Gigabit wired EAP350 offers a "smoke detector" look, and is a high-powered (up to 29dBm) wireless-n access point / WDS Bridge / WDS AP operates seamlessly in the 2.4GHz frequency spectrum supporting 802.11 b/g/n standard high speed feature. It is the best way to add long range wireless capability to your existing wired network or to add bandwidth to your wireless installation.

EAP350 features high wireless output power and receive sensitivity along with antenna diversity. High output power and high sensitivity extend wireless coverage to reduce the roaming between access points and to provide a reliable wireless connection. Gigabit Ethernet port offers faster data transferring and it is ideal for HD gaming and video streaming.

To protect your wireless connectivity, it can encrypt all wireless transmissions through 64/128bits WEP data encryption and also supports WPA/WPA2. The MAC address filtering lets you select exactly which stations should have access to your network. In addition, the user isolation function can protect the private network between client users. The attractive design, high performance and Gigabit wired make the EAP350 a suitable wireless solution for your residence or office.

  • newegg HIGH-POWER, LONG-RANGE WIRELESS-N Up to 29dBm (800mW) RF Tx power provides greater signal coverage compared to other competitive offerings.
  • newegg GIGABIT WIRED EAP350 provides up to 10x faster data transfer than Fast Ethernet, ideal for bandwidth-intensive and sensitive applications like online gaming, VoIP, video and other multimedia streaming.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing support

Pros: Nice little access point. Looks like a smoke detector.

Cons: Support is worthless. I contacted them about my product and the only answer I got back was

"This unit is now out of warranty. We do not service past warranty period."

I was expecting some level of help or troubleshooting. Not just GO AWAY!

I tried to follow up with them, but they did not respond to me.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Units!

Pros: Great looking unit, POE, Easy to mount

Cons: DEFAULT IP IS 192.168.1.1.... come on guys, make it .5 or something other then with 75% of the worlds routers are.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you update the firmware after installing... we've seen some odd things happen on older FW versions on these, but updating to the latest always clears it up. We have deployed 50+ of these to our clients, so easy to set up (minus the IP issue)

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: It works. I have 12 of these installed in hotel, covers entire hotel, plus some outside. Hotel guests use lots of different wireless devices, they all connect without fuss, even apple products.

Cons: It advertise 300mb per second. The highest I achieved is 150mb per second. All access points are set open, no encryption check. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

4 out of 5 eggsInformation about Le Dude's Password issue.

Pros: (See Previous Review)

Cons: I had your issue as well when I first set up my APs (which shipped with firmware Version 1.1.0:

What it turned out to be was an issue with passwords exceeding 12 characters (My password happened to be 13 characters). I thought I had gotten locked out as well, but I decided to see if maybe it had dropped the last character. Turned out it had, and I was free to access the AP by simply entering the first 12 characters of the password.

Other Thoughts: (See Previous Review)

As of yet, I'm not sure if the "Con" above was an issue specific to that version of the firmware (v 1.1.0), or if it carried through (I just used the same 12-char version on my new installs). If it hasn't been fixed, perhaps it's something EnGenius can look into.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for providing feedback on password issue you’ve experienced. Our engineering team is checking into this possible issue now. We will include an update into upcoming firmware release once the issue being identified and cleared. If you have further questions or any other feedbacks/suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888-735-7888 or email us wlan@engeniustech.com.

Best regards,

4 out of 5 eggsWorth Every Penny

Pros: I've purchased 3 of these + PoE Injectors for use around a fraternity house (got them while $109.99). In a house of some 35 people, we've never had an issue with them*, and they've been going for almost a year, now without a reset. In our setup we have 2 long corridors with rooms on each side. The APs are mounted to the ceiling in the center of the hallway. Best-case, the signal has to traverse 1 inner-wall, in its worst case, it has to traverse up to 4 walls. This has never seemed to be an issue; I've never heard complaints about their coverage.

Cons: There is a bit of a quirk in the setup process. You want to go through and apply your settings page-by-page. If you try to go in and do everything at once, it appears to corrupt the settings and you'll end up with random resets or connectivity failures. When I went through and re-applied the settings page-by-page, the issue ceased (again, they've been up almost a year, now without needing to be reset). This has seemed to be an issue across at least 3 firmware versions on 3 units.

Would like some more options in the webUI.

Other Thoughts: Some people don't realize it, but wireless signals are a two-way street. You can have a very strong signal from the access point (to push data to your wireless device), but if your laptop or phone doesn't have the power to push its traffic cleanly to the access point, things will seem to react slowly. While this can be remedied by replacing the access point with one better-suited to filtering out noise, your best bet is to either hard-line, move the access point, or to install a repeater (should have better signal output and location than the wireless device).

tl;dr: Just because the Access Point can broadcast a signal through 4 walls doesn't mean your laptop can (fortunately, your laptop typically has to broadcast far less data than it receives under normal use).

I fear this might be the issue some users have with lower-than expected connection speed or stutter. The above "Con" may also be a part of that. Further, these are on the 2.4GHz band, so expect some interference from your various house-hold appliances. It's never been an issue for us however.

Two of our APs are in the corridor scenario, above. The Third is mounted to the ceiling in a common area to cover the remainder of the building.

APs are running Firmware Versions: 1.1.0, 1.1.6, and 1.1.7 with an output power of 25dBm.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful and Reliable

Pros: Minimalist design, wall mountable and nice range.

Cons: GUI isn't the friendliest and diverts from what you are probably already familiar with.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Great range, powerful, small, POE

Cons: For some reason I could not get access to the device after changing the admin password, I reset the device, tried again and again I was locked out, don know if that it's a bug on my device

Other Thoughts: Mine started failing after 9 months of use in an office that had 7 computers and 2 printers on WiFi plus several devices (Ipads, phones) streaming from Pandora, so I'd say that I got my money's worth. Wish my switch had VLAN support to enable that feature on the AP

2 out of 5 eggsDon't believe the power claims

Pros: The smoke detector look is nice where aesthetics are important. Also, the ability do disable all of the LEDs makes the units simply disappear into the room design.

Cons: The Web UI is buggy, and the WDS settings menu doesn't always appear after enabling the WDS/Access Point feature. Also, the range with these units is not any better than the 23dBm access point this replaced. With the two units side-by-side (on channels 1 and 11), Wifi Analyzer at 20 meters shows the exact same RSSI despite this unit claiming to have an extra 6dB (4x) the output power of the other one.

The WAP Manager suite they provide doesn't detect these on the network at all.

I suspect the 29dBm output power claim is probably very generous.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused you. EAP350 is equipped with up to 29 dBm output RF power. However, for the consideration of all different types of environment, it’s set for 20 dBm in default. We would like to ask you to give our Support team a call, so we can walk you through configuration process. Please contact our Support Team @ 888-735-7888 or email wlan@engenistech.com.

5 out of 5 eggsTOP NOTCH

Pros: POE, excellent coverage, GigE, VLAN and Multiple SSID capable

Covers a 6,000 sqft warehouse easily.
Disabling CTS gives you about 20% boost in throughput if your wireless environment isnt filled with noise.

Can disable all LED lights on the unit.

Cons: Could be thinner, but thats being nitpicky. The antenna, which is its own piece rather than a strip on the circuit board.

Other Thoughts: Cant beat the price for these. Have them hooked up to a D-Link 8 port gigabit POE switch (4x4) and a ZyXel USG 50. Throughput and handles many active clients easily.
Great AP Overall.
