AC router, even on the lower band at 300 Mbps(n speed) you can do excellent gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsit is ok

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface

Pros: Connects to my 5.0 frequency.
Fast data rate.
Pop in cd for drivers and you're good to go.

Cons: On the 5.0 Frequency, the connection drops way too much. it is unstable. Gotta keep connected to 2.4 for consistent connection.

2 out of 5 eggsIt is good when it wants to be.

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface

Pros: -Fast connection speed
-Easy install
-Solid design
-Comes with USB 3.0 extension cable

Cons: -Constantly fails
-Disconnects from internet several times a day.
-Have to unplug and plug it back in sometimes in order for it to work after it fails.

Other Thoughts: If given the choice I probably would not buy this again. While the connection speed is really fast when it is working it is just too big of a hassle to have to reconnect it to the internet 5, 10 times a day. Plus sometimes that won't work and I'll have to unplug it and plug it back in after a few seconds. Luckily I don't have to do crucial internet tasks too frequently.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Wireless Solution

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface

Pros: -Consistent speeds

-It works with Windows 10

-Great for small homes or apartments

Cons: -It's bigger than expected. Had to use the extender just to keep it from blocking other USB ports.

-The drivers are a pain to install. I had to hardwire my PC and download them from the website.

Other Thoughts: The drivers included on the disc are garbage. You'd be better off downloading them off of the website. There seems to be backwards compatibility with the Windows 8 drivers on Windows 10, which was a pain to get working, but it works.

I was actually a little surprised by it's stable connection. There's two walls and a living room between my PC and the router, but it keeps a connection very similar to a LAN setup. I have yet to experience a connection drop due to the adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked even better than I hoped!

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface

Pros: On one hand, it turns out I didn't have to use the installation disk because it installed its own drivers and started working about ten seconds after I plugged it in! That was a pleasant surprise, seeing how most of the reviews say that installing drivers was difficult. It also about doubled my internet speeds compared to my last wireless adapter.

Cons: On the other hand, when I tried to get the installation program going from the CD, I got the error message that "This platform does not support your operating system." Oh well. It works so I guess that's all that matters. It's a little wider than I thought it would be and it takes up about 1.5 usb ports, so don't plan on plugging anything in next to it.

Other Thoughts: Great product, not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and this device rocks!

5 out of 5 eggsBest performance and great price

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface

Pros: Please DO NOT give it an egg just because Windows doesn't recognize it. As long as, it works after you install the driver. What do we really want here? I mean we want low price and good performance, right? Who cares if Windows doesn't recognize it. We want to pay more for it so windows can recognize it? Really??????????? Come on people, use your common sense.

Cons: Well, it's big. It's bigger than the pictures show but so what? IT WORKS PEOPLE!!!!!!!! Oh one more thing, lol, you have to install the driver and the utility, though. It is kind of confusing but.... Hey, for the price what else can we ask for.....

Other Thoughts: Once again, please DO NOT give it a bad review just because Windows doesn't recognize it. If it doesn't work, by all mean Please do it.
