3 out of 5 eggsNot so good customer service

Pros: I like the overall design and that is has POE.

Cons: Non-standard POE. The AC adapter for the POE injector failed less than 24hours of operation. Called EnGenius and instead of keeping a customer happy and just shipping me a cheap AC adapter, they said I have to RMA it to Newegg. I would think it would be in the best interest for a company to stand behind it's products from day 1 and not from 30 days afterwards. So now Newegg will receive a perfectly good unit with a bad AC adapter, the customer (myself) will have to pay shipping and wait even longer to receive my product. I asked them wouldn't just be easier to send me an AC adapter and they said that is policy.

Other Thoughts: I didn't really get a chance to review this AP and will follow up with a better review later.

4 out of 5 eggsI am Happy

Pros: Works great. Strong signal. Easy to physically set up, and plenty of mounting possibilities.

Cons: Software setup takes a little Networking knowledge. Not a problem for me though.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these 4 months ago, to set up a wireless bridge for a customer. Took some configuring, but has worked without any problems.
Just bought another one the other day to expand my wireless network at home, so that my father who lives two blocks away can tap into my network, thus get free internet.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the trick

Pros: weatherproof
easy to configure
only one cable needed (PoE)

Cons: PoE injector is a bit cheap

Other Thoughts: I have this mounted about 8' above ground. There is about 800' of grassy fields and a tree line between it and the wireless router located in my friend's house. Works flawlessly even in rain.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome AP!

Pros: Great power, doesn't drop connection, integrated seamlessly into my home network, Easy setup (after reading reviews), POE is really slick, has auto-reset function

Cons: Manual is a bit lacking, but so is every router/AP manual I've read, POE isn't standard, but I don't have any other POE hardware so it's a non-issue

Other Thoughts: Awesome AP! I needed to get coverage for the deck and backyard and this little unit is fantastic! It's setup to reboot once a week automatically and it has been problem free from day 1. Make sure your network settings are 100% identical (WPA encryption mode, etc.) and this AP will blend right in to your network.
Steps to a pain-free setup:
1. Router is 192.168.0.1
2. Router DHCP does .100 -.150
3. Set AP to static IP at 192.168.0.2
4. Copy wifi settings from main router
5. Reboot and you're done.
The screens don't have any hand-holding, so novice users may be intimidated, but go find a techie to help you out. I will be buying a 2nd and 3rd one to improve coverage in the rest of the house

5 out of 5 eggsThey Work

Pros: Low cost compared to other models, Decent power, ease of setup given the poor documentation, Compact, does exactly what they claim.

Cons: Poor documentation

Other Thoughts: Finally broke down and bought a pair of these after trying several different antenna's to extend my wifi to my shop which is 600ft away from the house and router with a lake, island with trees and the lake dam as obstacles. Went from a 1mbs iffy connection to a solid 54mbs connection and I am only getting an orange light on th signal strength due to the one at the house set as the AP being suction cupped to a window and the one set as the bridge setup inside. I do have the one at the shop hooked to my TP Link high gain directional antenna, which helped but I should get an even better signal once I mount both unit's outside on masts where they can see each other clearly. Will be buying a 3rd unit once I move from the lake house to the main house later this year though I might go for one of the more powerful units as that house is an additional 4 or 5 hundred feet from the shop.

3 out of 5 eggsLil Wonder

Pros: Very neat device, great for home network.

Cons: If you need more then what the stock firmware offers find a different device. Wlan lights on side do not work with 1.3.1 firmware when set to Access Point Mode, atleast not on mine.
No easy way to isolate AP from LAN without also losing internet.
Documentation is horribly lacking.

Other Thoughts: DD_WRT was a bust, can not boost antannae strength beyond what factory firmware will handle or it will heat up fast. The lights worked well with dd-wrt. You can reflash from dd-wrt to original firmware with some hair loss and a lot of googleing. Having to pay money for dd-wrt before you have a chance to figure it all out is a solid bust. Not worth the money or the time to use it. Over heating this thing shuts it down fast. If you live in Alaska and this thing is going to be outside knock yourself out.
Spend the extra 20 bucks and buy the EOC2611p.

1 out of 5 eggsNot heat tolerant. Not ventilated. Wifi drop.

Pros: So, this little easy bake oven works great if you have an "open" wireless in decent temperatures and if you don't intend to turn up the power settings to the advertised figure.

It works great out of the box, with the factory settings for giving away internet to a modestly sized area.

But, there are some caveats for other applications.

Cons: If you engage WPA2/WPA plus AES/Tkip, this non-ventilated wonder will get hot and disconnect.

If you turn the power settings to "24dbi" from the menu, this non-ventilated wonder will get hot and disconnect.

It has neither diversity nor mimo, so you need a large collinear or other physically large size antenna, because, otherwise, the allegedly impressive range is stopped at the first obstacle, and once again you get disconnect.

Common WiFi "drops on large files" error, if when also used with security enabled, which is yet another excuse for it to get hot and disconnect.

Throughput speed is worse than an old Link$ys WRT, so this EnGenius can bring your office network down to an all time record for slow.

Other Thoughts: Lack of documentation for where this unit does NOT work earned EnGenius a 1 egg rating (an "F"). Normal home networking, with security engaged, is where its performance is. . . unfortunate.

Nevertheless, if you intend to "give away" internet to its coverage area, well that application probably won't overheat the unit.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME. But not a DD-WRT Repeater

Pros: This thing is powerful. I'm using it in an RV park, it's not even pointed in the right direction, and I'm covering the whole park just about (1000ft?).

Cons: I bought another one thinking I could use it as a WiFi repeater because it is DD-WRT compatible. It's not DD-WRT SP2 compatible, which is where you find the "repeater" function.

Other Thoughts: Mine is outside and we've had a lot of rain and it's been fine so far. This unit broadcasts four SSID's. Which is cool. Makes it look like the park is loaded with WiFi equipment. I'm running two 50ft sections of Ethernet with a coupler after the POE. Seems powered to full efficiency.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat repeater

Pros: I bought two of these to get Wifi to cover my sister's property. One is mounted outdoors on the back of her house. It is connect with Cat5e to house router. The other is mounted on a window inside the cottage about 70 feet behind the house. We now have great coverage on the patio and full bars inside the entire cottage.

Cons: I cant think of any.

Other Thoughts: The setup was easy. These units offer great flexibility in extending the range of your wifi.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks good

Pros: small size. Has plenty of mounting options. POE.

Cons: Range not as far as I had imagined, but enough for my application.
